Brief Synopsis...He talked about 15 minutes too long. Once they started asking about last season, he started to forget he shouldn't talk that much.

Nice he likes Frye and Balkman though.

He sounded like a different guy, but as Clyde said, the test will be when the Knicks have a losing streak.

Geez I grow tired of guys making remarks about Steph. He did just fine in that interview. He's not always the most articulate person, but I think he did fine in expressing his point of view. The guy is constantly attacked and he's got a typical NY chip on his shoulder, but then you don't see him wilting under the heat. He's stood up for himself and he's still here. I think he's gonna have a great season and I hope and pray he stays healthy and we make the playoffs.

Its like when you and a friend meetup with someone and you start playing with them and they don't get it. Seems like after he said "I went from Ghandi to Malcom X, and I saw the movie so I understand" they just played with his head.

Marbs sounds like a 20 year old just finding himself.

Lets just say its good he can play basketball and a career in broadcasting, Coaching, or public speaking is notin the works.

There is no chance in hell this man can lead a pack of dogs yet alone be captain of a professional basketball team that will hoist a trophy.

Its all about what happens on the court and not the words off it.

I'll pray for him!

Stephon Marbury is a numbskull. I enjoyed his comment about stationary motion and whatever nonsense.

His comments about "no mom, I gotta stand up and be a man..." nutty. Now he's a self-righteous, fully empowered black man, father, husband, teammate, etc, etc (he went on on this for like 20 minutes)...

I'm glad he feels like that's a growth thing and that he's ready to step up and be a self-empowered individual, but how does that make him more mature? He hasn't learned anything. Years of coaching haven't changed his game. The "more mature" Steph still can't help but take a cheap shot at KG (the chihuahua vs a rottweiler comment).

Basically, he'll always be his own man, and he's always going to be out for himself first and foremost, and secondly everyone else. He's not only selfish, he's selfish and dumb. He'll never learn.

So are you saying that we can't win because Steph has a bad personality flaw and isn't articulate? I thought this was about Basketball, but apparently this is all centered around on whether Steph has a future in broadcasting. The guy can play and I believe that his fortunes are about to change here. Can any of you guys that just flat out hate him get past that and look at his game objectively?

Marbury is one heckuva basketball player---i dont know that this team collectively is a winning team. I get a bit scared watching Frye meltdown went confronted by a player who is playing on warped knees and just shut him down. It seems like Frye can be handled and hes our starting 4. the 3 position? the rookies=0 impact. the team fortunes rst on curry crawford and Marbury. So far that hasnt been successful. time will tell. rookies imho---20 games of nbdl to enhance skills

Just becuase you love Marbury so much and will not say anything critical of him ever doesn't mean everyone else doesn't realize his flaws. When he gets the Knicks out of the 1st round of the playoffs, you can glorify all you want, until then he's done nothing and his whole career of 20&8 is the biggest fluff I've ever seen.

Edit: I don't hate Marbury, I've always rooted for him and will continue to do so, but at the same time I realize his flaws and I will continue to hope that he changes them.

No one is saying he doesn't have flaws. What player doesn't have flaws? I'm saying that we haven't exactly had a team that could hold up their end of the bargain and you HAVE TO HAVE THAT to win games. NO PLAYER, NOT EVEN JORDAN can win by himself.
Just looking objectively at this team since he's gotten here its been a team in flux and we still don't know what we have. When Steph has a decent team around him he's been successful and we're not even talking about a great team which he's NEVER had. He hasn't lost everywhere he's been, just when he's had NO TEAM to support him. ie NJ and NY. At this point there's a chance that we may finally be able to field a decent team and I think this will show what kind of player he really is.

He's still here because he has a guaranteed contract, of about 20 mil. that no one else wants to take off of our hands. He stinks and has a lousy attitude!
I'll never trust this' team again.

The same stuff could be said about Tim Thomas, JR Rider, Derrick Coleman, and any number of "talented" but wayward players. But Marbury was brought here to lead this team, and has been extended every opportunity to do so and failed in terms of wins, chemistry, stability and leadership. And so now the equation is changed to where we need to build a team to carry Steph. Now we need to have a team that an average or better PG could succeed with while we hope Steph's persona doesn't pull it apart (again).

So much talk about what Steph wants and what Steph needs. Truth be told, when we are no longer held hostage by what's good for Steph is when these guys will be able to develop as a team.

I found it interesting that he has not talked to Crawford or Francis who he is suppose to playing in the backcourt with.

As long as Steph plays the way how he knows how he likes to know how to like to know to how to play we'll be fine

I read this thread before I actually heard the interview and of course, many of you guys severely over-reacted.

All the **** about being a man, father husband, is meaningless to me.

Heres what was valuable from an objective perspective:

-He spoke to Eddy Curry about next season. Eddy is super happy and ready to get busy next year, and his role. He thinks Eddy wants to win bad, because he feels like he has alot to prove.

-Hasn't spoken to Isiah about his role next year yet, but can see the offense he is using uses alot of movement spacing, and those are things he thinks will maximize his strengths, and that the team in general will benefit from it.

-Thinks if he and Steve play at the top of their games things will be fine.

-Knows there will be alot of pressure on him to perform because of he and isiah's relationship.

-Credited D. Lee with being the key to the 6 game win streak, with is d, rebounds and energy.

-Thinks the sky is the limit for Frye as a player.

-Came out to LV to support the team, he's excited about learning the new coaching style.

-He feels good and is ready to play right now, no injuries "I'm ready to play"

-Communicated with Francis and Crawford through mutual friends.

-He thinks the energy in the garden will be magnetic and the fans will get what they deserve.

-He thinks Balkman reminds him of Ariza and he spoke with Ariza.

side bar:

-the towel on his head and lap are what he does to keep warm instead of putting on warmups. (and then threw up some gang sign or something)

everything else was not relevant to the knicks. Steph needs me to be his translator. He'll speak and I'll say, "Whay Stephon means is..."

He is really really difficult to understand.

You have way too much Marbury hate. I honestly don't hear an inarticulate person when I listen to Marbury.

Eh I dunno I thinke people are overreacting to the same old stuff. Everybody knows Marbury can't talk. He can play ball. The issue is that the rest of the team is garbage. Either washed up or too young to really make an impact. Marbury is stuck in nomands land on a team w/out direction. I actually feel bad for him. The best years of his career wasted by IT. By the time IT is gone and we actually attempt to build a real ream, Marbury will well into his 30's and just another neverbeen.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?
