A lot of missed dunks but the ones he did pullover were amazing for his size. The Spud Web assisted dunk was crazy!
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

I was thrilled by Nate's slam dunk over Webb. Was anyone else nervous and shaking? I was very scared and nervous.

I'll repost this here.

Fact is, in the highlight reels, you wont see the misses, and the stuff Nate did deserves the win.
1. Bounce pass 360 spin move.

2. Q bounce pass for the jam

3. Between the legs jam

4. Spud bouce pass jump over his head STANDING for the jam.

5. Jump, between the legs TWICE throw off the backboard jam.

Creativity, hops and old school props. He deserved to win. No question IMO.

With this system, you should just do all crazy dunks that you make about 1 out 100 times since there's no penalty for missing

I think NR deserved it because his dunks had so much more degree of difficulty, even though AI's were very tough. AI got weaker towards the end, and it did seem as if the fix was in favor of NR down the stretch.

However, I don't recall Spud missing any dunks when he won. Spud is an inch or two shorter than NR.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Back then there was a 1 do-over rule I believe, so the most difficult dunk Spud did was the bounch pass two hand jam. Other then that, the mere fact that he put it in at 5"7 won him the contest. The degree of difficulty on Nates dunks was far greater that any dunks attempted back then. And of course it will continue to get more and more complex, as people have to get more and more creative to be original.

If you did a two-hand windmill nowadays (without wearing a 'Nique jersey), you aint getting 50 from nobody!

Cool.

I only heard his last three or four dunks on the radio driving home, and it sounded like he had little shot of winning.

Spud also had the semi 360 from under the hoop. With unlimited attempts who knows what he could have done? I don't mean to diminish NR because his dunks were more ambitious than Spuds.

On another note: 'Nique beat Jordan in my book. Jordan's last dunk that he got a 50 on, he did earlier in the same competition! No 50's for repeat dunks! But those judges never would have made it out of Chicago alive if they hadn't given it to MJ!

Nate had two amazing dunks. If he had tried that between the legs twice dunk first it would have been AMAZING! to everyone. But people were hyped for something even greater. Measure all the dunks against each other and Nate the Great won hands down.

Great. Mow trade him in the morning.

Contest don't mean a thing except his ego got bigger.

Im happy he won, really. Great athlete, very talented.

Just not the kind of player we need at this time.

If the team can improve around hiim and pull him up, I can live with that.

Save DLee!

So change the rules for next year and have a rematch. These were the rules this time, and by the rules Nate won it no question.

If they all know there will be only 1 do-over per dunk then they will prepare for that and whoever wins it according to the rules next year will deserve that one too.
