I really don't think this team can afford to go into camp with Francis on the roster. It's pretty clear that he sulks when "not coddled" by his teammates and coaches. He won't take Marbury's place at the 1, and we can't have him at the 2 (with Marbury at the 1) - he won't come off the bench without sulking. So the question is, what extent would you go to get rid of him?? I don't actually dislike him, but don't see how he can work on this team presently. My only hope/thought wa to trade him to Cleveland with Udoka and a protected #1 for Larry Hughes (falling out of favor there?) and Luke Jackson. I searched through all the teams (on Real GM) and can't make a case for another team possibly taking him. He makes too much money, the teams that trade him seem to get better and he sulks. If a deal can't be completed, I would pay him - but send him away from the team (like what the Bulls did with Tim Thomas) until I could find a taker. So, is there a better deal or option out there? Like to hear your opinions/thoughts

I'd even be willing to support Marbury if it got Francis out.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

if I am Cle I spit out my coffee

They still like Hughes... he was banged up there. Why add a sulking Francis there?

I think Denver would take him in a KMart trade
I think a Boozer and Derrik Fisher package is a possibility
same with Adonal Foyle and Troy Murphy for say Francis

Francis right now is a sulking combo guard with baggage on the books for 3 mores years at $15,$16 and $17mm per. He's got a career of losing BB and quiting on teams and coaches.

What does that usually fetch?

I fear you're right, but am still hoping you're not. So I think it's premature to buy him out, tho I would take Larry Hughes for him. Listen, he played well w/ Mobley, who likes to shoot more than marbs. I think there's a chance he and Marbs can co-exist.

Been a lot of backcourts w/ two guys who like the ball that have done OK -- clyde/pearl, ray williams/michael ray, Franchise/Mobley, Cassel/Mobley (and I'm not comparing Marbs/Franchise to these backcourts, just pointing out you don't need traditional 1 and 2).

I'm hoping that Franchise's trade value is at all-time low right now, and that he and Marbs will at least do OK. Then, we can get something for him. Ultimately, tho, don't think we're winning any championships w/ the 2 of them in our starting rotation.

Giving min to Lee and Frye is more important than dumping Francis to get PFs we don't need in Murphy and K-Mart. I'd do the Boozer deal though.

I like Kmart backing up Frye. Plenty of minutes. I like DLee paired with Frye. There is minutes for all. Kmart brings somthing we don't have.

I don't like two guards at 6-3. Clyde was a big quick 6-4 and earl was super quick. Sacrelige to even breath the word Franbury with Clyde and Earl.

If the Knicks could get Hughes for Francis that would be great for the Knicks. Hughes plays defensive and he rebounds and is still young. He has had injuries in the past but he has played with guards that dominate the ball arenas and iverson and James. Hughes had a rough year last year getting hurt and losing his younger brother to a heart ailment. Would love to see LH in a Knicks uniform

i'd do a KMart trade for Francis if DEN threw in a 1st round pick

the Boozer & Fisher for Francis idea i like, but my guess is Utah would ask for David Lee to be thrown into the deal to even up the dollars & talent tradeoff... i don't want to trade D Lee unless we're getting a bonafide star calibre player... Boozer's good, but i'd rather see D Lee getting more minutes at the PF than to take on Boozer's contract & losing D Lee... how about Boozer & Fisher for Mo T, Q Rich & Nate Rob?

i don't see GS trading away big to get a small, especially when they already have Baron Davis.

I assume you mean a microfracture repaired knee. I can't think of what else he brings. We haven't had one of those since Penny was traded though. The organization is long overdue.

Hmmm we need more microfracture repaired knees. If we get the entire set of 12, we can do the mail away for the ultra rare titanium-reinforced knee that sells for big buxx on eBay.

I doubt Utah would take Francis. They have Deron Williams at PG, just signed Dee Brown, and drafted a SG. I also doubt Clev wants any part of Francis unless we take back Damon Jones. Den probably would do a K-Mart for Francis trade, but does that really help this team in the long run. I think our best option is to play out the first quarter of the season, give Francis 30 minutes a game, and hope to God that he and Marbury can thrive. If he produces, his trade value will go up and we can get rid of him for something we might actually want.

Three years left on his contract, at about 15 to 16 million and 'let him go'? I'd rather keep him for at least one more season, let him contribute and then offer a deal next year (unless he does something great for us), preferrably a trade, picking up a part of his contract. I don't want to just let him go, buy him out. That would be a huge waste, because we can still get something out of him and for him. Unless someone is willing to trade now, I say keep him. Letting him go want make the team that much better.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Kmart had arthroscopic surgery, that kind of surgery isnt as career altering microfracture. and as for francis, Im so desperate to get rid of him that Id trade him for an expiring contract and a young athletic SF.
