http://www.clickondetroit.com/video/4749821/detail.html

Larry always talks about team and saying people needs to buy into the concept of team..This, of course doesn't apply to himself...During the Championship run with the Pistons, Larry was thinking about Larry and not about the team as he like to put it....

Larry has to be the show no matter where he is....This is the NBA, it's not about the coach, It's about the players...The guy is competing with Steph for spotlight...imgaine that....

Check out what Pistons owner had to say about Larry...

The NBA is def about coaching. Players are a dime a dozen. There are dozens of good players, and only about 10 good coaches. You draft new good players every year. How often does a good coach come around?

A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

The NBA does not promote coaches....When is the last time you see an ad for a game and it's the faces of the coaches...That only happens in college....College coaches get the endorsements..Name the last NBA coach you see pushing products...

Brown is a HOF but there is something to be said about a serious generation gap, the Olympic team is the prime example.

Ahm, hello? Are we talkin about promotions? I was under the impsression we were talkin about winning games! You care about how many snickers your team sells? I don't give a f@ck!

When it comes to winning its about coaching, not players. Players can be had anytime. Please start makin some sense man, instead of trying to change the subject to something completly irrelevant.

And just btw, college game is ALOT more intersting to watch sometimes then the lame pros playin out the strech of a pointless season. So they just might have something better then the NBA as far as who gets promoted.

Olympics may have been a bad example. Bad team makeup, bad coaching style.

Oh, Pop coaches the same way as LB and he seems to be getting to his players.

The olympic team sucked. It had no shooters, and played w/no team concept. You can't just put together a bunch of allstars and expect to beat real bball teams. Basketball is a team sport. Thats the bueaty of it. The past few yeasr has seeen the advent of one-on-one crap, the AND1 tapes, thigns that take away from the game. So no wonder American players are gettin worse.

When it comes to winning its about coaching, not players. Players can be had anytime.

Michael Jordan. Hakeem Olajuwan. Shaq. Kobe. Duncan. Magic Johnson. Larry Bird.

That is what wins championships. Players not coaches. Coaches help, but you need great players and they do not come around often.

It is much easier to land a great coach than a great player.

Especially Tim Duncan.

I don't see that Popovich coaches the same as LB at all. And he certainly respects his players more.

Those are the alltime greats. They get drafted by a team and stay on it thir entire career. I'm talkin about operatin w/out having alltime great. Like us.

Considering we never pick high, even when we suck, as we alwasy trade away our picks, the only way for us to build is through coaching and a team concept.

Pop was LB's understudy. Same system. Oh, and Pop used to rip Parker a new one about once a month in his first year or so.

I know Popovich was LB's protege, but he has his own system, and moreoever, he has adapted his style to his players as they have changed. For example San Antonio does believe in running even though they are an excellent half-court team.

I remember Popovich remarking on Parker, but I don't remember him saying anything as offensive about Parker as LB. In any case, it doesn't make it right.

and remember, it was george karl that had the US team a few years before and they didn't fare too well either. he asked for some change in the make-up of the team and it didn't happen. now you're kind of seeing it happen.

i bet you if you swapped lb and pop, the spurs would run pretty much the same way. the spurs can go inside out b/c they have duncan. we tried that but we have curry. the spurs have excellent defense to allow them to have some fast breaks. we don't. the spurs have manu and parker. we don't. how can you say lb doesn't coach anywhere like pop - they don't have the same personnel.

but if they did, i bet you it would look eerily similar.

I thought you were referring to going for it all.

Even if we are talking about "normal winning" through team concept, etc. I don't see that LB has fostered those types of ethics in this team. It almost seems as if he is trying to set up people against each other. When I talked to my peoples in Philly and Detroit they said: Great coach but what an ass-hole!

I bet if you swapped Popovich and a lot of coaches the Spurs would be great. Popovich is a good coach, but I don't think for a minute that he is the determining factor in that team's greatness. Tim Duncan is.

I don't completely buy into that. Coaches make a difference. The defining difference? Maybe not.

But look at the Kobe/Shaq Lakers before Jackson showed up. Or Jordan before Jackson showed up.

No one thought the Detroit team would come close to LA a couple of years back, even with a hurt Mailman.
