Trying to aquire Smith from the hornets makes a great deal of sense. Isiah claims Knicks R in rebuilding mode. Requiring young talent without any draft picks or money is an extremely hard trick to pull off. With Smith in scotts doghouse, it ould be a good idea for Isiah to contact the Honets.

With QWoods playing well in his pas two games at sf, a previous weak area, the other weak area that needs to be addressed is the SG position. Craw is a 6th man and QRich is garbage. Smith has good size 6'6 220, and is only 20 yrs old.

I'd offer Ariza or Butler and the pick from the spurs for Smith. Smith isn't making too much money so doubt they would take JJ or any other bloated contract.

yes, I would say SG is the most troubling position on the floor these days. and that is saying something.

what do people think about JRich? seems like he might be available.

I dunno how we'd get J-Rich....I think he would be great in NY but how it happens I dunno.

JR Smith was good last year.....I think Byron Scott came in and was not taking no **** from a snot nose kid. Byron makes his players work so I guess JR Smith found out the hard way that you have to earn your right to continue to play in the NBA. I'd take a chance on him because at least the kid has NBA skills.....unlike Mr Ariza

We don't need JR Smith. He just shoots. Doesn't Pass,Rebound or Play Defense.

I'd do all 3. NOK probably rejects anyone but Lee.

IMO Smith will get dealt for Nene if NOK deals him.

adding Smith to this team, along with Woods who they signed as a free agent is akin to getting 2 late lotto picks. Smith automatically becomes the best athlete along with Woods on the team. Smith has the tools, and size to become a very good defender, 6'6 220, unlike Craw. Woods sf, Smith sg, Frye pf, and Curry Center, make it a little easier for Isia to sell his rebuilding theory.

After we get Smith, Knicks must figure a way to move Marbury next. I'm a Marbury fan, but he just doesn't fit with the rebuilding process. All I want back is a forst rounder this year, maybe second rounder next year, and deadweight with expiring contracts.

Also, I would do this trae before I do any Jrich deals. Bringing in JRich might force us to take Foyles killer contract too. Just more Salary cap hell. Smith isn't making much. While developing the kids, i'll just let the other contracts run out (Ad, Penny, Taylor, Rose etc) But the key is moving Marbury after landing Smith

I would not do lee, watching him last night, just off the ball, the guy is active, the things he does that you don't see on TV is real nice for a rookie, he has a good understanding of the game, is very athletic and pretty tall, taller than I thought, he could use to add about 10 pounds of muscle and he could play in the post some more...

I think this is why Isiah and Brown didn't want him going to CHI for lottery protection.

Up close, do you think Lee could play the 3?

If not Lee would you consider Nate Robinson. I really like this cat, but if JR smith is the real deal would you trade nate for him?

lee is tall, and lanky somewhat, his feet are not quick enough laterally to defend some 3's so he has a hard time protecting the drive and then getting up on the jumper,he is far from slow, but I think he can defend some PF's with some added muscle and some 3's, depends on the matchups.

Martin: watching lee work the boards is amazing, frye was hitting the boards hard too, but for some reason lee is great at getting position and using his ability to jump, he gets his hands on a lot of balls...

Lee is perpetual motion, and the springs he has, especially after 2 and 3 times going from floor to extended reach, is amazingly quick - kinda like Rodman. I do see where you get the slow feet or lateral movement comment, but I think that could be fixed/changed with better positioning and footwork conditioning. Remember, Lee has never had to guard a guy outside of 12 feet, so that type of knowing when your guy likes to go left or right, knowing how to use the baseline as extra help, or knowing how to use your other teammates as extra help may come with time.
