I absolutely, positively PROMISE to NEVER bootleg another post, but in the meantime.. this is from my brothare chip who lives in a parallel Knicks universe
A thousand pardons BUT....
Veractiy--Always Darkest Before The Dawn
(to the brother in secion 404) - dj:
... And yes, I am not thrilled about losing Jackie, and last year was sheer misery.
However, your offhanded dismissal of Channing as an SAR at best (yeah, that would be tragic to have a guy who averages 20-9 and shoots 85% from the FT line) rings hollow, and a little bitter, and your bloanket declaration that this is the worst the Knicks have ever been is total BS.
The Darrel Imhoff Knicks of 61-62, pre-Willis/Cazzie/Dollar Bill/Clyde were truly horrific. Truly hopeless. Truly dull: 21-58 in 1961, and 29-51 in 1962.
In 1962 they drafted Paul Hogue ahead of Zelmo Beaty, Dave DeBussherre, Jerry Lucas (the last two territorial picks) and JOHN HAVLICHEK!
In 1963, 21-59 and they drafted Art Heyman instead of Nate Thurmond.
In 1964 22-58, and they drafted Jim Barnes, Willis Reed and Howard Komives.
In 1965 31-49, and they drafted Bill Bradley, Dave Stallworth and Dick Van Arsdale.
In 1966 30-50 and they drafted Cazzie Russell.
In 1967 36-45 and they drafted Walt Frazier and Phil Jackson (Detroit drafted Jalen Rose's absentee father, Jimmy Walker, #1).
In 1968, finally, a winning season, going 43-39, and they fired Dick McGuire and hired Red Holzman. They drafted Bill Hosket and Don May.
In 1969 they traded for Dave Dushherre, and finished 54-28, going down to the Bill Russell Celtics in the Eastern Finals 4-2.
In 1970 they went 60-22 and won the whole fandango.
The point.
Isiah sucks. Isiah is the worst. Isiah must go.
Hey, maybe Eddy Curry and Stephon Marbury will go down as Walt Bellamy and Howie Komives (Walt a hall of famer by the way) or something better.
Point is tghe Larry Brown season was a nightmare that set the franchise back, but on the positive side?
Channing Frye, Nate Robinson, David Lee, Renaldo Balkman, Mardy Collins, Eddy Curry (YEAH, Eddy Curry!), Jamal Crawford...
We haven't had a core of youth like this since the slow year by year process wherein we rose to a championship contending team in the late '60s.
So while I have issues with Isiah, respect DJ and FWK, and cannot argue with their despair, I cannot co-sign it either.
We lost Jackie Butler in a number's game, and that is a shame, but to damn Isiah for losing Jackie and not credit him for Channing, Nate, David, Renaldo, Mardy, Eddy (YEAH, Eddy!) and Jamal strikes me as something beyond despair. What I shall not characterize. I won't dismiss their arguments, but I will not cosign them.
How come Isiah is the devil incarnate, and Kevin McHale (who has Kevin "Not Channing Frye" Garnett to build around) gets a free ride from the media fan forumites, having lost five #1 draft picks, having traded Sam Cassell and a future #1 for Marko Jaric, having signed Michael Okalawandi, smacks of something more than despair as well.
Still sucking in summer of 2007? Off with all their heads.
In the menatime. Everyone just chill.
Clean slate for 2006-2007.
