I think Atl feels they overpaid for him... would this consitute a do over?
Penny/Nate/Frye/Butler + Spurs and Denver pick for JJ and Pachulia

Would give us a terrific young frontcourt player we SHOULD have gone after full bore instead of Fat James as well as Joe Johnson who may or may not be a rising star.

Gives you 2 large very dynamic wing players in Rose/JJ to put with Marbury/Crawford and some very solid and young bigs in Curry/Lee/Zaza

Plausable? waste of time? stop posting trade scenarios and go back to focusing on why Isiah is really doing a good job and the media is just out to get him?

You make the call!

That's an interesting deal, but why do we need another non-shot blocking big man, in Zaza?

I think that's an awful lot to pay for both he and JJ anyway. You're basically giving 5 first round draft prospects (if you think Butler is on that level) + a mega ending deal in Penny.

Ditto on the 1st part. If we're giving them a do-over so they can have cap space and add guys like Elton Brand or Paul Pierce via trade like Fish articulated, then the expiring contract alone should be enough. Obviously, they like the Raptors are not going to get those guys with cap room, though. (Maybe Pierce is remotely possible if they overpay.) But Penny + Nate + Lee should be enough if they're looking for a do-over.

I actually like the deal.. I wouldn't wanna give up Frye (I'd say either Frye or the pick), but it would make alotta sense if A) We get Kenyon Martin in a 3 way deal. B) If Atlanta would go for it.

Curry
Martin
Rose
Johnson
Marbury

Not that bad.. and gives LB the kinda players that he's accustomed to.

You know what, scratch that... The rumor is that the Knicks are involved in a 3way swap between Den & Orl. Instead of Kenyon Martin the names being floated are Earl Watson and Nene. I like the idea of Watson in a NYK uniform, but wonder if Nene would have an impact here? He is physical, but I dunno if he would be more effective than Frye at this point?

Anyway, not to switch topics.. but Joe Johnson, although he isn't a superstar.. He is pretty good to say the least. If we could get him at season's end by dangling maybe Nene and Jamal or Q-Rich (Depending on who survives the potential 3 way) It might make some sense for us.

Atlanta is almost 20 mill under the cap even with JJ

http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/atlanta.htm

If they were ever to trade him they can get a hell of a lot more for Joe Johnson. He is the type of player who could put an Indy or a Dallas over the top.

what impressed me more is the other night, he was able to get bosh to foul him twice and then blocked bosh attempted dunk straight up....

wake up... I like Frye alot but Tim Duncan he isnt. Part of the reason I thought of this is we simply have too many average players. Yes, many of them are young and good solid prospect but also face at least 2 years before getting off the pine. Jalen Rose's arrival just ensured Lee's days at the 3 are long gone. Hey it was a fun couple games.

Also IMO the whole point in stockpiling these kinds of players picks to use them for one big piece. JJ could certainly be a big piece, as would Zaza.

As currently constructed my best guess is IT is going to use the 2 picks and Mo T to get Al Harrington starting around $10mm per which is about as dreadfull as most of his moves

fishmike - Frye is not Duncan at this moment in time? Who knew?

Does your logic translate to Tracy McGrady, who was not Doctor J in his rookie season. Using your impatient evaluation formula for rookies, TMac was just another average player as he averaged 7 points and 4 rebounds and shot only 45 per cent from the field?

On the other hand, Frye, at this point in his productive rookie season, averages 13.8 with 5.8 rebounds and is shooting 48 per cent from the floor. Four months into his first proessional season, do you really consider Channing a finished product?

misterearl your talking out your ass. Did you watch Tracy his rookie year? He demonstrated a skill set and athleticism at 19 years old that nobody on our team has right now.

Its called scouting. Frye is a 4 year college player in the pac10. People have been watching him for 4 years. Give me a break. Say something that makes sense. Frye wasnt a dominating player in college. He was a very good player with other very good players. In fact I dont think he was ever the best player on his team. He's good and will get better but your McGrady analogy makes zero sense. Anyone who watched McGrady is rookie or sophmore seasons could see he had superstar potential.

But Fish, Frye has had games as a rookie that have been real real impressive. If the guy can nail 30 points shooting real high percentage and grabbing 8 or so boards this early into his career and playing on a for-s**t team then I'd say the guy has real high star potential. He's an unusual payer, maybe a 3/4 hybrid. Somewhere in between Lewis and Wallace, maybe.

there's an assumption that because a player is rookie or young that their skill set and production are due to grow exponentially.

There's always exceptions to the rule but 3-4 year college players usually give you an early idea what kind of NBA players they will be.

Marv he could very well be the next Sam Perkins. The league adjusts quickly. He's got a great jumper and he works hard. The last part being the most important imo.

Now teams will make him put the ball on the floor because he's not getting that shot anymore. We will see. I dont see the athleticsm that Sheed has or the handle.

I'm not concerned about his skill set and production growing exponentially. He's already shown the ability to produce at the star level. He needs consistency and a more stable team and coaching concept around him.
