Hey did you guys read that the Knicks had Tskita in camp trying to make the team?

http://www.nytimes.com/2006/09/30/sports/basketball/30knicks.html?_r=1&adxnnl=1&oref=slogin&ref=basketball&adxnnlx=1159635853-QwZjKOqGiuHj4a2Dn/lWEA

"The Knicks have 14 players with guaranteed contracts and one open roster spot. Among the training camp invitees competing for the final roster spot will be forward Nikoloz Tskitishvili, the fifth overall pick in the 2002 draft. Tskitishvili, 7 feet and 225 pounds, has failed to stick with four previous teams."

Now that's something I didn't expect. Any thoughts on this guy?

Terrific shooter. Very tall. That's where his skill begins and ends. Has trouble handling the ball, can't bang inside with bigger players, can't create his own shot, below-average rebounder. Was drafted only on the basis of his shooting and height.

He could play 2-guard, I guess.

...

That being said, he supposidely has been working on his game, so maybe he's improved. But I think he's less developed than Maciej Lampe, for point of comparison.

Wow. I think he would be a great guy to take a chance on! I know he's flamed out with his previous teams but there has to be some talent there becuase he was picked 5th in the draft and I remember that year every GM was extremely high on him. Maybe the Knicks could straighten him, if I remember correctly he's got a great shot but he needed to work on his game inside 18 feet, especially rebounding. Could be a great guy to take a flyer on.

I'd rather sign Miller or Elton Brown, sight unseen, over Skita.

Elton Brown really intrigues me.

I agree Miller looked really good in summer league and I've heard the name Elton Brown numerous times before

Hey in any event it should be REALLY interesting to see how Isiah plans to use these guys and who will be the final winner. The only thing I can think of is that the idea of Brown is great, except that we don't have much PT to offer him. A rebounder needs minutes to be effective. Now if your talking about a skill player. A guy who is a great shot and can be used in short situations, then that makes more sense. I'd think that a Miller or Skita would be a better tool off the bench for certain situations. See you have look at role of a end of the bench guy.

He is our potential Eastern Euro player that Isiah so cherishes.

And lets not forget he can work with Aguire and become magical!

Another year, another player who needs a vowel!

This is what Isiah has been doing in Europe all these times he has went and NOT drafted a Euro. He's been asking the Euro-League players and coaches about Skita the whole time!

Hey, I like Skita. He's a great shooter for someone his height. Just not sure what his real NBA potential is. But he's definitely worth a shot.

I would rather have Lampe, though.

The 2002 draft was a minefield:

1 Houston Yao Ming, C, Shanghai Sharks
2 Chicago Jay Williams, G, Duke
3 Golden State Mike Dunleavy, G/F, Duke
4 Memphis Drew Gooden, F, Kansas
5 Denver Nikoloz Tskitishvili, F, Italy
6 Cleveland Dajuan Wagner, G, Memphis
7 Denver Maybyner "Nene" Hilario, F/C, Brazil
8 L.A. Clippers Chris Wilcox, F, Maryland
9 Phoenix Amare Stoudemire, F, Cypress Creek HS (Fla.)
10 Miami Caron Butler, F, Connecticut
11 Washington Jared Jeffries, F, Indiana

Skit skit can block some shots too. He played well in summer league last year. I dunno what's exactly wrong with him but obviously something is preventing him from breaking out. Still worth a chance.

he's a summer league wonder but a wimp when it counts. his first day on an nba court kg took it upon himself to scare the living s**t out of him and i swear skita's never found his game since. makes you appreciate dirk all the more.

What's troubling is that he's had opportunities with others teams since leaving Denver... and hasn't stuck.

He's one of those regular "summer league" superstars... but perhaps never has earned the confidence of his coaches.

He's still only 23, folks and supposedly had killer tools prior to that draft. What he really could use is playing time and confidence.

I think he is looking for someone to just give him minutes. He has to really bust his ass to stick on a team. I think that is his problem. He has the talent but he has to show and prove.

Sounds like the whole knicks team.
