My wife tells me im the best!
My kids think IM the greatest Dad in the whole world!
My Mothers thinks I can do no wrong.

Its all perspective man, all perspective.

Marbury has got to think that. Why shouldn't he?

He's paid like he is?

Its all words. NBA players like Marbury will tell us what we want to hear.

Steve Nash is the best point guard right now. Chris Paul will evolve soon enough.

If I were Marbury, I'd think the same. No biggie.

Marbs needs a publisist. I respect the fact he says what he feels and hasn't backed down from his comments, but geez.

I just hope marbs can average 18 and 12 this year leading the knicks deep into the playoffs so guys can say he's good but not having a impact the way Nash did.

He was on CNN yesterday too talking about his new sneaker. I actually like the fact that he is trying to do something about the rediculous costs of sneakers. These things cost 10 cents to make and they sell them for $200. Its insane.

Marbury is on a huge promotional blitz that I surmise is designed around three prime issues:

1. Raise interest levels for the knicks upcoming season.

2. To improve his public image and re-endear himself to the fans he's lost in this city (remember the boo's last year)

3. To promote his new fashion line. He repeatedly spoke of himself as a business man with Dan Patrick yesterday, and I believe his saying he didn't play like "Starbury" last year was directly related to the impending launch of his "Starbury" line of clothes being sold thru Steve & Barry's.

Marbury has never been this high-profile before in his career. I suspect much of this comes from Isiah's mentoring. I believe his Katrina efforts, shoes, appearances, etc, are all part of these efforts to raise his profile, improve his image, and increase his self-confidence. I believe Isiah is trying to get Steph to focus on issues larger and less sullen than his own persecution complexes. Trying to make him into a man and a leader.

Will it work? I don't know, but you can't say Isiah and Dolan aren't giving him every opportunity to fail or succeed here. This is HIS year, lets see what he does with it...

is it too much to hope that he would just shut his mouth & let his play do the talking for him for once in his life? probably.

I don't mind if Marbury goes on a publicity blitz, but he's got to be careful about how he expresses himself if he wants to be understood by everyone who is willing to listen to him.

I understand that winning basketball games is important to me.

Marbury is who he is because he plays basketball very well, and he does. The goal of playing a game is to score more point and keep the other team form scoring. He does not win very well.

NBA basketball is not a sport where you win without good players around you...You can put losing on Marbs shoulders without looking at his supporting cast but you will be just doing yourself a disservice...Maybe you don't care about that...But there are many players who has the skills to win that has not won because of not having good people around them...KG is a good example...

i think Nalod would like to see him win some regular season games so this team isn't the laughing stock of the NBA first... we're not talking championships here... this team is lightyears away from even hoping to contend for one.

Well if we are all here thinking that it will be up to Marbury to give us victories in the regular season then we are not understaning what basketball is all about....You are not winning in this league without allstars or guys who are playing on that level, ask Kobe, Mc Grady, AK-47...What's the rotation...Who's showing up on D this year? Many questions to answer and it's none of them are about Marbs or they shouldn't be...

Come on we all know Marbs is a talent and we expect lots when he is leading the Knicks...But lets be real, he needs others to step up to win...Does the Knicks have these players?...I really don't know...Too many variables..Curry,Frye,Isiah,who will emerge at the 2 or the 3 for that matter...

Of everyone, we know what Marbs can do...Making this a winning situation will depend of everyone else....Marbs is the least of my worries, he can win with the right players around him, evidence Phoenix 2002-03...If whether or not everyone else is ready to be counted on...

"I'm the best PG in the league. But when my team loses 59 games I'm not responsible"

Oye ve.

I'm with the haters on this one. I love the Sneakers. I hope the guy makes a lot of money, the shoes sell well. I will buy some for my relatives. I'm rooting for the sneakers. I'm rooting for Marbs. I agree he has to have the utmost confidence. But for once:

Shut up and win some god-damn games. Enough with the "it's not his fault" syndrome. He appears to be the only player in the league to never have played with anyone who is good. For once, shut up and overachieve. Is that so tough to ask?

Holfresh: How about this. No one is asking him to win a championship. I'm definitely not asking for him to turn this team into an overnight winner. I'm asking one thing. For once in his career, take his team to the next level and overachieve. Every star does this for their team at some point. Yes you need to have other players to win. But this guy has talent now. The excuse is gone. I just want to see one time where instead of our team underachieving, or overachieving for 6 games, how about over achieving for 82 games. This way everyone can get off his back.

so would you say IT has done a crappy job getting good players around steph? i don't think that's true, talent has never been our problem in the IT era. chemistry always comes back to the star, the best player, the PG.

i'm pretty sure steph's katrina invovlement was based on more than getting himself some good PR. i think he shows a good attitude with a lot of his off-court activities. and i don't think it's necessarily a recent development. i remember reading that he took leandro barbosa under his wing in PHX when he was fresh from south america. he does more than most NBAers to help out when he feels for something.

as far as basketball goes, though, we need less talk and more focus on winning if he does want to be the best PG.

To simplify. If we are a 35 win team on paper I'd like to see Marbs turn us into a 38 or 39 win team instead of a 23-34 win team. That's all I want. If it's not clear by my previous 2 posts. Just once my man, overachieve without excuses and controversy. This all goes away then.

dude, when you're the best player on a team & your team just finished the worst season in franchise history & couldn't even net 30 wins last year, you sure as hell deserve a fair share of the blame... can we see at least 40 wins out of this bunch before we start mentioning Marbury w/a name like Kobe for crying out loud? i'm not even talking about championships or playoffs at this point... (in my best Mora voice) "playoffs??? PLAYOFFS?!?!"

When does it end with you guys and Marbury? The guy constantly underachieves yet people always find a way to divert the blame away from Marbury. This sort of blame that we give Marbury comes with the territory of being a good player and putting up the 20&8 that he puts up. WIN SOME GAMES. The Knicks have went down in victories the past 3 years and Marbury has been here for each one of them. Win some freaking games.

Good players always whine about doing their best while great players win championships. PERIOD.

I like Steve and Barry's. I have not seen the sneak yet, but I would like to check it out. I hope it works out. When I was a kid, canvas Converse All stars were kind of the hip sneaker. Today I dont think kids would wear them---but it terms of cost to make the sneak, it's much less than leather. Why do kids need to buy sneakers that cost 150$+++ it's ludicrous.
