one of the best interviews I've ever seen him do...he really is a good guy, too bad it doesnt translate onto the court and into wins. Maybe this year things will start to turn around for him and our Knicks.

Your comments remind me of the people who get sucked in whenever someone like T.O. or Keyshawn make a positive comment in the press or when (insert about whoever) says he “found God” in the offseason and is ready to do the right thing this year. 5 minutes of good PR by Marbury and you’re telling us he’s a good guy – give me a break. He’s born loser and makes those around him worse. I’ve seen too much to think differently after 5 minutes of smiling with Regis.

man, whats up with that...the interview was mostly about marburys effort towards the comunity not about his play....marbury has alwas been a community oriented guy....give theman his props for what he does for the inner city kids that dont have it as easy as some of us do

Marbury is a very charitable person, very few athletes are as charitable as him and I commend him for that. I WANT him to succeed here in New York but I've never seen him do the things that leaders do for their basketball teams. I hope he does them this year because we know he has the talent, now if he can just get his mind in the right spot, it will all come together for him.

On the court you can argue he's a loser who has made those around him worse. The interview is primarily about what's going on off the court, where he has been a class act.

nyk4ever - excellent point. Marbury's words may sometimes cause confusion and consternattion but his charitable DEEDS are above the call of duty.

Here's a toast to Marbury hitting the open man and playing with passion

i don't believe anyone on this board truly feels that Marbury is a bad person off the court... he's just very delusional when it comes to his quality as a ballplayer... he believes his talent alone will be able to make a team into a winner... if there's anything anyone has learned by watching the greats who've won in this league, like Jordan, Magic, Bird, Isiah, is that it takes alot more than just talent to get your team to the top in this league... it takes a tremendous amount of heart, grit, determination, & unwillingness to accept failure... Marbury is severely lacking in all of those things.

again, off the court, he's a great guy & 1 of the most charitable athletes in sports... he get all my respect & admiration for that... but on the court, he's 1 of the most idiotic, thickheaded & selfish players i've ever had the displeasure of rooting for.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Misterearl, your comment is severely misguided. My charitable causes happen to be plentiful and included Hurricane Katrina, but clearly this doesn’t prohibit me from being a born loser, which is possible regardless of what I donate to – same goes for our buddy Stephon. The only difference is I haven’t been on the court and sulking in the NBA for the past 10 years, nor has every team I left gotten better without me. Obviously its great to see someone give back, but I can’t take the jump to it translating to him being better on the court since it never has before – INCLUDING the season after he gave to Katrina.

I personally don't care how much Stephon gives to charity anymore than I care how much the guy three streets over gives to charity. The guy being on tv tells us that we are supposed to care about this stuff, but I don't. What I care about is how he performs for my team. I like the fact that he can put up 20 and 8. I've seen him do it and that is great. Now I'm bored with seeing that. Now I want to see him help my team win instead of contributing to the wreckage of a team that I've rooted for, for far longer than he has.
I just hope that people will like me

The sad thing about it that some B-ball executives like Zeke try to make US basketball a game of jumping high and dunking hard. Kind of converting Greek Olympic fighting into Wrestling
Marb is a kind of player who is good for this showdown kind of basketball. With adding more "long and athletic" he can make a good show out of it. But he cannot win with the team as you need at least some brain to run the team.
He is nice person but plain stupid. He needs somebody to think for him on the court. Problem is he is not accepted the advices too. So he is not only stupid but also stubborn which is a deadly combination.

From what I've seen, Marbury's charitable acts have really, really helped his game.

Really.

I have to say...after watching Steph's appearance on Regis and Kelly this morning, I can't help but to feel bad for how he is portrayed in the papers. Sure he can come off as surly, but I don't think there's one real Knicks fan who thought he didn't try to accommodate Larry last year before Larry pushed and pushed aaaaand pushed.

There's a great article on www.slackersports.com that was put out tonight about Steph's charity work, and there's a link to the youtube version of Steph's appearance on Regis!

Go Knicks '06-'07!

Haircuts and sneakers will turn the team around! New Blood, Isiah, new sneakers and cleancut coney Island youth.

Steph makes his fame on the court.

Kelly is hot, Regis is an ass, and Steph got 4 brothers that played Div one ball. Big interview.

Steph is not a bad guy, just not a great one.
