I think Isiah has plans to included Balkman in this ten man rotation.

This means that either Jalen, Q, or Nate will not play.

If Nate plays I feel he will get limited minutes. Balkman is a defensive guy that brings energy. Therefore his presence is going to be needed on the court. The same thing with Jeffries. These two new acquisitions I'm sure Isiah whats to prove that he made the right choice.

Marbury/Jamal
Francis/Q or Nate
Jeffries/Balkman
Frye/Lee
Curry/James

You can expect Marbury, Francis, Jeffries, Frye (If he does not get into foul trouble) to be playing the balk of the minutes on this team.

Here are is what might happen: ( I would love for Jamal to get more minutes than Francis)

Curry ( 30 ) / James ( 13 )/Frye (5)
Frye ( 25 ) / Lee ( 18 )( Jeffries (5)
Jeffries ( 20 ) / QRich or Jalen ( 17 ) Balkman (11)
Francis ( 33 ) / Crawford ( 15 )
Marbury ( 36 ) / Crawford ( 12 )

That only means two things, Nate is not going to see daylight or Q is going to have to get the splitters from his ass from being glued to the benched.

Balkman should get a chance to play, but after the JJ signing, I don't see it happening very often.

As it is in the backcourt I think Nate is fighting for minutes more than anyone. On paper you'd have to say Steph and Stevie start and play 35+ each. That leaves 25-30 minutes left over. Jamal has earned and should get the majority of that. Doesn't leave a lot of minutes for Nate. Now if Nate plays great, someone is going to lose minutes. It won't be STeph of course. Stevie? Jamal? Hopefully this fosters some competition and not crying.

As for Balkman, I've never seen him play so I have no idea if he is taking minutes.

I'm not expecting JJ to have a lock on the backup center position.
Personally, unless JJ1 comes into town in good shape, I prefer Frye
to slide to the C when Curry is riding pine.
That leaves JJ2 and Lee to cover the PF position, giving more time for
Q or Jalen at the 3.
Just another wrinkle. Not having a servicable backup center might hurt
us this year, ESPECIALLY if Curry goes down for any period of time.

That's what will probably happen depending on who we play. IF it is a team like the Spurs or Heat, James will play backup but if we play the Suns or the Nets Frye can play backup center.

of all the guys from last year Crawford showed the most, and took the biggest steps to becoming a winning basketball player. Rather than following the example of guys like Mebury he listened to the coach and made some very strong changes in his game. More FTs, fewer 3's and I think he had a couple 10 rebound games.

Based on that and Nate's utter refusal to pressure the ball handler on D last year it would be a crying shame to see Crawford lose all the minutes behind Franbury

jamal, steph and nate have all been considered Zeke's boy at some point. Francis has not earned "boyhood" yet(well technically he shows his boyhood everytime he whines but you know what I mean). So I think that if Nate earns minutes it will be at Stevie's expense as he is shopped. I think ideally you trade Stevie for a monster rebounder, outside shooter or a big defensive guard. Big defensive guard probabaly being the priority. Most of us agree that we don't need 4 guys in the backcourt that essentially do the exact same thing.

Pretty much two weeks more than anyone else on the team.

If you're comparing him to the vets, I'd agree. It's still no reason to pretend he made big steps, though. That was my only point.

Semantics again. It wasn't that he made "big steps" it was that he made "bigger steps" than everyone else. This is obviously up for debate and not provable but I tend to agree with Fish on this one. He stepped it up down the stretch to help a bad team, salvage a few meaningless games.
