Any chance at all that we bring this guy back? I know it looks real crowded now with guys like Jared Jeffries, Balkman, Richardson and Jalen Rose in the mix but I'm still holding out hope that they come to their senses and bring him back here. It absolutely amazes me that nobody else has picked him up yet.

So what would be the most likely scenario that opens up a spot to get Woods back in the mix? Some kind of 2 or 3 for 1 deal involving C-Webb? A Q-Rich or Jalen Rose trade? Does anyone even want the guy back or is it just me?? I personally think the Knicks are NUTS to leave such a young talent like Q2 (who they could get for such a good price btw) on the board like that, but that's me. Let me know how you guys feel on this.

he showed flashes as being able to provide some assistance at the 2, so we're all hoping isiah comes through with a glut clearing trade that brings stability to our youth and roles for our stars.

It'll be a failure by Isiah if JJ, Mo T, Jalen Rose, and Malik Rose are all on the roster and Q Woods is not on openning day.

I would not consider it a failure if those guys arent traded.

Still how come no other team has signed woods yet? Woods is not restricted and I don't think the knicks have bird rights on woods. So how come woods aint signed? Plenty of other dudes out there are in the league that don't deserve it. I wonder if there is something going on that we don't know about.

Just waive one of them. The team throws around money like it grows on trees. I can't understand why can't waive one of those players to make room for a better, younger one with more upside.

wsdm - because Mailk, Jalen and Mo Taylor have value as expiring contracts, Isiah has proven to be an aggressive agent for making the Knicks core younger and Jerome provides insurance at center.

If Woods leads the league in scoring and tomahawk dunks us into the lead in the last second of game 7 of the finals... I will not cheer for him or the Knicks.

Some people do not deserve a second chance.

Malik's not an expiring contract. Based on the team's history, I'd be surprised if you got something better than Q for the expiring contracts anyway unless you're taking back one or two bad contracts and giving up draft picks. Jerome James doesn't deserve a spot in the NBA.

I agree with EnySpree. Woods played too well last year to not get at least a 1-year minimum contract offer from some team in the league. I have not heard anything about him all summer. I think something is going on with him that has not been made known to the general public.

wsdm - the issue is not whether Jerome "deserves" a spot. If Jerome doesn't work hard, you can be assured Isiah will deal him away just like he dealt Tim Thomas.

Looking at each and every transaction in retrospect is easy.

If you really want to impress, just cite a more servicable center who is agreeably available for Mo Taylor, Malik Rose or Jalen Rose.

You really want to "waive" him?

Having said that, I like Qyntel Woods.

Liked him while many people were hung up on his past and perceptions of his lack of character.

I like Woods' versatility and unselfishness

Great. We'll have to wait three more years of him not deserving a spot so he can be dealt like Tim Thomas--as an expiring contract.

As much as QWoods showed promise last year, I think it speaks volumes that nobody has signed him (or at least publically shown interest).

Enjoy the Ride dude

I'll enjoy the ride, but we can still make projections about the most likely outcome based on a player's history.

(BTW, wsdm is short for wisdom. Some day I hope to have some! )

Dude, don't mind him. According to earl, you are not allowed to ponder the situation
or project possibilities. Just shut up and drink your kool-aid. According to him
this isn't a discussion board, its a forum for blowing sunshine up each others asses.

I was reading here for a while before I decided to join. I know that Earle is a kool-aid drinker but I still enjoy reading what he writes. He's got impressive knowledge that goes back far more years than my life does. (I'm 27.)

Which Way is Up?

Panos - you ever ponder the situation the Knicks would be in if they hadn't signed Kiki Vandeweghe, Spencer Haywood, Paul Westphal, Truck Robinson, Bob McAdoo or Rolando Blackman while their careers were on the downside?

This ain't about simply drinking the strawberry kool-ade, its about looking at the Knicks franchise with some type of perspective that allows you to understand that changing the corporate culture is more than a mere wet dream on Real GM.

Despite all the warts, perceived and otherwise, perhaps there are some among us who look at the spanking new frontcourt and understanding that in three years they still will ALL be under 27 years old.

The days of the Knicks quick fix have ground to a slow halt. There are five YOUNG first round draft picks in the frontcourt alone.

No matter the baggage, Steve Francis was good enough to be an All Star. Jamal Crawford is gifted and still learning. Nate has value while Balkman and Collins are mere babes.

They ALL have something to prove.

I'm ready and willing to see what they can do as a team. It took Chicago seven years to make the playoffs after their rebuild that included trading away Elton Brand, Brad Miller AND Ron Artest.

There is no such thing as a quick fix.
