I'll post some trades I'd consider here since people were asking me on other threads. I'll rank them in the order I'd want to do them in. Some have very little chance, but the goal is just to find ONE GM willing to do a deal that works out well for us. I'll put the % chance I think the other GM might do the deal just so you get the idea that I don't think every one of these deals is likely to work but I do think one is. The first ones especially unlikely but they yield us great players (that's why they're high on the list!)

-5% Penny, Den 2006 #1 (same protection) and one of SA 2006 #1, Ariza, Nate, David Lee, Jackie Butler LA for Lamar Odom

-2% Penny, Den 2006 #1 (same protection) and any oneof SA 2006 #1, Ariza, Nate, David Lee, Jackie Butler for Rashard Lewis and Danny Fortson

-2% Penny, Den 2006 #1 (same protection) for Ray Allen and Danny Fortson

-20% Penny, Den #1 (lottery--6 to 14--protected for us) for Theo Ratliff and POR's unprotected 2006 #1. I might do the deal if Darius instead of the lottery pick were included and something else were included to sweeten the deal, but I'd rank the deal much lower.

-10% Penny, Ariza, Butler for Adonal Foyle, Derek Fisher, 2006 #1 unprotected (pick #11 right now), Diogu, and Pietrus. (We're giving them huge cap room that they otherwise won't have 'til 2009/2010). I'd do this ONLY if Dolan would let us buyout Foyle or Fisher ala Shandon Anderson.

-40% Penny and any one of Denver 2006 #1 (same protection), Ariza, Nate, David Lee, Jackie Butler for Steve Francis

-25% Penny for Ty Chandler. (I actually proposed this deal a few weeks ago when Ty's trade value was a lot lower). Denver can get two players with their lottery picks who give them the same Ty does for one fifth the price each.

-2% Penny for Chris Webber and Philly's 2006 #1 (highly doubt they do this) but they might want to get out of C Webb's contract.

Brian Grant is on PHX now.....he has been hurt....

That is too much for Odom, IMO.....

I like the Chandler trade (but if we start collecting bigs I am worried that none of them will have time to develop here)...

That first trade....I would do I wouldn't include the Denver #1, but if I did I would want Jarrett Jack back in that trade with Ratliff and the unprotected #1.

My bad; I forgot he was amnestied! I removed that from the post.

Chandler's footspeed and shot-blocking are exactly what we need. He compensates for the softness of Frye and the poor lateral movement of Curry. Give them each 32 mpg.

That first trade....I would do I wouldn't include the Denver #1, but if I did I would want Jarrett Jack back in that trade with Ratliff and the unprotected #1.
I'm trying to propose a trade that I think actually has a shot of getting done. I would definitely approach the deal without offering the Den #1, but I can't a bad lottery team giving up a crucial top 5 lottery pick just to get rid of Theo's contract.

i like the first trade.

hell no to the second (Odom's not even close to being good enough to give up 4 1st round picks for essentially).

i'd do #3 in a heartbeat, but no way GS gives up Pietrus & Diogu unless they're getting back a legit allstar player.

no thanks to Ty Chandler... i'd rather take a risk on KMart, knees & all if i had to choose.

CWebb's been playing great for Philly... why would they want out of his contract when they just traded for him?

Chandler is overpaid, no thanks.

The Odom situation is interesting. IMHO, LA won't be looking to give up Odom for cap room right now, because they can't get under the cap until the end of next season. They amnestied Brian Grant, so he stays on their cap until the end of next season. They MIGHT trade Odom for cap room at the deadline next season, at which point we could offer Mo Taylor or Jalen Rose. I don't think we can get him before then.

I don't want Theo, and no way is Portlang giving us an unprotected lotto anyway. I don't want Webber.

I'd rather chase Miles, Al Harrington or Kenyon Martin - big young, rebounding forwards. Or wait for Odom, who I think is the best player mentioned and has been devalued in LA playing next to Kobe. They MIGHT be ready to give up on him next season and try to make a play for Yao. They won't give up on him this year unless they can get an equal value type player who can ensure LAL makes the playoffs.

BONN-

I totally agree about going after Chandler. I made a post about getting him about 2 and ahlf weeks ago when his trade value was low. Since he's averaging about 12-12-1. He's a perfect compliment to Curry, he can rebound, block shots, is a good help defender, and he's 10 yrs younger than Theo.

Out of all the guys you named, however, I'd rather get a hold of Odom but I doubt seriously he'll ever be available. Odom can get you the numbers that Rose got for us on Sunday. Odom can get you a near triple double every game, has a huge BB IQ, and he's still relatively young.

It's TWO LATE first round picks essentially. Here's what I proposed with bold, capitalized font to make it clearer:

Penny, Den 2006 #1 (same protection) and ONE of SA 2006 #1, Ariza, Nate, David Lee, Jackie Butler LA for Lamar Odom

Like I said, each one of these is deals that has maybe a 10% chance of working. I'm looking for only ONE GM willing to agree to ONE of the deals above.
That said, I think there is a slight chance Portland would be willing to move down from a mid lottery pick to a pick in the late teens or around 20 in order to free a roster spot and save around $50 mil (Theo's contract plus luxury tax).

I'm sorry it came off the wrong way. I wasn't trying to be a snit. I put it in bold so you wouldn't miss it this time. What's your reaction to the proposal now that what I was willing to give up is clearer.

I'd give it about a 10% chance like most of the deals up there. If none of them worked out, I'd go for Steve Francis in the kind of deal Briggs has written about.

The Francis trade was toward the bottom of my list.
Ray Allen, though, is such a smart player and he spreads the floor great. I think he'd really improve the play of our young players, particularly Eddy and Channing.

^gotta remember where we are. Allen and Fortson makes us alot older and we lose youth...no way....more of the same with that trade.

I would do that other trade just because of Lewis.

I would do Penny and Ariza for Stevie and a conditional #1, as stated in the other thread...(top 5 protected this year, top 3 protected next year, no protections thereafter)

Ray should have a few more all-star level years and then some role-player level years left in him. I was only talking about giving up Penny and a mid to late 1st rd pick for him, not sacrificing the entire youth movement. Maybe I'd move that deal down a little lower on the list, though, because Ray is 30. Fortson's only a throw in to make the salaries match. I wouldn't be acquiring him because I expected any significant role on the team for him.

lol... Penny & Ariza for Francis & a conditional #1? i dunno, i'm not sure that's fair for the Knicks... i say Isiah should hold out for Dwight Howard too, just to be safe.
