when people talk about next year and who the knicks will trade for the names seem to be K-mart, boozer, tyrus thomas, shelden williams, etc...has everyone forgotten that we have a 22 year old, athletic, skilled, 6-11 pf named channing frye. why do we need a new one? channing did a great job this year for a rookie, in fact when he got consistent minutes he was averaging 15 and 6, which is actualy better than many rookie pf's that are now stars did. look at chris bosh, kenyan martin, carlos boozer, the list goes on. in fact those are better numbers than K-mart has this year! they have since gone down due to browns ridiculously bad rotations, but i have to wondor why this position is getting so much attention as a need position. i understand looking at better back-ups like evans or fortson, but why get an older more expensive guy who does not have channing's potential, if we just let frye play he will be potentially an all-star level player in a few years. Channing does need to work on his defense, but most rookies do and he will improve with minutes, for those saying he needs to earn minutes, have you watched him? he outplays any other pf on this team when he's on the court and defensivly he is no worse than several other guys on this team who play regularly. there is no doubt a lot of work to be done with this roster and positions that need to be completely changed, possibly the whole backcourt and BACK-UP bigs, but i dont think our starting pf next year should be much of a question.

in the case of KMart, he also bring alot of intangibles along w/the offensive #'s he puts up, namely tough defense, shotblocking, running the floor & finishing on the fastbreak, & the type of passion that not many players in this team play with... in the case of a less talented player that people have advocated trading or signing for like Reggie Evans, it's tough inside defense & rebounding that they're after... it's all about adding a complementary player to this roster who will bring some of the things they're currently lacking... i'd have no problem w/starting Channing next year... i think he deserves a look before we write him off as not being our permanent solution... but the main goal is to improve the team overall.

You need a minimum of THREE good frontcourt players. Also, Frye is a finesse player. We need to compliment him with a tough, quick interior defender. Someone who can strike fear in opponents when they contemplate driving to the basket. (Not necessarily fear of injury but just fear of getting their shots blocked.) I think Frye can improve his shot-blocking skills (and he looked great in his last game), but I don't think he alone will be the intimidator that we need. This is an even stronger need because Curry is such a soft player on defense.

because the Isiah era has been littered with offensive players with limited floor game and minimal defensive presence and Frye is included in that list.

Frye and Curry frontline accentuates this. My feeling is move 1 [for value]. Dangle both, whichever draws the more favorable deal - a young complimentary rugged frontcourt player and draft pick being most favorable -gets dealt and the frontcourt is rebuilt around the talents of the other.

tyrus thomas' stock is RISING.

you trade both picks + nate to get as high as you can to grab him but chances are that when all is said and done, we probably are gonna have ZERO shot at him.

i have no issue with evans or even a guy like danny fortson, as i said i can definetly understand bringing them in, im in favor of that completely. my problem is with k-mart and boozer, they are max salary guys that have injury problems, who will start and take away a lot of channings minutes. we need role players like an evans, not injury prone "stars" like martin.

Boozer/Martin eat a starting frontcourt spot, not minutes.

If all are here

beat out Curry for the starting 5

or

beat out everyone else for the 25-30 backup minutes between the 4 & 5

If Marbury is overpaid then Martin just flat out is stealing money. 90+ million for this guy. Are you serious. And you guys are killing Isiah for his moves.

The guy has never put up more than 16 points in a season or has he ever had more than 10 rebounds and that is including the Nets. He has no jumpshot to speak of, is lost in a halfcourt system and his so call defense is laughable. I would give Kiki, the Knick job after he made this trade because he certainly would have prove that he could get the best Isiah, like Rod got the best of him.

Oh I'm sorry. You're right what am I thinking. I mean this season is unacceptable. We need to make significant changes to the roster. 1) We got to get Kwame in here somehow right? 2) Oh yeah Starbury is so overrated, I mean Ridnour is the future 3) Wait though is it Smush Parker 4) Frye clearly isn't the answer so lets acquire Cooke, no wait Kenyon Martin is the answer since the Knicks spend money unwisely lets give 90 million to a guy who is oft injured and needs his legs because that's the biggest part of his game despite the fact he hasn't ever come close to averaging 20 points or 12 rebounds in a single season 5) Sorry clearly this team desperately need the stud Wilcox who even made cheap Sterling say we rather give Brand the max then wait on this guy.

Knicks desperately need a ferocious rebounding PF that bangs, do the dirty work and have Curry's back..

Unless Frye becomes that player, i don't see these 2(curry and frye) playing alongside each other much longer..

Examples: ChrisWebber/Brad Miller, Oakly/Ewing/ Shaq/Grant in Orlando/ Smits/Antonio D. or Dale Davis in indiana/ Hakeem/Otis Thorpe @ houston/ Currently Brand/Kaman for Clippers..
