I don't get how some media outlets keep referring to him as a future star. All I see is a jumpshot and not enough strength to get anything done inside.

I see the beginning of an inside game, and a willingness to mix it up.

is that even relevant to the topic? the question was why do media outlets refer to Frye's future star potential... Dirk had similar promise when he came along w/a similar style perimeter game... whether he realizes that star potential is anyone's guess... that's the same question you can pose to any young player in the NBA.

Maybe you need more experience as a scouter.

you can't compare Frye to Dirk ever. Dirk is a 7ft SG. He can bring the ball up and create his own shot and always did. Frye is a spot up jump shooter.

i'm comparing them during their rookie seasons... Frye's #'s are actually better than Dirk's were in fact... where did i say Frye is comparable to Dirk right now? both are strong jumpshooters, Frye plays a bit more inside than Dirk... Dirk has more of a SF type game... doesn't mean Frye can't be every bit as good as Dirk someday... he's got that type of potential in my eyes... & apparently, in the eyes of many media outlets as well.

I don't think he does, he's not quick enough. it just wouldn't be natural for him. If anything he gets stronger and becomes a consist post threat but he's so weak inside. If Curry reached his potential Frye we could live with Frye spotting up on the perimeter but the chances of Curry reaching his potential after 6yrs in the league is as slim as Frye developing a post game.

We really need a 3rd piece to the frontcourt puzzle. Someone who can defend/rebound and block shots. Frye would still get his 30+mins off the bench since Curry will be in foul trouble in only 28mins of action.

The reason why Frye and Dirk aren't good comparisons is b/c Dirk can handle the ball like he's 6'6". I would have a heart attack if I saw Frye bringing the ball up the court. Dirk is a 3 pt shooter. Frye is a mid range shooter, and Larry Brown will NOT allow Frye to shoot 3s, very much. So in terms of comparing games, it's not really valid. But in terms of saying that Frye can be AS GOOD, that's a long shot, but hey, anything is possible. I'd prefer Frye to actually stay away from the Dirk area, and continue to work on his posting up and his defense and rebounding. NOT his 3 pt shooting.

Channing can hit the 3... his shot is fluid & he's made some this year... he can model his game after Dirk's if he wanted to... ur right about Dirk's ballhandling skills.

Frye also has shown some inside game, with that little hook shot, as well as an attempt at doing some other things. He just needs to keep working at it. He has the work ethic, which helps a lot, but we'll see what happens.

I agree with you that HE CAN, but that doesn't mean I WANT that to be part of his game. How many times has a bball player discovered a 3 pt shot and become too 3 pt happy? I also don't THINK it will happen, b/c I silly as this sounds, but I rarely see Channing practicing it. I've come to a few games this year, and during shootarounds and warmups, I haven't seen him take ONE 3 pt shot. It's just not part of his game plan. He can, but he doesn't do it.

Guns... uhmmm, this post is ridiculous. The value of a 22 yr old, 6'11, PF... who can stretch a defense with his range... on one of THE hardest skills to develop... the outside shot. He has some nice post moves. His effort is outstanding. He only need more 1> experience and 2> strength. Let me guess, you wanted Bynum?

frye isnt like most people as he works hard and only cares abour getting better like richard jefferson. remember when jefferson had no shot but worked at it during the off season and what is his shooting percentage now >50%. I predict frye worked ahrd on his inside game and building muscle and becomeing the person most new yorkers expect out of him
