Oh...I just don't see him as being tough or defensive minded.

Actually, Miles is a decent defender. He blocks a good # of shots from the SF spot.

Pietrus= would love to get him, but he just moved ahead of Dunleavy and I'm sure they aint moving him

Fisher= No way! Bad contract and I hate his game. All he does on the offensive end is toss up threes. Never takes the ball to the basket never makes his teammates better.

Fortson= designated fouler. We already have one of those in Jerom James. No thanks!

Evans= Good rebounder but couldn;t score if his family's life depended on it. Basically he's like a younger version of Malik Rose. Only take him if we don't have to give up much.

KMart= Would love to see him here but as you said, without giving up frye.

I'll sacrifice the deficiencies for defense. A good team is the sum of its parts. It's a lot easier to build around a team that plays defense and plays hard every night keeping you in games.

i'm shooting more towards next year... these are the guys i'd like to see brought in (trying to be somewhat realistic here):

Al Harrington - (sign & trade) i've always loved this kid's game, & i think he'd be the perfect solution at the 3 - can also play minutes at the 4

Mike James - (sign & trade) tough defender, plays like Nate but plays under control, knows LB's system - use Nate as a trade chip in another deal

Matt Harpring - (free agent) if David Lee is traded (i have a feeling he might be), then bring in a guy like Matt Harpring, who brings alot of the same qualities in a player... high basketball IQ, can make the open jumper, good defender, runs the floor, rebounds, good team player... i'd rather hold onto Lee though, but you have to give up something to get something in this league (Al Harrington)

C - Curry / Butler
PF - Frye / Mo T / Malik
SF - Harrington / Woods / Harpring
SG - Rose / Craw or Q Rich (trade the other)
PG - Marbury / James
IR - TBT ("The Big Turd")

traded - Lee, Nate, Ariza, Penny & either Craw or Q Rich

i'd love to get KMart too, but unless we give up Frye, i don't see that happening.

They'd all suck if they became Knicks.

Miles?

He played great in his 1st game back. He has arthroscopic (NOT microfracture) surgery and missed 2 months. That's significant but it's not extremely serious. He's got baggage but he's a very good 2 way player with great toughness. If his knee is okay, I'd take him and Ruben over Rashard. Same goes for Kenyon over Rashard if the knee is okay. We need toughness, especially on defense.

TMS's guys are good. I would add Jaric and Marcus Banks to that list

dont sleep on Evens... he's on the cusp of being a Rodman - elite level rebounder. Like a 14 per game in 30 minutes kind of guy.

I hear ya. And I think David Lee could be that kind of rebounder as well.

at this point the main focus should be just getting rid of some of these guys.

I say absolutely NO to Kenyon Martin. Look at his contract:
2005/2006 - 10,6
2006/2007 - 11,8
2007/2008 - 13
2008/2009 - 14,2
2009/2010 - 15,3
2010/2011 - 16,5

God, he is the definition of overpaid. Add that all his game is based on his athletism (this thing and having played for the Nets makes me hate him) and his knees do not look good, and we have exactly the player that I would never trade for.

Fortson and Evans would help a lot, and we simply can't get Darius Miles.

Fortson & Evans make sense if you can get rid of Big Turd & Malik... otherwise, how exactly will they help this team alot? they're just role players... guys like KMart can make an impact on both ends of the floor, but key is staying healthy... that's a legitimate concern, but if you're willing to take the risk, then you stand to reap much higher rewards as well... Fortson & Evans are not impact players.

i can not see a kmart deal unless q1 or craw are involved...or steph. but we've been surprised by big money deals before. i think the steph deal had us taking back $80+ mil long term and only giving them about $18 left on eisley's.

That huge contract is exactly why Denver HAS to get rid of him at this point and it is the reason we can possibly get him really, really cheap. Isiah will not give up much to get him because he knows Denver is not in a position of strength here.
