New York Daily News - The New York Knicks have another shot at acquiring Denver's Kenyon Martin, the New York Daily News is reporting, but the Knicks are reluctant to give up Channing Frye in any deal.

Denver needs a shooting guard but the Nuggets have little interest in Steve Francis. Jamal Crawford is a possibility, especially coming off a good season. Denver would prefer salary cap relief in the form of an expiring contract like Maurice Taylor or Jalen Rose.

Last season I was totally ok with getting KMart as long as we didn't give up Frye or Steph or Francis(I felt it was overpaying)....I was cool with an expiin soo (like a Mo T and maybe some youth like Robinson or Lee, maybe Craw)

But now....I am not sure I would even think about KMart unless we are in the driver's seat on this one. Only deals would do for KMart-(all deal do work on trade checker)
*=expiring deal

Francis and Malik for KMart and *Patterson (cut Patterson immediatly. Opens up a roster spot.)- ID-3230413.
*Taylor and James for KMart (because it opens up minutes for Frye at backup C)- ID-3230405.
Jalen for KMart, *Patterson, and *Eisley (cut both immediatley)and a 1st round pick next year- ID-3230428
Any combo of Craw OR Q and Malik OR Jerome-any combo of the four works for KMart.

i'm still voting en-oh on kmart. the dude's contract runs for 5 more years, from 12M to more than 16M. his game's declined, his knee is suspect, he blew his team up in the playoffs. i'm still thinking this is the kind of big money low-return low-flexibility contract that we have to stay away from.

Denver is DESPERATE to get rid of K-Mart. If we're giving them an expiring contract, they should give us at least 2 1st rd picks. This isn't like the Kurt proposal earlier; we're actually taking back about $80 mil for a question mark player.

I would agree about getting at least one pick...two picks is asking a bit much UNLESS we are talking about shipping them Jalen....Mo by himself isn't worth two picks so to get 2 picks plus KMart is a bit much,IMO.

i would want a MINIMUM of 2 picks coming back and Jerome James going out with NONE of our your players involved. Anything less is no thanks. Denver is desperate and they can want my yanker if they dont like it.

Personally I would just assume leave this jerkoff to another team

Lets not go too crazy. Don't forget how bad JJ's contract really is, and runs for 4 more years. Stevie;s for 3 more and runs as high as 20mm at the end. II think the following are fair:

Francis for Kmart and Patterson
Mo and JJ for KMart (straight up)
Mo and Q for Kmart and a pick
Mo and Craw for Kmart and 2 picks

I think Jerome and Q1 for KMart + two first rounders is fair.

Yeah, I was talking about if we were giving an expiring contract and no long-term salary. If we're doing JJ + Q Rich for K-Mart, that's pretty fair. We end up with only one bad contract and they end up with two. If anything it favors us already.

with the chances of isiah returning being 50/50, why handcuff the next gm with an albatross of a kmart deal that extends into the 10/11 season?

Thats the mentality we need for all trades from now on. We can't keep acting like the desperate team.

Why do we have to give Denver a fair trade on this one? I am tired of fair trades. Let's hold out until WE can Dolan someone else, instead of getting Dolaned on every deal.

Thats the only way I would do it, and I STILL kind of don't want to do it.

HELL NO TO KMART!!!!

They gave up 3 first rounders to get KMart. I doubt they give up 2 more to get rid of him.

all depepnds on just how much karl can't stand him and wants him gone. i read that carmelo is trying to broker a truce between the 2 of them. but once everyone knows that a player's not going to play for you . . . look what indiana ended up netting for artest.
