Nine of a roster of 15 is quite dramatic but not surprising.

Okay, the six Larry keepers (in no particular order) are:

1. Frye (solid rookie season, bright and coachable)

2. Jamal (improved and kept a straight face)

3. Jackie Butler (characterized by Brown as a bonus first round pick, could play some forward)

4. Malik Rose (although he can't shoot a lick - a locker room ambassador) alternate: David Lee

5. Qyntel (somthing tells me Larry is curious about this young man)

6. Eddy Curry (centers are too difficult to come by)

I'd agree with that Earl. I really wish the Knicks would trade away the other 9 and fill out the roster with a solid PG and draft picks. It would be the absolute best thing for this organization to start over with these 6 guys.

Could Dolan be convinced to buy out the leftover "unmovable undesirables" instead of buying out Larrys remaining ($40MM) in unpaid chedda?

LOL good stuff Earl... the roadside interviews really have gotten quite comical. Oh to be a Knicks fan.

Well aside from how I feel about Larry(I think everyone knows and at this point probably doesnt care that I want him back lol) but anyways. I sure hope that Isiah is working something, I know the popular choice on this site is to think that Larry only wants Theo Ratliff and guys like that but it's not like the guy was in a timewarp, he's seen plenty of guys that are receptive to playing defense and putting the TEAM ahead of the individual on the offense and are in their 20's. We shall see though.

I'd really like to see the team built around these 6 + (player in return for either Steph or Francis) + Jared Jeffries + Draft picks.

Q1 and Lee are in there somewhere, no? specially in favor of Curry

nyk4ever - you are entitled to wanting LB to return. At this point, I simply want better basketball players.

okay, imagine you're a 65+ coach with semi-serious health issues that could affect your patience and judgement...

... do you suggest restocking the Knicks primarily with veterans who are known commodities...

... OR do you put your final stamp on your NBA legacy by reshaping a problemmatic roster with yoots as the trend setters?

If your asking what Iwant then I want to bring in players that Larry wants so we can build with them and the draft picks that we choose this year for a 4 year run at the playoffs/championship. I just want to see a championship and while I don't think Larry makes a championsip, that would be silly to assume that, I think it STARTS with having Larry here.

I don't want Theo either. I was using him as the example that Larry-bashers usually use when they see
that he wants a trade, they think it's going to be him, Eric Snow or some other old vet. I think Larry knows plenty of young hardworking, defensive and team-minded players around the league.

I think that either Curry or Q2 is on that list (I bet it is Curry, Brown never needed a premier pivot to win-Dikembe was on the downside of his career, and Wallace is a great one dimensional player)....In Curry's place I think Larry wants to keep Q1.

If Larry is such a basketball genius, why did he take this job if he wants two thirds of the roster gone?

I mean, did he look at the roster and think- ok, I'll give it a try with these guys. I mean, these players are what they are- you can pretty much judge them by what they have down.

And, sorry, how can Nate not be on the list? He was single handed responsible for injecting life into this morbid squad on numerous occasions. Yes, he has his flaws, but he has heart.

franco - I struggled with Nate on Larry's wish list. The problem is matching up against the bigger guards in the league.

Make no mistake Nate has his flaws, but he brings energy, toughness and entertainment. If he's not at the point, he becomes somewhat of a liability on defense, without a big guard to get his back, and teams around the league know that.

Jamal is no defensive master, but he IS 6'5 and tries to move his feet... while providing a tough cover when he heats up.

Nate is on the bubble.

Quentin is another tough call... but a call that needs to be made... why?... With the influx of multi-skilled European /African /South American (Diaw, Ginobili, Marcus Vinicius Vieira De Souza ) players ....

... homegrown types who can (Marion, Josh Howard. Morrison) do it all...

AND revolutionary freaks (Tyrus Thomas, Rudy Gay) who can jump out of the gym... "Small" forwards will average 6'9+ in the near future.

We better get us one.

There may NOT be players of this calibre available through deals. The best avenue could be through the draft.

I think the fact that nate is a maybe is one of the reasons LB scares me...I'd rather have a bunch of loveable losers that try hard all the time like Lee and Nate.

that's just me.

I didn't have too much of a problem with last year because it was the first year for everyone from the top down.

Larry stays, we win a shtload more games.

Don't trade anybody that takes starting spots from those 6 you named, and then where are we?

I'm pretty sure this bunch of losers we have now are more adapt to letting lee and nate get minutes than some defensive veteran that LB is in love with.

Keep the team together...WORK IT OUT!

lol...I'd like to see the team stay together for another year...I may be crazy, but 4 of our 5 starters were new this year, not even thinking about the rotation craziness.

First year, let's see them work it out.

it's truly possible that everyone needed to see what everyone was bringing to the table.

23 wins is a mirage...I don't believe it and I hope through all the crying and moaning you guys don't truly believe we are a 23 win team.

You can't truly believe that Curry's production has peaked.
You can't truly believe that Q Rich is done.
You can't truly belive...

I'm just saying, these guys deserve another year (coach included), I know I was entertained.

i think the players I liked the most this year were the players brown had the most "public" problem with...that's my only fear.

When we played detroit that game and didn't even have that good of a record, when Reezy threw it down on the pistons, I cried!

Remember all the gif movies posted of nate and company...they were actually having fun, then suddenly the mood became...

nate wins dunk contest, is in a suit the next home game as a knick...huh?

Lee helps us win games with his fire and desire, he's in a suit the next game as knick...what happened?

Frye is on a tear, he's in a suit the next game ...

it's like they were toying with us for the goof.

I know we have a great team...I just know it.

RVhoss - Brown's "public" admonishing of Trevor Ariza was made convenient by the acquisition of the talented and taller Qyntel Woods. Nate was picked on but played aggressively whenever he got the minutes.

The whipping boy du jour, Marbury, didn't know HOW to please Brown amid the lineup shifts. Despite his injury, Stephon was one of the rare constants in the lineup. As a result, he always had to adjust (in his mind) to conform his game to another shift.

Marbury, despite his ego - is NOT so skilled a point guard to play musical chairs with. He rarely was comfortable with making multiple adjustments on the fly. As a result he would swing from scoring to assists with maddening rhythm.

The notion of Marbury at two-guard was never settled. It was a season long audition. Now, it is time for some difficult decision. For better or "worser"

Just set 7-8 players in stone and roll with that core until they drop.

Brown would be wise to set the backcourt rotation as early as possible and allow the young frontcourt mature.

Great team? WAY Too early to tell... and WAY too earlty to pour Haterade on.

Young team?

Definately.

the marbs to the two debate IMHO has been decided, he's moved.
Why it took a full year and 23 games, no idea, but he should be at the two often...craw can play the point.

There were times late in teh season when I saw nate out htere and I kept thinking, if that was marbury we would have atleast gotten points out of that set.

if marbury hasn't learned from this disaster, he never will.

I'm putting my money on that he has, otherwise, ADIOS.
