Yeah that's what I am saying. Many have said that Frye is a poor rebounder/defensive player/soft. I don't think any of that is true. I beleive he did EVERYTHING above average for a rookie, and I think he will improve on that as a sophomore.

I beleiev Isiah is aiming for a faster style that will feature Fryes excellent mid-range shooting and show-off his finishing ability. In addition, because he has gained mscle and is a hard-working player in general, I expect his defense and rebounding to improve as well.

The future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!

Guess what I am hanging?

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Not many players in the east better than frye. Not many better than curry, marbs, Francis, and a few others on this team.

The key word is balls.

Thank you.

guy plays hard, guy can score.

His rebounding is average and his defense is well below that. I'm not saying it cant or wont get better. When you said all star did you mean rookie vs. sophmore game?

Golly josh willikers! With the keeno work ethic and bright outlook the upcoming season is going to be GREAT!

Our guys are the best and they just don't play, they play for NEW YORK! Isiah taught them that 2 years ago to ride the subway and be NEW YORKERS!

WE even had two coaches that were from NEW YORK!

But this year is going to be great, really really great! And fun too! Lots and lots of fun!

Its a great group of guys that really care about the game, the city and its fans!

And that little nate! The kids at school really like him. We all pretend to be Nate on the playground but we can't jump like him. The negro boys can, but we can't!

We have all been wearing our new "starbury" shoes to school and playing in them. Im on my second pair I love them so much. Jimmy's doctor says in a few weeks he can walk again and he is gonna wear his again if his mom lets him. So far I have only twisted my ankle 3 times in them. Not like the other boys who are more hurt!

Yeah, its going to be great this season, and so much fun!

This year Im going to the halloween ball as Anucha! My dad says he is worried that If I put on a black face, pumps, a dress and wig I might be labeled as queer! Gosh, whats wrong with a 3rd grade white boy dressing up as a six foot five black women that our coach likes? Most of the boys want to be either nate or david lee. The girls like david lee. I iike Anucha! when I say that the room gets real quiet. Thats when the negro boys come over to me and pretend im Anucha and say they want to be with me after school! My dad picks me up quick before I can meet with them. Dad is usually very upset with me. He says I should be more to like the other boys who think the knicks are over paid and not a good team!

I tell him "bully on that" and when I grow up Im gonna be just like Isiah!

I'm sorry you did not give a good read to my statement. His Rebounding and D were above average FOR A ROOKIE. If you can show me that it was not please do so!

Oh, this is the point of arguement where I am called a "hater"!

I told you 100 times, I am no hater, just an obnoxious fan who is sarcasticly venting my displeasure over the mismanagement of the team.

Since its been a few years since we have had a good product on the court, then I have little to cheer about.

But take no pleasure in thinking that if we win I will be upset. And jumping up and down saying "told you so" to this group will only further no cause.

We here are all fans and want nothing but to see this team succeed!

I would prefer we don't starphuch, fire coaches annually, bring in bad attitude over paid players, and have a credible owner who hires good people. Preferable if they are good basketball people!

The above is no secret.

so his shortcomings we can overlook because he's ok for an AVERAGE ROOKIE.

BUT

He's going to be an allstar.

Which is it? Is Channing an average rookie or an all star? All star bigs like Amare, Josh Howard, Elton Brand, etc were good rebounders as rookies. Frye's below average rebounding is just a carry over from his below average rebounding for 4 years in college.

He trys hard but has no idea what to do when the ball goes up in the air.

I like Channing a lot. Glad we have him. Not my first choice but a good choice.

He's a gifted scorer. I mean he's really a superior set of offensive skills, but he's far from a complete player. Guys saying he's a good rebounder or defender are just taking happy pills.

Pass me some.

You've never seen me call anyone a hater.

Anyway, go back into the archives where you state that you would like to see the team do bad this upcoming season to get rid of Isiah. Right around the time the LB gets fired rumors.

Then go back into the archives, and check the post where you chastise holfresh for rooting against LB rather than rooting for the Knicks.

Then get back to me.

Okay, fishmike, I guess you are looking for some action, so you are intentionally ignoring what I actually wrote, and making it into something else.

That's cool.

Let me restate the title: "Channing Frye threatens to make all-star team..." The operative word is THREATEN. Which means he does really well, gets consideration, but probably falls short.

Sorry if you think that is not possible, I do. But you should just come right out and say it so we can have an intelligent discussion rather than a sarcasm war.

I think it is unlikely that Sweetney will average 18/12 and 3 blks this season though. () How about you?

Channing Frye was ABOVE THE AVERAGE ROOKIE AT EVERYTHING! Including rebounding and defense.

Compared to the league at large I would say he is an average rebounder and defensive player. BUT THAT IS PRETTY DAMN GOOOD FOR A ROOKIE.

The thing is Fish, rookies improve. Starting out average is not bad. It's good. And average for the league is better than the average rookie. I wish he was a perfect player too, but he isn't.

However he showed much promise, including as a defensive player (Nice shot-blocking), and as a rebounder. As pointed out in another thread, Frye rebounds at the same rate as Dirk and Bosh, who are not great rebounders, but they are good rebounders. And he did that asa rookie who was jerked around.

Some things are good fish. Some things are good.

good post... I'm "threatening" to have a 3-some with Jessica Alba.

Seriously man, what are you saying? That the 9th pick in the draft is considerable better at everything than the other 60 guys drafted that year? or each year? I agree... he's a lottery pick. He should be better.

Lets just watch and see. When Curry and Frye were together last year they were slaughtered on the boards and killed in the post. Im hoping this year is different, but there is no reason to assume it will be.

No you are not. If you are saying that you have as good a chance of banging Alba as Frye has of making the all-star team, then I would say you have a real chance.

But you don't.

I am saying he was an above average rookie for any season, and I expect him to improve quite a bit. If you think he won't, just say so!

You agree he is an above average rookie, but that isn't good enough for you? What were you expecting? Did he fall short of your expectations?

How can we argue if you refuse to "say" anything?
Lets just watch and see. When Curry and Frye were together last year they were slaughtered on the boards and killed in the post. Im hoping this year is different, but there is no reason to assume it will be.

There is a reason to assume Frye will be better at all aspects of the game. He was a rookie who was GOOD player, and now he will be a second-year player, and players generally improve in their second year, especially a hard-working, intelligent player like Frye.

If you don't think Frye will be better than last year, why not just come right out and say it?

I think Frye will be better than last year
I think the guy that will show the most improvement is David Lee however
I think Frye is a VERY LONG way from threatening to make the all star team
I think if Frye starts next to Curry at the 4/5 we will get slaughtered in the paint

Could be.

I disagree.

I think they will definitely start together, and while they won't be the Bad Boys, they will be serviceable on defense and on the boards.

Why thank you.

A "good piece of Beaver" is always a nice thing!

OOHAH,

I said that? Wow, I am inconsistant!

Maybe I was pissed.

You know, I really still don't like Isiah.

Maybe I want the team to win and Isiah get fired!

That would make me really happy!

Serviceable is for mediocre to decent teams. Your starting frontcourt being serviceable is a low standard is that's probably not good enough to be even a playoff team. A good frontcourt will control the boards and will make you think twice about scoring in the paint. Frye and Curry haven't done that yet.
