We all know that TD is the most complete player in the game, which is something Frye is not even close to yet. However, Frye already possess alot of intangables in common with TD. Such as, basketball knowledge and shooting. But Frye needs to learn to move his feet on defense, use his length and knowledge of the game like TD does on defense. Frye's rebounds have greatly improved since training camp, but there is always room to grow.

If he turns out to be a poor man's TD I'll be very happy.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

TOO SOON! Also, Duncan averaged 22ppg and 12rpg and 2.5bpg in his first season. I feel like Duncan is actually somewhat on the decline, maybe the desire isn't there as much after 3 rings, but he can still turn it on when he needs to. He also has one of his best supporting casts ever to pick up the slack.

...and Duncan shot 55% his first year. and won it all his second year. he's the best power forward ever, please don't compare Frye to him. It's simply not fair.

Bok, I usually back you up but this is ridiculous Frye is a nice player but lets be realistic here Frye has a long way to ever become anything near what Tim Duncan is. Duncan can score both inside and outside and has been able to do that since he came into the game. Frye has no semblence of a postgame at all right now which that alone makes the comparison ridiculous. Let Frye work on his postgame and defense and see where he is 2 years from now before we call him TD Jr.

Duncan is one of the greateest PF's of all time.

Frye is a rookie that has only proven that he can shoot jumpshots consistently.

Let's stop with the comparisons. Let Frye be Frye.

Frye's shown more than that. He's shown he can finish strong around the basket, can get adequate low post position, and has a nice jump hook. He's also shown good mental toughness, as you pointed out when he bounced back great after the 4-19 game. On offense, he can be a poor man's Tim Duncan. He's nothing like Duncan on defense, though.

I just don't want people to get there hopes up too much because that means in 3 years when he hasn't led us to a title people will hate him and say he isn't a winner.

Exactly Bip. I can already see this as a disaster in the making with people getting excited about the nice rookie and saying that he doesn't even have a ceiling, then say, he turns out to be a 20 and 8 player and we don't win a championship, it's all his fault, meanwhile, he actually lived up to his potential, while everyone else set up way too high expectations.

It's not that I don't think can be great. It's that these expectations for him are way unfair. Same with the Trevor/Marion and Jefferson predictions. Let them be themselves and see how they turn out.
