Why don't ask Ernie G that. He offered Jeff 6 yrs for 33 mil.

And if he were playing in WAS for that salary, he'd be a complete "STEAL as a versatile 6'11" defensive stopper at the 2, 3, 4, or 5"!

Oh and a simple answer: Bowen's underpaid, whereas Jeffries is reasonably paid @ the league average.

Yeah, my expectations[more like ownership expectations] are/should be 48-50 wins and 2 playoff rounds with our payroll. Anything short is rediculous. At some point you have to account for a return on the spending. All of these teams who cant spend a penny and we keep raising the bar. The only justification on spending 10mm for jefferies next year is 7-9 more wins than the 41 that has been projected right! and unless our team plane tragically goes down, i dont want anyone to utter the word injury problem!

do i think were going to win 48-50? i think we will lose 48 to 50

I view paying a 6-4 player 30mm as outrageously overpaying. Who knows what or IF wash offered jefferies anything--perhaps they wanted to keep a cohesion for the team and then woke up and smelled reality. they had every chance to match the same basic offer[if that was what was made right? but they didnt

Who knows what or IF Paxson asked for David Lee in the Curry trade?

Briggs is suddenly skeptical of rumors in the papers now that skepticism, rather than complete naivete, works with his viewpoint. How convenient.

Bowen plays for a great organization, Jefferies will play for a bunch of dumbasses. Does that answer your question?

I know exactly why Bowen got 3 mill. He was gonna get 6 mill, but he fouled the the contract as he was signing it so they had to take it off the table!

I call BS.

There's no way in hell that a role player averaging his numbers is reasonably paid at $6M per (which by the way is more than the league average.

I saw something where the avg was at 5.2M next year but you're right, it is supposed to be the league average. If that's the case, I stand corrected about that.

But I still call BS about a role player like Jeffries being reasonably paid. How many other role players putting up his numbers are making that much?

I know I know. I was trying to place a little humor in the thread...

I still like the signing btw.

The MLE is defined as the league average.

It has the raises factored in. It's not a flat $6 MM per year. The first year is that at league average, and then with max raises every year. He'll likely be above league average in the following years.

Anyway, point is we paid a lot for a role player. Not as bad as an Eisley or Anderson, because the CBA restricts the contract to max 5 years and JJ is young, with the potential to quickly improve. But he will cost the organization $12 MM a year. That's a lot of money to spend for an organization who won 23 games last year.
