In the Knicks' 105-95 loss to the Magic last night, their ninth in the last 10 games, Marbury didn't make a single field goal (0-for-7) - the first such time since Feb. 17, 2002. It was clear Brown wasn't thrilled about that, nor was he happy with Marbury's assist total (three), nor the franchise point guard's defense.

"I think he just didn't want to shoot the ball," Brown said. "I thought he'd have 15, 20 assists." OUCH!!

Brown also thought that, since Marbury played 41 minutes, he'd have at least one steal. He didn't have any.
OUCH!!!

"To me, by accident you can get a steal," said the coach, whose entire team didn't record one steal. "That shows maybe you weren't real aggressive defensively."

Now, to me Brown was calling out his pg, telling him he did a horrible job overall vs. the Magic

Hold up!! Are you serious???

passing the ball to someone who then scores. that's an assist!!
Kidd, Nash, Baron Davis, Brevin knight all are in the top 10 in assist..

Brown shouldn't have singled out just Marbury for not getting a steal. The team had 0 steals. The Magic had 14. Now that is pathetic. Was anyone playing the passing lanes all night? Doubleteaming?
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

I thought that was just as crazy as what Marbury said about how do you get a assists. Him playing 40min is nothing new, so why Larry felt he should match his career high in assist is beyond me

In 3 years under Larry Brown Jackson averaged about 8 assists and 10 points a game. So I bet he was in the top ten but, that's Mark Jackson #2 in assists all time. Look at his other PGs none of them put up grate assists numbers. So again I still don’t understand you he expected Steph to have 15 or 20 because he played 40min. Steph is averaging 39 a game anyway

LArry was being sarcastic when he said what he said, indicating his so -called best player didn't even show up vs. the Magic or take it to the next level while playing 40 plus minutes..

YoungSpike, read between the lines on his 3 points...
1)"I think he just didn't want to shoot the ball," Brown said. "I thought he'd have 15, 20 assists.

LB is idiot for his remarks about defense. Steph was guarding a guy who was 6-8 and played him tough.

Next town Brown gets a bad rap but how many coachs can claim to be in demand for 34 years!

Larry is pretty old, but he started very young as a pro head coach.

Monte Towe played with David Thompson on the NCAA champion North Carolina State. David Thompson was better than Jordan. Trust me, he was! He got screwed up with drugs. What makes Jordan special was his incredible mental strenth and ablilty to not get injured. Thompson was a better player, but was not the man Jordan was.

Larry's Nugget Teams were the class of the ABA the last two years but he could not get them over the top.

Killa , Cmon!!
I could understand if he was guarding him throughout the whole game but he guarded him through spurts.. also, most of the time he guarded him, the double team came out on hill, marbury and someone else...

I understand that but, to me his comments where still unfair and i can't understand why no one in the media or on the msgnetwork said anything about Larry's comments. As soon as Steph made that comment about how do you get assists (which was just as sarcastic as any thing Brown said) i know he was going to get slammed for it. He said a lot during that interview and that seemed to be the one thing they focused on. I just hope he comes back with a monster game Vs. the bucks
