This franchise is in so much of a dismal state it's hard to even think about what kind of players we have and what we need. Obviously Larry was not the cure to all of our defensive woes, and IT won't be the answer either.

It's just amazing how you can possible think about any possible trades or aquistions without incuding the coach who's going to run the team. IT is clearly not the most reliable coach, we have undisirable players that we will only recieve more bloated contracts or declining skilled players, we have a baffled coaching staff of about a 100 different minds, I mean damn...My fkng team is a complete disaster with only a slither of hope, a slither......

I for one believe that this roster in it's self is a playoff roster, and anybody with a sense of basketball knowledge can see that. But the system we use ain't for every player If larry would utilze the guys he had and not humilate them after every game, and capitilze on there strengths, He wouldn't be getting humilated himself.

This picture was played out the first day of his hiring when every single media outlet predicted a disfunctional season on the rise Not even the most pessimistic creep you know could have fathom this in there wildest dream let alone the die hards.

For me it's been hard to even think if we get a top five player by trade or aquistion ( hypethetically speaking)we would be much better. This team would still suck base on some of the apples in the bunch who are simply going to be hard to replace.

this is not a playoff roster. Curry, Crawford, Nate, Marbury, Francis, Jalen Rose, Frye, Woods and Mo Taylor ALL need the ball in their hands to have an impact on the game. Thats not building a good team. Also which of those guys has had any success winning games in the NBA? What are their strengths? Its like a line up of home run hitters, only problem is they all strike out too much and cant play the field.

We DO have talented players on this roster. I 100% believe that. I like our young guys, and I like most of the guys I mentioned above.

Whats the system we need? Take a 120 shots in a game?

Look at the playoff teams. They all have rosters with players that can do a lot of different things and do them well. We have a roster with 10 guys who are in the NBA because they can put the ball in the bucket. Thats not a playoff roster

this is a playoff roster.
Marbs, Crawford, JRose, Frye, Curry do not all need the ball in their hands, heck jrose played with vincanity.

MoT and franchise are garbarge and shouldn't be considered, but my elite 8 are basically elite role players at the moment.

Currently Larry is being treated the way he treated his players, if larry is the boss of his players, than he can say whatever he wants about them and treat them anyway he wants, same goes for Dolan, he's the boss, he can say (or not say) whatever he wants about brown and treat him however he wants.

What's good for the goose, is good for the gander. (sp).

And stop bashing this team, we have players that can do a lot of different things and do them well too...we just weren't allowed to see it and for some reason some of you really really hate the current roster and get off bashing it to pieces.

Channing Frye, David Lee, Eddy Curry, Jackie Butler, Q Woods, Q Richardson, Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford.

You say you like the young guys, these are the young guys...8 solid players when used properly.

I once again, left off the obvious punching bags (one bad apple, another obsessive slight at marbs), but sprinkle Jrose and marbury into that bunch...I see a playoff team when used even remotely correct.

Stop bashing, start thinking.

MoT and Franchise have proved to be the ball hogginess of the bunch, they will be gone. Marbury shares to ball, hate him all you want, but he gets his teammates shots. Jrose, we know he's good with ball movement.

the rest are kids. let them grow. STOP BASHING MY KIDS!!!

Really? What are they doing when they arent trying to score? Setting picks? Locking down their man on defense? Attacking the glass? We must be talking about different Marbs, Crawford, JRose, Frye, Curry and Rose. I'm talking about the ones that play on the Knicks.

This isnt bashing, its fixing. Keep telling yourself its not a problem and I promise nothing will change. These guys suck together and major changes DO need to be made. Also your "core" of players and Isiah's core are clearly a different set of players.

Hey.. your not the only one that sees a playoff team. Jalen Rose said this team did great in playstation.

The 8 kids I indicated do set picks and attack the glass and play defense, lock down their man? Maybe 10 players in the entire league can do that.

So your extremly high expectations for the 8 players under age 25, half of which are in their 1st or 2nd years is kind of...EXTREME.

Last year you were the rebuilding advocate, now you are the LB hand puppet that repeats after LB "this team sucks" "I hate this team" "they don't play the right way"

Fish, you never typed the words "the right way" before brown got here...did spreewell, Camby and company play the right way?

Get off it...

These guys play exactly the way you are begging them to play:
Channing Frye (sets picks, plays defense, attacks glass)
David Lee(sets picks, plays defense, attacks glass)
Eddy Curry (who cares, he's a bull)
Jackie Butler(sets picks, plays defense, attacks glass)
Q Woods (plays defense, attacks glass),
Q Richardson(sets picks, plays defense, attacks glass)
Nate Robinson (sets picks, plays defense, attacks glass)
Jamal Crawford (sets picks, plays defense, attacks glass..according to lB at the end of the year)

BTW, the above CORE is t he EXACT same as Isiahs CORE. In case you haven't been paying attention, and before you say Qwoods was LB's pick, replace him with Reezy and you have the same team.

Marbury and Jrose, you need somebody that can actually put the ball in the bucket (is there a team of bowens out there that I don't know about).

You are now bashing Frye? What has he ever done but play to the best of his ability.

You know what I like to call this don't you...lashing out.

Suddenly Malik Rose also doesn't set picks, play defense or attack the glass?

I hate to come at you fish, but you should reread your post.

You are even bashing Frye. One of the few bright spots this team actually had. proved better than the guy the bucks pick at number 1 IMHO.

Fixing you say, how? by packaging Frye for Eric Snow?

Like I said, I'll give you marbs and Curry, but heck I've never really many Heat or Maverick players doing your big three of locking down their man, attacking the glass and setting picks.

I'll take 2 or 3 of the starters.

let's have QRich, QWoods/DLee and Frye be those guys and curry and marbs/craw be the guys that actually score points for us.

Would that work?

ofcourse not, because you hate certain players because LB told you that you should.

Come on man...stop bashing, start thinking.

We have a playoff team, you knew it before the season and you know it now.

Stop typing for typings sake. Stop bashing for bashings sake.

Frye suddenly on your sht list, you ought to be ashamed!

Fish, you never typed the words "the right way" before brown got here...did spreewell, Camby and company play the right way?
did they share the ball and play defense? Yes

How about we change play the right way to play the Knick way? Is that fair? Who does that?

You dont read what I write, you just rehash it to suit what you think. I never bashed Frye, I bashed the selection based on team needs. Also, Frye is a nice player. But his rebounding is poor as it was in 4 years of college BB, and his defense is poor (he does try hard though) as it was average in 4 years of CBB. Curry does NOT play or try hard on defense or the glass, unless it means a putback dunk.

Your projections of these guys's skills are just unrealistic. We dont have a Bosh, Wade, Amare, Lebron on this team. If you think we do your living in a fantasy world. Its nice that we have young guys that will probably be good NBA players. But you project every one of them out to be stars.

10 lock down defenders in the NBA? Please... we were the 6th worst team in opposing FG%, 2nd worst in 3 point FG% and dead last in the # of times we sent guys to the line. Either you were getting easy shots or we fouled you.

Last year we needed a center right? What do we need this year to go to the 2nd round? Maybe just a new coach? Do we have a single player on the roster thats ever even been to the 2nd round?

I'm sorry you can distinguish bashing from just taking an honest look at our team. There are 20 other teams that have a better "young core" than we do.

Now I'm Larry Brown's hand puppet? All I have said is that a good GM would work with his coach and do whats best for the TEAM and its FUTURE.

It would be kind of be the ultimate FU if Marbury is traded right after Larry is fired. Of course, when you're getting $24-$40 million not to work, any FU only means so much.

You guys are both right.

What we need is more young players that compliment the other young guys. We need rebounders shotblockers at SF & backup C to compliment Curry & Frye. We need a pure pass first PG who looks to set up the others. Plays defense, and can hit the 3 to compliment the combo guards.

All the while getting rid of the rest to balance out the roster, cut the salary, and get rid of any characters.

Nalod only wants Marbury and Mo. T gone.

The rest I can live with.

Save Larry!!!!!!!!

The more Larry spoke, the more truth was told.

If your anti Larry, your pro Dolan.

James, Taylor, Rose, Rose, Marbury, Francis.

Buy out James after one more season. Buyout M.Rose this season. Limit Taylor & Rose to play only when it favors a matchup and let them walk.
Find trade partners for Francis & Marbury. Maybe way less talented guys with one yr shorter, and future draft picks. Unless a team that feels that one of these talents would put them over the top and give us a favorable deal. Its unlikley but possible.

Thats true, but if you put in a system that works you can get anybody to listen to you, which is just the opposite of what Larry does. His coaching style isn't for young players because as much as they want to learn, if they don't see results right way you tend to tune him out or any coach for the matter.

Steph said it loud and clear, " I tried to play larrys way but it didn't work so now I simply go back to the way I've been playing" unfortunately most young people think that way about anything. You can change maybe one or two players on this team and change the direction of the system and the coach and you more then like have a 180 degree turn around.

Dice, Van horn, Nazy, TT, all just played with us less then 16 months ago and all have been to the finals or at least the coference finals since and have played there roles to perfection. You put a player in the best possible situation so he can succeed. You don't ask SHAQ to shoot threes, then spend all season trying to teach him and when he doesn't catch on you rag him in the papers, or trade him.

So how does Isiah go out and get an athletic run and gun kinda team and then follow that up with a defensive minded half court milk the shot clock coach, and epect 45 to 50 wins in one.

Knicks: I'm confused are you saying that Dice, Van Horn, Nazy and TT didn't win here because the coach's didn't get the most of them. I think our environment and roster had more to do with that. I think these guys accepted their roles because they went to winning situations were accepting a role was the only choice. Dice was a superstar and accepted a behind the scenes role for both LB and Saunders. Here there is no standard. Noone accepts roles, they complain for more and then we fire the coach and give it to them.

I do agree that it doesn't make sense to throw LB with a run and gun roster. But the move was made to create a splash and divert attention. Nothing else.

I just find it disturbing that no matter how bad we get people still buy this malarky that we are a coach or a player away from being a contender. We are only a player and a coach away if we develop some continuity, idea of team and set a standard where the coach runs the show. Until then we can bring in Tim Duncan and he will be complaining about when he gets paid.

No one is excepting there role simply becuase there not succeeding in the role your giving them, when U put dice out there as a savior who's coming off two major ops, or TT who was a mental mess from off the court issues, KVH who actually played better then he had in years, Nazy who you prety much wanted him to be a shot blocker, athletic, rebounder ( in which he was never any of the above) you setting yourself up for trouble. Not to mention a lame duck Coach ( chaney) an old school coach (lenny) both who were lacking any real credabilty.

As far as being a coach and a player or two away from success, it has happen in many many cases so you can't exactly rule that out.

No I agree with you. that comes down to the whole team concept. We just gather names and hope they mesh instead of finding players putting them into a role and finding complimentary players for them. But I think this has been more of a managment issue than a coach issue.

As for the player or two away. Read my post again. I said WE are not a player or two away. The reason is not because it can't be done but because we have created an atmosphere of losing, getting paid, and every man against themselves. Until the atmosphere changes here guys will not come here to play basketball. They will instead bicker, complain about systems, not play together, not feed off each other and we will continue to see good players get sucked into the abyss.

I've said it a million times it is not the players. It is not the coach's. It is the atmospher of losing that continues to hang over this organization. It has an effect on every move we make and every ball we shoot. Until we change this and place a leader in charge and give him full power and support him 100% we are not one player away. We are a decade away.

Ok I can agree with that, but at the same time, we have and entire different roster and gm in the last 24 months and things have gotten far worse.

Because our GM is still at odds with our coach instead of getting on the same page with him philosophically. He hired Brown to create a splash, just like most of the trades. But that's the moves you make when you are constantly saving your job. You can't afford to build a team because you will be fired before that happens.

Right...Everything has been about, oh....if it doesn't work right away change it NOW, theres no developemnet no, learning curb, no consistancy. Then they hang on to 3 promising rookies who will eventually get traded reguardless, maybe this year or next But truth be told, I don't see anybody on this team who's a lock to end there career as knick.
