Are you kidding???? Lame Allan Houston? Pre-Injury this team would die to get someone that could shoot as well as Allan Houston. Your crazy. You Allan Houston haters really kill me....For once and all...you can not fault Allan for being they type of player he was. Whether you call it one-dimesial or whatever. He was who he was - and was good at what he did - it was up to his coaches to play him for the abiities that he possesed. Not to try to make him into someone that he was not. He was a slasher, you wanna slasher get a slasher. He was not the greatest defender, fine get someone on the team who is. I never heard these knocks against people like Peja, Steve Kerr, Steve Smith, etc., players who were shooters. They shot the ball, period. That is what they were good at. Yeah do other things as well as you can but do what you are good at. No one ever tried to make those guys into someone they were not.
NY KNICKS 4 EVER! Will we ever find players like Anthony Mason, Xavier McDaniels, Patrick Ewing again? I hope so.

Bip was being ever so sarcastic. He has said more than me that this team is desperate for a guy like Allan.

Allan Houston would cure this problem we have. If Allan was still healthy we wouldnt have had Frye witht that high pick but maybe wouldve had Granger of Green instead.

And we wouldn't have had Q or Nate either. Our team would've looked like this:

Steph
Houston
Ariza
KT
Curry

Thats a team that can get somewhere. A nice balanced team, not super defensive on the perimeter, but a very very balanced offensive attack. A slasher, a shooter, and low post threat, and big man shooter to bring the opposing bigs out of the paint.

It was sarcasm to the nth degree................I lived through postings about how we'd be better off without Ewing and that Spree and Camby would lead us to the promised land. I listened to how Houston was an overpaid one-dimensional loser(now I agree with the overpaid and one dimensional but it is clear that the guy was a unique talent that we desperately need right now). Now I'm living through the trade Marbs for back-up PG's and fire LB chants. I agree, we are the most knowledgeable fans on earth.

Yeah my point is that we trash these guys when they are here. WE call them gutless losers. We scream how anyone can be better then them. Then we get rid of them and can't undderstand why our team stinks.

Hey man, sign me to a 3 year, 25 mm contract and I'll be your spokesman.

Are you sure you don't want 7 years 100 mill?

Man, I wish Houston was still playing. I was one of his backers on this board while most people just bashed him nonstop. I think Larry Brown had a point when he called Allan the best player the Knicks had last year, during training Camp this year...

Your right Bip...we always do that. Or at least some of us. We can't stand them while they are here but miss them when they are gone. I think one of our biggest problems...one that we've had for the past 20 years or so...is that we were always at least one player short of a great team. We've never had that one super star that could dominate games. Put that person on any of the good teams that we've had and we win a championship. Put Kobe Bryant or Allen Iverson on the team with Spree, Camby and camp the year we went to the finals - Knicks win (okay maybe we would have needed more of a KG for that series becauase of the twin towers but you get my point) or put one of them the year we played Houston - once again it would have been a Knicks win. We are NY! How have we managed not to get a LeBron, Kobe, AI? I know it's the luck of the draw as far as the draft is concerned but come on. How about one of these guys demanding to come to the Knicks during the draft like Kobe did with the Lakers. I'm waiting for that day. It's crazy. We've sucked for sooo long but not bad enough to land a number one pick to possibly get a super star stud! LEBRON pleaaassse beg to be traded to the Knicks!

NY should have been able to sign a big time free-agent at some point in the last 30 years. The problem is that most players know that they are going to get trashed if they come here and I think a lot of players just don't think it's worth it. Just watch, I'll call it now and everyone will forget.

A few years from now when Marbury is gone all those fans praising Frye will be bashing him for not being a savior either. Then calling for the coach's head as well. Then once again we will fire the coach and run the player out of town. The cycle never ends. NO patience and no willingness to stick to a plan. It's pathetic.

I've had some pretty heated exchanges on this board about Houston. Some even called him inept in those exchanges...I said: "Check out the guys replacing him and you will see inept".

It was never this bad when Houston was our main guy. Now they know.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

he would've been the best 3yrs ago before his knees gave out. He wasn't going to play at the same level this year or play at all for that matter which is why he retired. He was awful during the few games he played last year and even he admitted it. He couldn't move without his knee hurting

Last year, the team went 3 games above .500 just b/c of his presence alone. If he were healthy, the Knicks would have been in the playoffs. That says a lot.

true but was a big if. This team would've definitely benefitted from having H20 especially Curry and Marbury. But they don't and they will not be able to bring in a player of his calibur until they do something about the cap situation

Yeah I think my point isn't that I want him to come back from retirement. I'm okay with him being gone, but man the guy deserved so much more credit than he got. We were lucky to win 33-38 games while he was here.

There were so many posts about how Craw is so much better than him blah, blah, blah. But it would look so nice to have some type of precense similar to allan. Someone that will show up more than once every 5 games and can actually stretch the defense, or pass to the post, or hit a jumper outside of 10 feet, or swing the ball. It was amazing how we blew that off as unimportant.

I prayed that he would come back healthy this year. I said it could only help us, even if he was 50%. His precense alone would open things up for Marbs and Craw and Curry and make the game easier for all of them. I was almost killed by the attacks from people on this site. We don't need him. He's a bumb. We are better without him. Now look at us. How would having him on our roster have hurt us this year? I'm not sure I understand everyone's rationale anymore. What an example he would have been for our young guys.
