it's highly evident. They scrwd themselevs into a corner with this one.


You can't dog a guy like that in this league--ala Baron Davis and Vince Carter because they can play down a level and at their salaries, its a recipe for disaster. I will say the GMs running the Magic lead IT in the race for the worst exc of the year award.

they did get the Howard over Okafor call right, but yeah, they suck.

Francis, man, I don't know if I want that guy. People call Steph a cancer, but I think of Stevie as an even bigger one, especially if the losses start piling up.

Like I said, you can't leak a trade rumor and expect the guy to want to play for you--you have to deal him now.

I know people in the Magic organization and here's what it comes down to: the owner of the Magic could care less about a championship. His m.o. is 'I'm just looking for some good wholesome entertainment'. In fact, he asked Ben Wallace to cut his hair when he was there and he refused. If you remember, Troy Hudson had a mishap at his house where someone got hurt....the Magic traded him before the truth ever came out (Hudson wasn't even home at the time). Basically they're all about the Disney type of clean cut image. An NBA championship is something they'd take if it came but they're not pressed to put forth the effort to make it happen. Not at all.

Dudes like Steve Francis know and understand that these guys are not trying to win and after a while guys want out. Mark my word, as Howard works harder and harder at becoming a champion in this league in won't be long before he will want out as well. The owner of the Magic has actually said (in front of staff) that it's less about championship and more about clean fun entertainment.

Based on what I know about how the organization is run I truly do NOT consider Francis a cancer at all. Where ever he goes, dude is going to explode.

huh. I actually hold his performance with JVG against him more, but that is very interesting about the Magic. no wonder Shaq left.

new plan: clear cap room for Dwight Howard in 08 or 09.

If Francis is a Magic by the deadline, I will be shocked. LB could care less about bringing in and managing renegade types--remember, hes been coaching basketball for 30 years--imagine the sht he has put up with. If he can tame guys like weed and AI, Francis is no problem.

Grant Hill does not like Francis, and I think Grant Hill may become the brains behind the Magic soon after his playing contract is up. My bet is Grant Hill's word has a stronger meaning to ownership than anyone working in management.

I think if we acquire all the guys that teams hate, throw them together, we may have something:>)

i guarantee that Francis would have a renaissance if he came to NY just like Vince in NJ... just because he wants out of ORL doesn't mean we shouldn't go after him... alot of the same concerns some of you have about him you also had about Vince before NJ got him for a bag of balls & some extra towels.

I think you're right. Im looking beyond the crp of this guy is a cancner stuff, you cant play marbury and Francis yadyada. The BOTTOM line is Steve is an elite NBA talent--a top 20 player or so--that s eperates him from a lot of players. You're pretty dead on with the Vince stuff--remember Jefferson was the SF and that has worked out well, and they have no BIGS.

You add Francis and Rose, you have higher level nBA players on the same team. You find a solid PF as a third big--like a young antnoi Davis:>) with Frye backing up 4-5 with a re-juvinated James, and things should turn.

I'm all for getting Franchise, it just seems that the Knicks luck in deals for the REALLY big name seem to never work out, so I'm trying to not keep my hopes up too much.

whatever the case, whether they fit well together or not, i think Isiah's main focus right now should just be accumulating talent & tradeable assets... you can work some deals with guys like Marbury & Francis on the team to go along w/a couple of 1st round picks & Jalen Rose & Mo T's expiring deal in 2006.

I agree with you Briggs and Crzy. I'm all for bringing Franchise here, the Magic have decreased his value significantly with their own stupidity. Stevie wants out and its clear to the rest of the NBA. The Knicks have a expiring contract and Nate/Lee/Ariza/Crawford and 1st rounder if the Magic want it to trade to the Magic for Franchise, I can't think of many NBA teams that can do better then that when we're talking youth wise. Get it done.

Edit: And by the way, this isn't like brining Crawford into play next to Marbury, this is bringing in a bonafide NBA All-Star to play in the same backcourt as Steph. If either of them want to win, they will make it work and Larry Brown will make it work.

why trade all that youth for francis, and not trade or attempt to tade youth to get artest? a much better player IMO...

While he MAY be a better play, Francis doesn't come close to being a risk like Ronnie is/was. All Artest needs is 1 incident to be suspended for a real long time or banned from the NBA.

Most I do for Stevie is Penny and Ariza for Stevie and a conditional #1(that rolls over as follows).....top 5 protected this year, top 3 protected next year, no protections the year after that.

yes it works on realgm.
