I'd personally rather have Okur. He's already giving you what you can only hope from Curry. If Curry becomes an 18-10 player we'd be lucky. Okur already is one and he's a better shooter, passer and defender.

I can only assume that the only reason people would vote for Curry is because of "potential" but how much better than 18/10 do you think Curry is going to be? Does that outweigh the other aspects of the game that Okur has an advantage over him?

Only hope? Despite the fact that Curry's per minute averages are already better than Okur's, Curry shoots 10 percentage points better than Okur, their contracts are almost identical, Okur is primarily a perimeter shooter and Curry is three years younger?

Gee whiz, I'll take Curry. He's one of the only low post centers in the entire league and he's been slowed by injuries and no training camp this season. He'll be so much better next season with a full summer of conditioning.

Curry for me. I can get what Okur gives you from other areas. In fact I think Frye is a guy that will end up being VERY much like Okur. They are very similar.

I just think its easier to get guys that do what Okur does. Guys that shoot 54% from the field all under the basket are tougher to find than jump shooting bigmen with slow feet.

Neither Curry or Okur can guard anyone right now, so I go with the guy who owns the post game.

is Okur a defender? Or is that just relative to Curry?

This is a bad poll.
Do you want a 7 footer who can score in the post, or who is shooting 3's and jumpers?

I expect Currys mid range jumper to get better over time as well.

finding jumpshooting big men are much easier than finding a big body that can play down low, heck, we just drafted one.

If the 7 footer who is shooting 3's and jumpers is putting up better all around numbers in every major category except FG% then I'll take him every time.

in the playoffs, a jump shooting center means pretty much nothing...while I'm sure you will find the exception here and there, there are far more dominant post up big men on teams that go far...

I'm with, what looks like, everyone else on the board...Curry by a landslide, but once again, good post.

Get's the chatter going.

Wasn't Ewing a jump shooting center?

Ewing was a low post center with a jump shot. And he played a little bit of defense. Just a little.

It's funny how much stock people put into "potential" numbers but not so much into actual numbers.

I think those were the same numbers concerning who thought Isiah would be good for the Knicks and those who thought he would destroy this franchise. How are those numbers looking right about now?

Curry - age:23
Okur - age:26

those are real numbers. When Okur was 23 he was putting up 6ppg and 4rpg. Players improve with age. Okur is in his prime, Curry is just entering his.

per48 minutes
Curry: 26.2ppg 11.8rpg 1.52bpg 54%fg
Okur: 23.7ppg 12.8rpg 1.32bpg 45%fg

those are real numbers, too.

per 48 isn't real. It's a hypothetical.

And I gave their ages while I was giving all those other "real" numbers.

per 48 isn't real but it does level set, which is good for comparisons.
