"I wouldn't trust the evaluation of a team that has the highest payroll and one of the worst teams..."

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/ncaatourney06/columns/story?columnist=katz_andy&id=2387367&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos3

One NBA player personnel director who watched Thomas in Atlanta told ESPN.com that he should stay in school and become more refined as an offensive player so he could become the No. 1 overall pick. But if Thomas does come out after this season, he would shoot to the lottery, "at the minimum."

"It's more than running and dunking and jumping to play at that level," Brady said of Thomas. "There was some talk that the New York Knicks wanted to take him No. 1 but I wouldn't trust the evaluation of a team that has the highest payroll and one of the worst teams.

"Secondly, Tyrus can't go to a bad team in the NBA and make that team better," Brady said. "That would be the worst environment for him. He's 19 years old and would have to go to a veteran team. He's not ready to go and be a dominant player, not emotionally or physically."

One thing is certain: Thomas is heading to Indianapolis this week, where he'll team up with his buddy Big Baby to try to lead the Tigers to a national title. That's something Shaq and Stanley never did.

I think the more telling quote was "It's more than running and dunking and jumping to play at that level". Something that Isiah should know but refuses to adhere to with his asinine "younger and more athletic" mantra. Like that's all it takes as he keeps collecting stupid and lazy players.

isles, you can say that about alot of the vets he's acquired, but not the kids... they're all hard workers.

Frye is somewhat smart but he's not a hard worker on defense.

Nate is a hard worker but he's as dumb as a bag of rocks.

Lee is smart and works hard but his game is limited.

what about Butler? i think he's got a nice game down low for a 20 yr old kid... & from everything i see when he's on the floor, he's a hard worker as well... same can be said for Qyntel, though LB probably gets the credit for his acquisition.

Nothing wrong with Butler but I don't see him as being anything more than a backup. Which isn't a knock on him, he definitely has a role.

Qyntel is a moron. Players like him are a dime a dozen and most don't come with his baggage.

80MM? Isn't it more like 110MM?

Sad but fair but also hard to understand why a player in his position who's hoping to get drafted early would start taking shots at NBA franchises. Maybe he just wants to scare the Knicks out of trading up to get him, but I don't think I've ever heard a potential lottery pick take this approach before.

You still haven't. It was his coach that said it.

This a non-issue. Knicks number 1 pick belongs to Chicago. Theres no way for Knicks to get him. So what Larry Brown wants him, so would half the league if he declares..........

My bad. I didn't click on the link. I just looked at what was posted here. I thought the first sentence in quotations was something Thomas had said but I see it appears later as something the coach had said.

I disagree 100%

Frye works very hard on defense. He's just any good at it. Its not from standing around, he just doesnt know where to be. He's got the same problem on the boards. He will get it in time. Its like learning how to hit a curveball.

David Lee and Nate are NBA players. Starters? Maybe, maybe not. At some point its certainly possible. The upside is there, but they are definatly here to stay.

Add Jackie to that and you have 4 good young prospects. Not good enough to build a team around IMO but certainly some good glue players, and definatly hard workers.

First of all, no one knows how hard Frye works on defense. Are you the ****in janitor at their practice facility? Do you watch him practice?

And T2 is a beast. A mini Dwight Howard. Don't shortchange him. His defensive instincts are special.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

gee Bobs, have you noticed some guys lift their hands up on D while others do not? Can you make a judgement on how hard a guy plays by watching him during a game.

Lighten up young fella, the end is near. FYI the Blazers when to the playoffs for 20 straight years :)

Does that coach think that the Knicks have the no.1 pick? hahahahahahahaahahahahahaha. Little does he know Tyrus WILL go to a veteran team in the Bulls.
