Definately not knick related, but still fun with the NBA draft coming.

Yankees keep paying guys to play when they have an awesome farm system.

I don't want to talk about who they let hop I'm talking bout the dudes that are out there saving the season right now.

Andy Phillips? This kid is an awesome first baseman. He has shown some power and plate disipline. U want to see more of this kid he needs the at bats. Torre is not saving him either. Torre is trying to keep him out there making giambi the dh.

Another guy that earned his stripes before a-rod I might add is melky cabrera. That triple he had was just awesome. He has great command at the plate. He is like my favorite yank right now.

Ching ming Wang is an ace! Nuff said.

I just wanna add too that terrance long is an awesome pick up. I remember a few years back the yanks were drooling over him. What happens they pay Johnny Damon which is a no brainer but still get a more that capable guy in terrance long.

I'm just beaming. I love the yanks.

What you guys think?

melky looks like a five tool player, cano will win a batting title one day soon and jeter and A-rod are still early in their primes, the yanks are set for the future, and their farm system is looking good..

The baby bombers are fun to watch....

envy, I pretty much agree with everything you said, except I don't believe Wang is an ace. To me, he's about a 3 spot pitcher, but that's still a real good thing.

It just goes to say that what's going on with the Yanks is completely contradicting what Steinbrenner likes to do. Totally go out and starphuck guys (As Nalod likes to say) but the farm players are the ones doing great.

Feel free to use "Starphuch" without my reference.

Stienbrenner sees these kids and will use them as trade fodder. Its the NY way!

Well, he hasn't traded Cano yet, has he?

Phillips isn't a "kid", he's 29 next month. Agree on the rest though, especailly Wang. He's the real deal.

I love Cano. Cano and Melkey have me interested in the Yanks again for the first time in a while. I hate Arod and Giambi.

I really like Melky - great plate discipline (more walks then strikeouts).

Cano needs to take a few more pitches - his batting average is good but he's really not that productive because he never walks and hasn't hit for much power - but great potential.

Not sure Wangs an Ace but I comfortable with him pitching.

Phillips has looked great - I wonder why he hasn't gotten a chance before.

A-Rod takes way to much flak. He was the MVP last year and will knock in 130 again this year.

Eny... I've been saying for 2 years that reports of the Yankee's farmsystem being bankrupt were grossly exagerated, now your seeing why.

They also have some VERY good young arms in the system as well. A guy to watch for possibly as early as this Sept is Philip Hughes
http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/content/printer_friendly/nyy/y2006/m02/d23/c1320400.jsp
Here's a story about him from spring training.

I have no doubt Wang is an ace and he showed it last night. He's a YOUNG Kevin Brown. Throws a sinker in the mid 90s (most sinkers are 90-92, Wangs is 95-96). He just needs to be better w/ runners on as he's not as effective from the stretch.

Ive been a season ticket holder since 96. Some things are worth paying for

you better believe it fish, for the past 10 years, the yanks have been a best buy for anyone... I agree, our farm system is better than people thing, there is a guy on realgm that follows the farm system closely, he said philip Hughes is the real deal, but there are guys like Eric Duncan, CJ Henry, and this Tabata kid that is supposedly a future stud. CJ Henry is a 5 tool guy and Eric Duncan is a can't miss, but he plays third base.. a position occupied by A-rod.... I like what guys like melky have done so far, and cano IMO is going to win a batting title one day, he can flat out hit.. Right now he is leading the allstar ballot for second baseman....

Look at the AL allstar team, every position except for one outfielder(vlad guerrero) are either yankees or red sox....LOL!!

TFK... want to know something crazy? Partly because of Eric Duncan I would trade ARod. Remember Texas is paying a huge amount of his remaining salary so he's much more tradeable than people think. He's the reigning MVP and even though he's soft in the clutch he's a super productive player. I would offer ARod to the Dodgers today for Jonathan Broxton and Willy Aybar. That would give me an up and coming stud in the bullpen, and a blue chip prospect to pursue Dontrell Willis with. Add Barry Zito (in a walk year) and you built a team around speed, defense, a line up loaded with 300 hitters and a GREAT pitching staff.

Ive been pining for a movement like this for some time... we have some great veteran players, but you need the youth and speed around them, and most of all the pitching.

Arod's not going anywhere... first of all he has a no trade & he's already said he doesn't want to play anywhere else but in NY... besides, George won't trade a guy in the prime of his career who's on pace to become the alltime HR king & is already 1 of the best players to ever play the game, no matter how "unclutch" or highly paid he may be (even though he leads the league in GW rbi's)

Eric Duncan? have you seen the stats he's putting up? you want to trade an alltime great like ARod cuz you have a prospect who's batting .209 in AAA you want to replace him with? that's insane.

forget Barry Zito too... his career #'s pitching in Yankee Stadium are horrid... let him go to the Mets so we can beat him up some more during interleague play.

forget Dontrelle too, cuz Florida's gonna want the farm, kitchen sink & your wife's left buttcheek in return

if you want to target an ace, go after Jason Schmidt... he just recorded 16 K's last night & is back to his old, dominating self... the Giants may decide to rebuild their farm system, & trading him would be a great way to do it.

I've never been so frustrated watching a guy play as I get watching ARod. The guy might be the best athlete in baseball but his approach to the game sucks. His strikeouts are ridiculous. He makes no adjustments when he's got 2 strikes on him. He's got the same homerun swing on 0-2 that he's got on 3-1. I have no problem with his fielding, and he's a great guy, good attitude, bla bla bla. He plays like he wants Aaron's record. Ive watched every at bat as a Yankee and Ive never seen him choke up on the bat with 2 strikes. You watch these young guys they have one goal at the plate. Get on base. They take a walk. They shorten their swing w/ 2 strikes. They keep the line going. Every at bat for Arod is long ball, long ball and long ball.

I forgot about the no trade. As for Eric Duncan I was thinking more the kid for the Dodgers would play 3rd. Regardless of #s Duncan is still regarded as a bigtime prospect. A lot of guys struggle. Melky did for one.

The Mets are better.

Can't wait until they meet each other again in the WS this year.

Arod's got his shortcomings, sure... believe me, i've bashed my head on the wall plenty of times when he hasn't come through w/men on base... but that's cuz we hold the guy to such a high standard... when you take a step back & consider the fact that he puts up #'s & helps this team win games w/his rbi's & HR's, he's still a player i want on my team... & certainly i'd take him anyday over an unproven prospect who has yet to put up good #'s in AAA ball... pointing out the fact that he never chokes up on the bat is reaching at any excuse to bash him... i mean come on, when have you ever seen Bernie, Tino, Paulie, Reggie, Thurmon choke up on the bat in clutch situations? these guys made their names & their livings doing what they do best... to ask that they suddenly change their approach to batting in a specific atbat to show you that they're trying to make adjustments doesn't make sense... those young guys are filling their roles & setting the table for big boppers like Jason, ARod & Jorge to drive them in... that's why you see them approach atbats the way they do... none of them are power hitters w/the exception of Andy Phillips, who if you haven't noticed, swings for the fences on every at bat as well because that's the type of hitter he is... i've seen Arod shorten his swing on plenty of occasions to get basehits up the middle... you don't accumulate a plus .300 ba over the course of a career swinging for the fences on every pitch.

as for Melky, he was batting over .380 in Columbus when the Yankees called him up this year, but ask any Yankee fan & there's no one out there who would have said "I'll take Melky over Matsui or Sheff" a couple weeks ago... now that he's proven himself in the majors, that might have changed... i suspect Melky will be a mainstay in this lineup for a longtime... Sheff's days in pinstripes are probably over after this season.
