I have no idea how to use trade checker. Could the Knicks trade for Chris Webber and get rid of Taylor and Richardson. This would clear out the logjam at the three and Jefferies, Lee, Frye, and Webber would be the rotation at the 3/4 positions.

Works under the cap: trade id 3335604.

Webber only has 1 year remaining after this season. Actually is a net money savings for the Knicks.

Philly has Iverson & Iguodala at the SG/SF positions, & CWebb is a way better player than Mo T.

financially the trade might work, but there's no way in hell Philly makes that trade w/o some 1st round picks or some other incentive thrown their way

King, I think the basis of your idea is a good one... Anytime youve got 15 guys under contract there's a logjam somewhere.

How about Q, Malik, Collins a protected #1 and JJFat for Webber.

I think they are trying to sell the team so switching Q for Weber in 2007/2008 (Rose and Taylor would be off the books) would be a switch of $8M for $22M difference, and considering the salary cap, that's $28 difference in committed salary. HUGE.

So yes, Philly has some interest in this. I have to believe Collins would be apart of the deal, being a Philly school-born guy and all.

the overall dollars over the longterm are a wash, however u must factor in the fact that in 08/09 & 09/10, when CWebb's contract would no longer be on the books, Q Rich would be taking up a combined $18 mil in salary & another $18 mil in potential luxury tax payments... w/o making this deal Philly can be under the cap in '09 enough to target a bigname FA... coincidentally this is the same year that guys like Lebron & Wade are scheduled to hit the open market... i don't believe Philly would make this type of trade for a guy who won't help them win any games right now & who's contract will prevent them from reaching roster flexibility for the longterm... there's no reason for Philly to make a trade of this kind unless we were to toss in some picks or young talent to make it worth their while imho.

a trade of Jalen & Malik to Philly for CWebb & a 1st round pick has alot better chance of appealing to them in my view.

here's the thing though... if you are tying to sell THIS year or this next summer, all you have to do is be under the cap immediately, and with a Q/Webber switch it would happen. Philly is also trying to move AI and maybe even Samual, who are even more easily moveable.

What's the cap this year? $55M? In 2008-9? $60M? Not unreasonable, so the luxary tax line is a bit different from what you had mentioned.

I am thinking they are asking for DLee with the deal in addition to Collins but Isiah has got to hold the line cause NO other team can make this trade but NY.

it's true, no other team can make this deal other than NY... that doesn't mean Philly has to make a trade that doesn't benefit them either... if i were Billy King, i'd simply stand pat w/CWebb & trade him next season when his contract becomes that much more tradeable.

trading AI & Dalembert will net them much better in return... maybe a deal w/the Knicks for Mo T & Collins for Dalembert wouldn't be too out of the realm of possibility? that would be a deal i can easily picture Isiah going for, & it would help the Sixers tremendously by unloading a ton of longterm salary.

C - Dalembert / Frye
PF - Curry / Lee / Malik
SF - Jefferies / Balkman
SG - Francis / Q Rich
PG - Marbury / Crawford / Nate
IR - Big Turd / Jalen

King1, given your history on this board as being an extremely reliable person for information, are you saying this because your sources are hearing some rumors about this?

I wanted Webber a few years ago when Sacramento was trying to trade him and I still want him now. Last year CWebb put up a pretty good year and I know he's only playing on one leg but he's still a very good player. Isiah's offense could really use a great passing big man like Webber in the lane area because it will make the offense that much better. With only 2 years left on his deal I would actually go for this deal because he'll still come off the books when the other big contracts are coming off.

Either way, very interesting King1, but seriously, is this a rumor or just your own personal musing?

Good trade. Like it. We need to make these kinds of moves to reduce future payroll and remove log jam.

Curry Frye JJ
Webber Lee Rose
JJ JRose
Francis Craw
Marb Nate

Bench: Collins, Balkman

Better team tahn what we got now
