steph was interviewd by john thompson on TNT.

- he said he's very coachable. he's a bball player, loves the game, and does what it takes to win.

- it's hard to adjust to the coaches he's had. it's hard b/c if you have one coach, you have a foundation so you know what he wants. he uses john stockton as an example with one coach his entire career.

- if he becomes a coach after he retires, he would be a mixture of everyone. the game is not played one way, it's a mixture of many things. the style will be fitted and suited to the players he has.

- he said he saw film on larry brown and said he NEVER passed.

- when he first heard lb was coaching he thought it was going to be a long year. at the end of the olympics, he said it all made sense with coach brown. once he started understanding, it was alot easier.

- steph said he got it everyday from lb in the olympics, in practice, in the game, everyday.

- everyday, lb tells steph "son, you're getting better." lb said right now they've been poorly coached and that lb hasn't done a great job with them yet.

- lb, steph, and isiah are on the same page. they can't break that triangle up. as long as they understand what's going on, it'll be easier. when steph comes out of the game and coach yells at him, he understands they're going to blow it up on the back page of the papers. "if there ain't no passion, there ain't no love."

- tough love - it's ALWAYS going to be hard and coach likes it hard. it's never going to get comfortable and he likes it like that. once he gets to the point of where lb wants him and where he wants to be, he's gonna be fine.

tnt crew:

- barkley - he's not a true pg and just hasn't learned how to play the point. he's always did it his way. he's proud of AI b/c he's tried to learn the point the last few years and hasn't seen that from steph.

- kenny smith - steph has the ability to be the best guard. anytime you have 11 coaches, you're going to be inconsistent. he says an lb or phil jackson "system", it's for the other players, not the stud players. steph shouldn't worry about a system.

- reggie miller - advice for steph: he's going to make you an unbelievable player and your team unbelievable so you have to just listen and learn from him. reggie told steph the same thing. just listen to lb in practice and the knicks are reggie's DARKHORSE in the east.

he looked very comfortable and seemed to be happy in his interview. good. i think everyone wants it to work out with steph and he has made some serious leaps as a pg on the court in terms of managing a game. time will reveal all...

real nice recap DJ. I saw the interview myself as well at 2:30! Theres something about Stephon in these types of interviews that just REALLY makes me root for him, I don't know what it is, but I just want him to succeed and get everyone off his back as well for the Knicks benefit (OBVIOUSLY.) I like everyone's comments from the crew, I think they were all fair but to kinda counter what Barkley said, I think Steph is finally doing it someone elses way (LBs) and he's going to reap the benefits this time around. Loved Reggies comment about the Knicks being the darkhorse in the East, he basically said the same thing I've been saying all season long so far "PATIENCE, at the end of the year this team is going to be really hard to beat and are going to win alot of games second-half."

Larry Brown owns the ABA record for assists in a game.

Not sure what film marbs was watching.

Other than that, it's refreshing to finally see marbs being interviewed by the national press again.

I credit LB and Zeke for that, they are remaking marbs before our eyes and it's going to be positive for the team.

Go Knicks!

I don't hate Steph. I hate how he runs the team. Move him to the 2 and develop Craw/Nate.

Barkley still on TNT? I thought by now he'd be too fat to fit into the chair.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

Marbs as a coach? Thats funny to think!

But I thought the same about Patrick and he is hanging in there as an assistant!

Patrick will be a head coach and then make a comeback as a player!

Steph was probably looking at the same highlight films that i've seen them show of LB. He was always scoring in those. In the Pros LB avg'd 11.2ppg and 6.7asts. He was a 3 time assist leader in the ABA and was the all time assist leader when he ended his career.

The Thing is that the only reason Steph gets flack is the win/loss record. If he didn't change a thing about his playing style but like Parker if he played with a Tim Duncan or Shaq and won a title, people would say he was a great PG. No one would say that Parker is a great PG, but being on the right team has its benefits. I just read an article from Flip Saunders and he said he loved Steph and that he did everything he asked. The young TWolves had success with Steph and KG. IF steph would have stuck it out they might have eventually won a title. I think he has a new opportunity to do that here and the timing is right. I think he's ready to do what he needs to do to lead this team.

^Do you think Tony Parker would ever write "All Alone" on his sneakers if he played on a bad team? Might be more to the story than wins and losses....

^Do you think Knight will ever post a positive marbury post? Also, the french aren't known for their brashness in sports, however, I think the Dallas Maverick leader Dirk would. And why compare steph to Tony Parker?

I used to like Marbury but over the past few years I've come to loathe him, he's not right for our team.

I was so happy when the Knicks got Marbury from Phoenix. Like everyone else, I followed his career from Lincoln High to G Tech to the pros. I saw him play against Shaq and the Lakers when he was on the Nets at the Meadowlands, and couldn't believe how good he was. So when he finally got to my Knicks, I was jazzed. But it hasn't been what I thought. Something is missing from his game. I still love the running layups where he doesn't allow his shot to be blocked by much bigger men. I still love the attitude. But like Bill Walton said tonight, his career hasn't worked out like a lot of people thought it would, and like probably he thought it would.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

I've long been disappointed in Marbury, not having seen him from the early years as you have. All I can say is, now is not the time to give up on him. So long as the Knicks don't trade him he will continue to get better with LB's help.

the problem with marbury is that he is a sg trying to play the pg spot. if he gets moved to the sg spot I think marbury would be an allstar. thats why I hope the knicks get a true PG soon.

I'm not as convinced as some that Steph will be so effective from the two spot.

First off he'll be undersized relative to his opponents on both ends of the floor. Second he gets a lot of his penetrations off the distraction of a pick and roll. While it's true he can blow by most guys off his first step he's usually doing it from the top of the key. when he's doing it from the wing and his defender is forcing him to either his weaker side (left) or to the baseline where he might get picked up by a defender who can slack off of say, Rose or AD, I just don't see Steph having the ease to the rim or the foul that he gets now.

And Larry's still not gonna want him holding the ball dribbling and going into one on one isolation mode. IOW, I think Larry would prefer more of a catch and shoot guy, like Redd or Rip.

I know someone will bring up Iverson, but keep a couple of things in mind. LB wanted Ivy gone on several occasions. And Iverson is quite different than Steph, particularly in the way he splits double teams and can cover a lot of ground on the dribble. He goes in, backs out, attacks again - Steph kinda just pummels in.

I'm really having a hard time visualizing anyone who's played the two like Steph would. Anyone have ideas? Best I can come up with are guys like Francis, Cassell, and Van Exel. How many of them are all-star caliber SHOOTING guards?

Anyway, Steph is a talented scorer, I don't doubt he can find a way to drop 20 ppg for either guard spot. I'm just not altogether sold on these tweener backcourt types who lack judgment and court vision for the one spot, or height and hops or a pure jumper for the two spot.

Loads of talent, but not an easy fit.
