NEW YORK (AP) - Harold Reynolds was fired by ESPN from his job as a baseball analyst after he was accused of sexual harassment, the New York Post reported Wednesday.

The former Gold Glove-winning second baseman, a member of the "Baseball Tonight" team for 11 years, said he didn't do anything to warrant his dismissal and wants his job back.

"It was a total misunderstanding," Reynolds told the Post. "My goal is to sit down and get back. To be honest with you, I gave a woman a hug and I felt like it was misinterpreted."

The newspaper, quoting sources, reported that the woman is an ESPN employee.

On Tuesday, ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said Reynolds, 45, made his last on-air appearance for the network Sunday night. ESPN refused to comment on previous reports that Reynolds was dismissed, or to provide any details regarding his departure.

"All I can say is he is no longer working here," Krulewitz said.

pretty damn ridiculous if you can get fired for giving a woman a hug at work... there better be more to this than what's being reported here... Harold Reynolds was the only guy i could bare to hear talk on that whole Baseball Tonight crew... all this sexual harassment garbage at work is getting to the point where you can't even look at a woman the wrong way without getting accused of sexual harassment... not to say there aren't very legitimate instances where charges like this are warranted, but i think HR departments are getting so damn paranoid of getting sued that they'll take drastic action as soon as even a suspicion is raised w/in their companies... the madness has to stop.

Well my problem is, if a guy hugs a woman at work its harassment, but if a woman wants to kiss you on the cheek to say hello, rub your shoulders, or something else then there is nothing wrong with that. Its become a total double standard. I work with mostly women and they are VERY touchy feely. However on my side I have no interest in bringing things to that level in the workplace, because its the WORKPLACE.

This is sad if all he did was give her a hug, but he should have known better. I dont see why people need to bring things to that level when they are at work.

Steve Phillips, who no team would ever hire as a GM, is the one who should be fired.

The reason it's a double standard is that most guys don't complain about such behavior.

Usually, sexual harassment has to be pervasive or ongoing to be actionable unless the act is particularly offensive.

wasn't Phillips involved in a sexual harassment suit with the Mets?

There were some grumblings yesterday that it wasn't just a hug...it was repetetive behavior that was going on for quite some time.

Did she want to be hugged?

If not, its harrassment.

Did his flashlight key chain held in his pocket rub against her snatch?

Did he hung her and stick his tongue in her ear also?

Yeah, if its just a hug, then its wrong. But is there more?

LIfes phuched up. I can get a blow job from an intern wanting a job but if I fire her for being tardy its harrasment!

I like the guy but these guys are idiots....It's simple, stay the hell away from women in the office...Grope the women waiting for you in ESPN parking lot..Or outside the Garden if you are Isiah....It works for me...I touch no woman on my trading floor..I never got accused....See how that works...

Theres alot of rumors going around about this, I thought of creating a thread for it yesterday but figured I better not becuase of the rumors but now that it's getting a bit more air, I'll put it up.

I've heard that Harold, who is very close with ARod, was very displeased with ESPN's handling of ARod's slump and felt they were throwing gasoline onto the fire by constantly airing the subjecton on baseball tonight and that other players(Mark Teixiera) are slumping throughtout the year and no one was making a big deal about them. Apparently, he said something to the wrong higherup at ESPN and they fired him... and they are using this "sexual harrassment" as a coverup. A few months ago, Harold signed a new 8yr contract with ESPN to take them into their new expanded coverage that is coming up soon in 2007, so this really did just come out of nowhere.

Just a rumor I heard though so take it for what it's worth.

I personally love Harold, he seems like the nicest guy in the world, maybe thats just a perception but when you watch him on TV it seems like he would never hurt a fly.

Harold does come off like a real good guy.

Isiah appears to be very "neat" kind of fella that would not surprise me if he was accused of groping a ball boy as opposed to Anucha

speaking out against the Anti-Yankee ESPN establishment must be like heresy over there... it really sucks that the only non-Yankee hating nitwit on that station is the one that got fired... they mine as well change the name of the network from ESPN to NESN.

Ask Nalod....I trade currencies and metals....Aussie dollar strong now, it's putting on a show.. RBA(central bank) will definately raise rates next week after higher inflation numbers overnight so the market can't get enough...Euro and Sterling strong as well....Gold is higher on the back of that stuff...Markets are thin due to lite summer activity..

You don't want stock picks from me...I'm flat this year...Did ok last year and half being long CAT, and ADBE but I think they will be sideways now for a while...Have JPM for a while, not by my choice, has been an absolute dog but good earnings a week ago, it seem to have some legs...So we will se..

I love that guy. Now I have no reason to watch espn. I literally only watched espn baseball tonight because of him.

Anyway....

Sexual harassment sucks man. I'm deathly afraid of it. That's why I leave the few good looking co-workers I see alone. I mean damn I have my subtle things I do, but I never cross the line. I see and hear guys around me straight up harassing the females around them. I just can't get rapped up in it. When I'm off duty and I'm out of uniform, totally different story...but even the woman are vindictive!

Misterearl I'll give you 4 stocks that will bring you back magnificent returns over a period of time[meaning patience]

A-- Long Position AMD absolute 5 star stock that is severely oversold. Tremendous fundamentals and cash position. My bet is thing sees 50 within 18 months.
B--Short position JBLU ***** was a great company that expanded its business way to rapidly and now is caught in a cost/debt death spiral. This thing is going to 0.
C-- Long position SYMC similar to AMD in the oversold Dept, also enjoys a HUGE cash position and is a leader in its field of providing security solutions for IT. Not as much upside in this stock, but do I see 32-38 YES. 4 stars
D--HAUP long I have made well over 7 digits trading this stock over 10 years--and I am not kidding. While the old time action is likely done, this remains a great situational swing-trading stock. Its a NY company that has a niche in the area of providing high caliber prodcuts for the home computer and entertainment systems. Not the best management, but it's been growing revenues Q-Q was once voted to be stock of year 1999-2000 never made it, but buy and hold--and I will almost guarantee a 100-200+% return from here 3 stars

You could've made 12.5% on AMD stock since I laid it out here a few days ago---it's going to smoke over the next year, still early to get on this train
