over the last 6 games:

FG FT PTS AST REB TO
@mia 6-14 7-9 19 6 3 2
chi 3-9 12-14 18 8 5 2
@det 4-15 3-4 11 11 3 2
bos 9-22 17-21 35 9 5 5
@sea 4-11 8-10 16 8 4 5
@lac 3-16 6-6 12 2 6 1

so he's shooting 29-87 (.333 FG%) over the past 6 games. has he ever shot this poorly over a significant stretch of games?

If you don't count the last game (which must have been his wost shooting day of his career) it is not sooo bad, but it's true his shooting is not right these days.

anyone have the stats for Billups during his first 20 games with Brown? That would be an interesting comparison.

i don't like using the billups comparison with steph b/c steph should be light years better than him which should theoretically, make the transition smoother.

Yeah he is shooting really poorly. If he was playing halfway decent we clearly woulda won that. As long as he continues to help the team in other ways until he gets through it I'm cool with that. And he's hitting his ft's. In the first half even when we missed Curry tipped them in anyway so his aggressiveness worked in our favor anyway.

He's actually the last of our big scorers that I'm worried about. Even in his poor shooting games he gets to the line a decent amount and still causes confusion and oppurtunities for his teammates. We need JC to learn from that example and still get to the line alot too.

not at all. Billups may have had more experienced players to play with and rely on - Rip? Just wanted to see how much he struggled with his O all-alround.

jamal actually went to the line 1 more time (7-7) last night and shot a woeful 2-10 but that's beside the point...

last night was a pretty bad night for steph as a point guard trying to run a team. he played really well defensively, knocking the ball away a bunch of times but as the choreographer of our offense, it was pretty bad. the game was still in balance but he really just started jocking up shots even though he knew he was cold. reminded me alot of the starks in game 7. and nate had few shots in the last few minutes that were desperation as the clock was winding down.

it looked like marbury was trying to be aggressive and trying to win the game for us but didn't recognize that he was shooting very poorly. steph is hitting his free throws as is almost everyone else not named curry but the deciding factor was him getting a little trigger happy. jamal didn't take a shot over the last 7+ minutes of the game and frye wasn't even a thought on the offense.

this was my fear when eddy came back. i was worried we would just keep dumping it down to him and throwing our entire offensive flow out the window.

It's an exaggerated version of Iverson #s. Low FG% but 10+ FTAs per game. Some people here should love those #s!

He does have 7+ APG and 4+ RPG. No doubt the FG% needs to improved, though. I wouldn't excuse Iverson for shooting around 40% most of his career just because he gets to the line and wouldn't do that for Marbury in this brief stretch.

^^I don't think the play by play reflects that. He made our last 2 buckets, the first one brought us within 2. They denied us our bread and butter by doubling Curry before he got the ball. If someone was out there we could have stopped that. I can't call it, but he did score in the closing 5 minutes, and thats more than I can say for Frye, Curry, and Craw. I don't know who you blame that on, Frye really didn't get oppurtunities, Curry blew ft's and Crawford couldn't buy a basket.

Steph's just out of his rhythms. Larry has to stop asking him to do too much.

Send him back to the spa instead of practices, stop asking him to defend, let him dribble as much of the clock away as he'd like, stop asking him to feed the interior, and tell him he's the best PG in the game, and he should be finishing again...

I love Steph - but I have to admit I have been less than impresssed with his play since he became a Knick.

Anyone have stats comparisons vs when he was on the Suns? I just remember seeing him play hard against the Spurs in the playoffs - granted thats the post season - but I dont feel like we have that same player on our roster.

The big picture is that Steph won't be here for the rest of his contract.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

There are alot of NBA players that would dream of being that effective in a slump.

It says alot about a player that can put up those kinds of numbers when they aren't playing well.

i dont think slump and effective should be in the same sentence. if he was shooting near 50% those wins would have been easier and the losses might have not happened. he needs to get of this chyt already and play like he want to go to the allstar game. im soo bloodclaat mad with his play last night.....unreal!!!!

If he was shooting 50%, still averaging 10+ FTAs per game, 7+ APG, almost 5 RPG, he'd be...well he'd be having a "Lebron James-type" stretch!

well thats what we need him to do. why do we call him 'starbury' if he is not playing like a star? he needs to get his act together or larry just might bench him, or even worse ask isiah to trade him.

I'm done with all of you. There is not even a sembelance of fairness here. I'm finished. I can't take this. After EVERY loss, there is this an emotional argument for why it was stephs fault no matter who did what. I can't deal with this, it is making my time here less enjoyable. There is a contingent here who ignore facts, spew platitudes, and generally root against their teams favorite player, because he writes things on his sneakers. It is draining me to read this nonsense everyday, or every other day. I am gone. Good bye.

You serious? You're one of the best posters here IMO; that's disappointing. I'd recommend just ignoring the impatient posters. And if you're having a stressful day, just start ridiculing them!
