Darko on the Magic: 7.9ppg, 4.5rpg, 52%fg, 2.1blocks... living proof that sometimes rookies need time and not everyone on the planet responds well to being belittled.

and yet Brown called him delusional and benched for 11 of his last 13 games as a Knick. stats don't tell the whole story with Brown, but it's true that every single Knick averaged career lows in almost every category.

also, you'll note that Ariza is putting up the same numbers in about 6 minutes less per game, which means he is playing far better in Orlando, given how few minutes he plays.

also, when you factor in tonight's numbers Ariza's number are better across the board in Orlando this season than they were in NY, despite playing only 14mpg. hey, I just feel like we're rebuilding and it was idiotic to ostracize a defender like Ariza.

I think LB deserves credit for seeing Ariza's potential and getting him traded to a team where he can acheive it.

Great point about every knick averaging career lows under Brown. In fact, Brown has left a trail of players behind in his rareview (after being forced out of just about every single job he's had) who have all seen thier numbers increase after his exit.

Exactly....Ariza in my opinion, was everything the Knicks needed that they moved away from..A perimeter defender who played the passing lanes well and can be that role player who doesn't need to ball to be successful...A guy who played hard when you gave him a chance...I always thought that was the definition of a Larry Brown player...Of course until he pissed Larry off....

I really hope you're not insinuating that Ariza is the reason they're 16-4 in their last 20.

Give me a break about Ariza. I can't believe how many people are getting worked up over the last game of the year in what amounted to an exhibition. Getting worked up about Ariza's numbers tonight is tantamount to being excited about the Knicks beating the Nets. Its moronic.

Ariza was a plus that Brown turned into a minus. That's pretty indisputable. He laid into the youngest guy on the team then bemoaned the lack of defenders and guys who were willing to sacrifice. There was no reason to destroy Ariza. And whether or not Ariza was "responsible" for the wins, he was a core rotation player for the last 19 games of the season and put up good numbers and helped them win. We need more guys like him.

edit: and clearly, I was responding to an assertion that Ariza had piled up meaningless numbers in losses. Sure, he piled up the numbers in meaningless wins, but that squad got 16 wins in 6 weeks. we got 16 wins in 6 months.

ariza had no work ethic here. maybe the trade woke him up and in turn will make him achieve his potential to be bruce bowen without a shot.(which still makes him wack)

it took Bowen years to develop a shot. Ariza is 20. whatever, he's gone, just like our no.1 pick and just like our 05-06 season.

i dont remember bowen not having a shot...and u were willing to wait years for him to do that?

as a guard in this league u need to hit the open jumper...when he was here he couldnt do that and didnt show much promise to learn how....

you don't remember Bowen from the Knicks/Heat series? couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and he never had the athleticism Ariza does. but he's spilt milk like the rest of this season, so, fine.

yep, and ariza is only 20. it's not that he can't hit a shot, he just can't do it in the NBA. he hits his free throws.
