what do we take from tonight?

we showed everyone the future of this team.

craw, ariza, nate, lee, frye.

add to that curry and butler and that's it.

everyone else can go. they cut the lead down against the lakers starting unit with 4 mins to go. steph was benched. Q was benched. and the young guys played hard to the end.

keep them and move everybody else.

i know steph is trying. he's playing very well defensively and did a great job on kobe. but look...there's a different set of rules for steph. he's our FRANCHISE player and makes $20 mil and was pretty non-existant in the 2nd half which resulted in his benching with 4 mins to go.

Thanks for telling us why you took Marbury out, coach Brown.

honestly, i think Q needs to go..he just hasn't been doing anything right except draw a few charges and hit a couple of threes once every few games...there are teams that need 2 guards out there like Q more than us.

dude, why are we not allowed to criticize? seriously, just look at what happened. the game wasn't over and he got benched. just like q did the entire 2nd half. that's our starting backcourt. i'm not trying to dig up any controversial ground here, they sucked so they got benched. and if you think about it, during the last 6 mins of almost EVERY GAME since steph was here, he really hasn't stepped up.

look at steph on the bench, he was sulking, had his towel over his head and looked upset. it's what i SAW on tv.

i can praise him when he does well and i can criticize him when he doesn't. like i said, it's a different set of rules for him.

no but someone like paul pierce would be more feasible or if only we got Carter last year. I've been harping the the fact that we need someone who can take over a game because Marbury at 6-2, $18mil a year is not capable

Q was benched.

I think Q's back was acting up again. He had it wrapped.

even with TJ we would still lack a gamebreaker

Frye and Curry are our gamebreakers. They will get there. Craw can be our fourth quarter scorer and so can Steph. The Pistons show you can win without a bonafide superstar from the wing.

Who's the Spurs superstar wing player?

Some guys are obsessed with getting a huge superstar wing player, but there are other ways to win. Pounding it inside to 6'11" horses is one way. We wouldn't need a game breaker so much if AD wasn't obsessed with putting us in a hole every 1st and 3rd quarter.

I never said you are not allowed to criticize. I'm just sayin', you're putting words in Larry Brown's thought bubble. If anything is apparent to me so far, it's that Larry Brown has strange rotations, the man works in mysterious ways, certainly not like an ordinary paint by numbers coach. (Malik Rose for Curry anyone?) You can voice your displeasure about Steph, but yes I take issue with your claim that LB took him out for the reason you think he took him out. Maybe that's what you're thinking, but it's certainly not obvious as you make it out to be.

no...you need a wing or perimeter player to take over the game when it counts.

steph historically has shown that he's not that player.

and as long as he's here, if there's one on our bench, he may not be able to emerge.

that's a major problem for us.

fair enough. but just looking at what happened, the team was down 11 points with 4 mins to go and he sits down the starting point guard. was he sending him a message? was steph tired? was he not happy with steph's play? i ask these questions b/c steph DID NOT look happy on the bench.

and whatever the reasons were, it's not a good sign.

can steph learn from this? we all hope so.

time will reveal all...
we just played the rooks vs. the starters and they did work
