Trade One

Francis, David Lee, Denver's '06 #1 to Dallas

Jerry Stackhouse and Josh Howard to New York

Why Dallas does it: well, I'm not sure they would do it. It's a tough sell because Howards a great young player at a manageable price. However, if Jason Terry bolts, Francis is an upgrade. David Lee is young and the pick sweetens the pot.

Why New York does it: well, Howard would be perfect, he's young and he brings in much needed perimiter D. Stackhouse has a year left on his deal and the Knicks get out from under the Francis deal while managing to parlay it into a defensive upgrade.

Trade Two

Jamal Crawford, Maurice Taylor, Jerome James and the Spurs '06 #1 to Denver

Ruben Patterson, Kenyon Martin, Denver's '07 #1 to New York

Why Denver does it: well, Denver gets out from under K-Marts deal and basically splits that deal into two smaller more manageable deals and one big expiring deal. This deal also supplies them with a first rounder in this years draft which they otherwise wouldn't have. Denver needs guards. Jamal Crawford is guard. Hopefully they think that means he guards people.

Why New York does it: well, K-Mart brings the defense and the toughness. You don't do this deal unless you're assured his knee is ok. Patterson brings defense, plus he expires. The Knicks take on a lot of salary so a first pick should be demanded. Also, the Knicks rid themselves of two mistakes: Craw and James.

This leaves us with:

C - Curry
PF - K-Mart
SF - Howard
SG - Stackhouse
PG - Steph

Bench: Frye, Jalen, Nate, Butler, Malik, Patterson, Q-Rich

Is this preposterous?

The year of howards draft I said I'd draft him at #8. I got panned for that one.

I don't think Steph and Larry can co-exist.

Well if the only bad thing I get in response is in regards to Stackhouse starting, that's cool. My goal was to figure out a way where we could do some mutually beneficial deals, improve our defense and take back less salary. I think these deals accomplish those goals. I think it balances our team well, but since I don't follow the other teams, I'm not sure if these deals ruin their chemistry or whatever.

I'm not the type of dude that uses trade checker all day long, but with the current state of the Knicks I figured I'd give it a crack. I guess I didn't do too bad. Even if these aren't the deals we ultimately see, I really hope this is the direction we go.

Not bad. These look good. I think Dallas losing Howard is a tough sell, especailly as well as they've played lately. If they get bounced earlier than expected in the playoffs, then maybe.

One thing we're missing though is no traditional Larry Brown PG. Anyway we can get Andre Miller in the Den trade?

No way Dallas trades Josh Howard he I can't think of any threes besides maybe shawn marion that I would want on my team as far as being a two way player that goes about his business and can help a team win and he rebounds i would say he is top five at his position

No way anyone takes on James, put I like where your going I would rather send steph to dallas put his contract is a little to much for them to take......not to harp but how can anyone who makes 5 million as an exec bring in James, Isiah is a terrible evaluator of talent, I really think he has help in drafting because everyone free agent move or trade he has made has been terrible.......

Dallas deal would be sweet

nice trades- I'd prefer not to take on Martin's contract- but if you're moving some of our albatrosses, then great.

i'd go both trades in a heartbeat, but i don't see either one going down realistically.

first, DAL loves Josh Howard, & i don't see them trading him... plus they already have a young PG in Devin Harris who can step in if Terry bolts.

as for the DEN trade, if it was assured that KMart's knees were ok, i don't think DEN trades him... you'd have to make that deal KNOWING that there's a big risk of him going down because of his injury again... if u could unload Craw & JJ in the deal, i would still do it in fact... KMart's mere presence alone will be a more positive influence on this team imho.

i can see this happening: jalen + lee or pick for odom

then the lakers parlay jalen (expiring) + lee/pick + bynum + kwame (expiring) for kg + filler later in the summer.

i'd love to add Marquis Daniels & Devin Harris from DAL to this squad too... too bad we have nothing they would be interested in other than Channing Frye.

I'd take Odom in a second. He's like a star role-player. He does a little bit of everything but on a much higher level than your average role player. He really understands the game and he's the type of player you would want to play alongside Curry. He's a heck of a rebounder/passer and can play PF, SF, Point forward and can guard a center for a few minutes depending on the opposition.

Brown loves Odom. Other than Duncan, Odom played the most minutes in the olympics and brown went out of his way to praise Odom as one of the most underrated players in the league.

I would also love to add Lebron James and Dwayne Wade to this squad.

other than for the purpose of being annoyingly smug, what does that comment have to do w/the one i made? do you even equate Marquis Daniels & Devin Harris, 2 bench players, to superstars like Lebron & DWade?

Our chances of adding Marquis Daniels and Devin Harris are about the same as our chances of adding Lebron and Wade. Devin Harris is a young stud PG who they are grooming to take over after Terry leaves. Why the hell would they trade him?
