i only post this b/c i just can't see how they want a steph + francis backcourt. of course it's all speculation but conventional wisdom would say that it can't work.

I agree with DJ. If they can get rid of Marbury by tomorrow they will. The near twenty million is a bit of a problem though... I've said all along that Francis and Marbury are basically identical players: shoot first point guards who don't defend well and are a pain in the ass to coach. Why would we want two of them? One should go or both. It's a sad state that Francis is the best an expiring contract like Penny's can bring. I am not thrilled by the trade and wonder why anyone is. Are we going to pay Francis and Marbury for years to come? And win nothing? We need a center and a tough power forward. We don't need another guard who shoots too much, doesn't defend and is a pain in the ass to boot.

Here's a thought; Maybe Garnett to NY was a smoke screen to cover up the fact that Marbury will be traded back to Minny. At first I wanted to trade Marb to Minny as a slary dump (for Mccants, Griffin, draft picks and exprings) but now that we got Franchise, Im thinking bigger.

I think a 3 or 4 team blockbuster is comming down the pike and Marbury and either Craw or Q will be gone tomorrow. And I have a feel that Minny will be one of the teams.

edit: because if this is that ridiculous Ricky Davis trade, it's not founded in reality. Ricky Davis can't be traded in a multi-player deal for the rest of the season, per the new CBA. you have a 48 hour window to move a recently traded player in a multi-player deal, after that it has to be one for one for the next 60 days.

though, that same guy posted this, which is pretty interesting and I believe, I just don't believe the Ricky Davis end of this deal. I guess we're on Marbury watch the rest of the day. Funny how Marbury wasn't one of the guys MSG asked to rate the Francis trade and it does make you wonder how serious Marb's shoulder injury really was... oh the conspiracies abound when Coach Brown is in town...
The media has failed to report a meeting between Larry Brown and Isiah Thomas 2 weeks ago. My source who is an agent that manages one of the players in NY told me that Larry Brown went to Isiah 2 weeks ago and this is what he said, or close to it:

"I've won everywhere in the NBA when I'm given 10 guys who will listen to me and learn to play the right way. I don't care if they didn't play D or pass the ball to begin with.. that can be changed."

Isiah then asked Larry Brown to identify those on the team that he considers not listening, to which Larry Brown replied "Ariza, Marbury, Nate Robinson."

That's why Ariza was shipped out. That's why Francis was brought in, replacement for Marbury. And that is why, after insisting all season long that the rookies are untouchables, suddenly in the past 2 weeks Nate Robinson has been put on the table.

I think you can guess that my source manages one of those players who will listen to Larry Brown.. therefore he isn't traded yet, because Larry Brown believes he can change someone's playing style completely if they are willing to listen.

Of course as usual some of you won't believe me, but I'm not bluffing, ask yourself whether the things I've said here actually make sense or not.
