The guy is a great rebounder and pretty quick against other PF. He could be the glass cleaning monster we need if given the chance. Yes he was a rookie, he was the best rebounder on the team when he was in the game. Now that we Mo "The Black Hole" Taylor's contract falling off the books this year why not just sit him for the year or buy him out we need the roster space and could do without adding additional salary from a trade for him. Malik Rose would be the next to go the guy is all heart and sometimes thinks he is an option the offence. This would give our young front line the time they need to develop. Playing Lee at SF is doing him a major disservice.

I'm inclined to agree. I prefer David Lee at the PF position.

Why convert Lee to SF?

So Frye and Lee can play together?

Only 5 players can play at one time. I'd like to see Lee just play the 4 and get in there at the 3 if the match-up is right. Frye is the starter but nothing wrong with having a guy that is worthy of starting coming off the bench. Lee could play a McDyess role.....now that I said it David Lee is very similiar to the Dyess that Detroit has.

David as the three exclusively I think is just the wrong mentality to have and a great way to ruin a promising career.

maybe lee was made a SF purely so he can get PT this year. he was one of the 3 draft picks, he was marketed so he had to get some PT. but with frye, mo, ad, and sometimes malik - lee was in a #'s crunch. so they tried him out at SF. nothing wrong with it. if lee wanted minutes, it wasn't coming at the 4 last year. and not to mention that was a position of weakness for us, why not give lee a shot.

Lee provided more different skills than Mo or Malik provided. Mo was redundant as he didn't rebound or play defense. Though he was good at getting charges. While Rose doesn't have the makeup to guard any of the PFs or SFs in the new uptempo NBA. Lee provided more rebounding and hustle and made a way better impact. When Davis was in the frontcourt Lee should have still took all of Taylor & Rose mins though that still would have only been limited mins. But when they moved Davis for Rose. Lee should have took all of Davis mins in the frontcourt.

he got time at SF because he's very small for an NBA PF. He got pushed around in the post everytime he had to guard 4's. Untill/unless he bulks up and puts on 20 pounds or so he's a tweener.

or it culd of just been to get Lee used to perimeter play especially defensively.

face it Lee isn't going to be matched up against the post bigs he is going to be matched up against the perimeter ones.

the other 4 fours on the roster are either too old or to slow footed to chase around say a Charlie V or a Diaw on the perimeter. David Lee has the size and the foot speed but doesn't have the experience. In his own words after the Cav game in late MARCH:

"coach asked me what I was doing [wrong] on th epick and roll, then I realized I've never guarded the pick and roll"

seems the quickest way to accelerate his growth is to play him at the 3.

Call it spin but I see it as Larry trying to help him actually develop a career.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

It's a tough call but Lee was not a good perimeter defender last year...Lee was too slow footed to keep up with the small forwards last year...Lots of games he was torched at the position...Not his fault tho, he was definately playing out of position...He has to bulk up to be successful in this league...He will get some mins at SF on a losing team but not a winning team...

But I do agree there was no room for him at the PF and he needed mins...So SF was the spot to get mins...But there is no future for him there...His natural instinct is to rebound...You can't hang out under the basket when your man in on the perimeter...It happened too many times last year...

I don't tbelieve the intent is for Lee to play his whole career at small-forward.

Lee is a player that you have to force teams to adapt to by playing a certain way. If they force you to play there way then Lee will easily be taken out.

Suns started Boris Diaw at center and got away with it. Because they are the best in the buisness at forcing teams to play there way maximizing there players strengths rather than letting teams exploit there weakness.

If you look at Frye, Lee, Nate's game tell me that they wouldn't look amazing in Pheniox or Dallas while looking exploited on our team. Same with Ariza. Then we would be talking about how much we need a guy like Fyre, Lee, Ariza, Nate.

Isiah's draft picks the last 2 seasons have all been uptempo type of players. I say we should continue on that path, get rid of everthing else that doesn't fit.

I don't remember Lee getting abused down low. If anything Lee played great down low as far as getting tough rebounds and that type of physical play. If anything the Knicks as a team got beat inside. Lee was the lone player in there mixing it up.

Lee is a power fwd that can play small fwd depending on the match-up.

You have to understand that curry and Frye are viewed as the future of the franchise. If you want Frye playing 35+ mpg you're leaving very little for lee that way.

I don't see how grooming a guy to be a starter rather than a backup is ruining his career. But it's always tough for these tweener types, trying to figure where they belong. Guys like Gooden, K-mart, SAR, Harrington, etc, all get tried at each position from time to time. I guess Larry would rather see Lee in more of a longish SF Prince-type role rather than a smallish PF Kmart-type role, cause Kmart is a lot more dependent on a particular type of PG and style of play than a guy like Prince.

However, if a guy like Woods is better suited to the SF then Lee could get stuck there too.

It's tough for lee cause he probably needs to lose weight to play SF and gain weight to play PF and it's uncertain which way he should go. But if you want him reduced to a 15 MPG role player does it really matter all that much either way?

Time will tell, but this is the problem with a roster with too much similarity and not enough standout players.

Dadvid Lee is 6-9 250!!! He's not small. The thing is he's very agile and athletic and that would only be enhanced by him toning up and getting in even better condition. Its not so much the weight as it is your ability to carry that weight. You can actually get stronger and remain the same weight by adding muscle and losing fat. Ben Wallace is 6-9 240, but he's in EXCELLENT physical condition. He's ripped and basically that's all that Lee has to do. Its not going to mean that he can't guard PF's anymore just because he's loses weight. Just being heavy doesn't mean you'll be strong enough to hold your position. I think its a good idea for Lee to work on his handle and outside shot and at the same time work on improving his lateral quickness. With his natural rebounding skills, he's only going to be MORE effective.

if you think David Lee is 6'9 250 you have no idea what your talking about. He's 220, give or take 8 pounds.

Big difference between a guy thats 250 and 220. Please dont show me some stat or player bio. Use your eyes. Watch a game. Check out some video. you get the idea

Lee needs to hit the weight room hard. He doesn't nessesarly need pounds. He needs strength. Look at his arms. He barly got any definition to them.

in CBB he was big, fast and strong enough to play center. This just a different beast.
