OK guys. This is just a BETA version of the tradechecker.

When you try it out, bear in mind the following things.

We are still adding:

Display teams salary figure on both the first and second pages

Remove the “refresh chart” button (as this is now unnecessary)

Put a running $ total of players selected on the team table page

Incorporate draft picks and trade exceptions and remove old players

Tooltips on player name to show short version of stats (point per game, rebounds per game, assists per game, age, height, weight)

Tooltips on contracts to show each remaining year on contract, showing player options, team options and restricted free agency)

Put in contract clauses.

Tooltips on contract clauses with an explaination of what each one is

Adjust the graph so it shows 0 for anything within 25% (done)

Display new team salary figure in results page.

Display total salary in and out in results page (including all years remaining)

Shade every second line of player names to make it easier to see

In the “trade to” drop-down box, include a default blank choice, so users can easily see which players they have selected

When clicking on player names, it takes you to nba.com player pages

Pictures in results?

Move the “verify trade” button to somewhere more accessible

In the results page, always organize the players so that incoming comes before outgoing (right now, they jumble depending on where a player is coming from)

Incorporate team logos in team tables and results

A different colour for players in the last year of their contracts. Or perhaps a team choice for all expiring contracts?

A tool tip for team names, where it tells you name of coach, GM and current position? (not sure if we are doing this)

Assigning each trade a number that you can see your trade again.

If the result means that a team has over 15 players, bring back the team table so you can choose which player(s) to waive.

Also, the name of the Tradechecker will be changed. Can all of you please suggest a name (perhaps an acronym or something like that), and we will use the best one.

Another thing. Can I please have some input as to whether you all think the chart is easily understood, or do we need to put explaination notes.

With all that in mind, here it is. All your input would be appreciated.

Yeah, but both of those are too much of a take on realgm. Pehaps something more original?

Basically:

NY Trades: Steph, stevie, Malik, Jerome and Channing (have to give to get)

for: Eddie Jones (last year of contract), Hudson, Hassell (defense), Griffin (shot blocking), Camby (shot blocking center that's not washed up - maybe fragile though...), Miller (LB type PG)

Memphis trades: Eddie Jones and Troy Bell

for Mark Blount (center), Banks (tough PG), Patterson (tough SG/SF defender)

Sota trades: Blount, Davis, Hudson, Jaric, Hassell, Griffin, Banks

for Steph, Kenyon, Jerome "Big Game" James

line up: PG-steph, sg-McCants/whoever, SF-KG, PF-KMart, Center-James/whoever

Denver trades: Kmart (headache), Camby, Andre Miller, Patterson

for: Franchise (PG), Malik Rose (good vet), Channing Frye (for Camby), Ricky Davis (SG they need next to Melo), Jaric (PG/SG combo)

^ so I think 1 feedback is the acceptance/rejection page has got to be tight. People have got to be able to cut and paste their trades to forums with ease. Also, each accepted trade should have a transaction # that can be recalled.

What we're going to do is create a cut-and-paste option, where it takes you to a greatly simplified page, kinda like a printer-friendly page.

There will be a transaction Number feature, where you can recall trades.

The players in the last year of their contracts will be shown in a different color. I thought that would be useful for Isiah. Always thinking of the Knicks, thats me

Is everyone happy with the graph? It's actually already been updated, but not online yet. Now it will show 0 if the players you put in are within 25%.

Bear in mind that the tradechecker takes into account the NBA salary cap and teams salary figures. The graph, however does not. Its simply a tool to see if the players are within 125%.

for me, the graph is OK but I would like to see better use of the space. When proposing a trade that involves more than 2 teams, I have to scoll the page up and down to remember who is involved, what team is getting what player and how much money is going and coming. Those stats are more useful than just 1 image reresentation.

What we can do is have a floating summary somewhere on the page that will tell you which teams are trading which players and how much the total salary is. Would that be good enough?

First off, Awesome job Firefly, this is amazing, being a programmer myself(a crappy one at that) I know how tough and how much time and energy go into these kinds of things.

Things I found.

1. Martin already said it but i'll second it. Scrolling up and down for a 2team trade was a bit tedious.

2. The all Caps team names in the Team Selection kinda bugged me out.

Between what you have and the list of what your putting in, this trade checker is going to be the best one in the world. I mean that.

it's not like there's a copyright on the GM trademark (unless we're talking automobiles that is)... the trade checker in itself is a bite off RealGM anyway... mine as well trump their name as well... what could be better than "UltimateGM"?
