even if you're offense is CRAP, if you play defense, you're in the game.

we just set a MF'ing record!!! all those ewing teams....and we did better than that.

we had a lot of help from the refs for destroying any kind of pace to the game.

I really think was more an example of sloppy offense on both sides than any kind of defense.

Are you kidding? Was anyone paying attention to who was playing for Utah? And we only outscored them two of the four quarters... I can't believe the excitement over this win...bring on the Pistons!

Yes the theory is his theory, but this game was not so much of an example of that in action.

Sloppy choppy poor play.

don't downplay a win. we are a young team with a new system and new coach. every win counts...just like every loss. so each game has value. nobody is saying we're the 88 pistons...i'm just pumped about our defense and how it's the reason we're in these games.

It's hard not to be excited over the mere fact that Curry's playing hard and well on both ends of the court. He's never rebounded or blocked shots in his career like he is as a Knick.

I can get behind that. All the guys are playing hard. Effort is half the battle on D.

Where are all the guys who were telling me Marbury and Crawford couldn't defend no matter who the coach was?

Curry The Knick is going to be an utter monstrosity in this league when he becomes consistent on both ends.

The D from Steph, Craw and Q was impressive tonight.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

This is exactly what I said in a thread I made about 5 days ago. The defense was supposed to be the hard part with these guys and so far its worked FABOLOUS. I agree with Martin, maybe Larry said to these guys to concentrate on defense first and then we'll slowly implament the offense. The Knicks have held every single team except the Blazers under their average points scored per game this year which is a outstanding sign becuase teams like the Warriors (twice) the Kings and the Wizards are pretty good scoring offenses. I don't care who the Knicks played tonite they held them to a VERY LOW number. Outstanding.

Patience comes to those who wait.

They played pretty well, but i wouldn't say the defense was exceptional. it was much better yes, however the low score of Utah was more a result of the Jazz having two of their best players in street clothes tonight. Also, the knicks should have put up at least 90 points against the Kirielenko-less jazz
The Knicks are beat street but there's finally hope in the air!

I would agree if we hadn't been holding every single team to under their average. this is unbelievable! remember how bad the D was last year?!

Jazz were w/o AK47 & Booz, we had to win this game and we did. It was a poor game but our defense was great, and that's a great sign.

Yeah, Marbury, Craw, Q were impressive. But I loved the fact that our big men kept denying Okur from taking open shots. He shot 11 and made only 4. Okur was playing hot in the past 2 games (29 & 33pts) and shutting him down was the key. Great D!!

I love Craw's past 2 games. He's more under control and taking better shot and making 'em. He didn’t start, but he did finish the game making 2 of the last 3 Knick shots. He could be like Ben Gordon, coming off the bench and provide firepower down the stretch.

The TOs were again our main problem. Playing rookies and everyone learning new offensive sets will do this. It will get better with time. But the poor FT is another problem. 14/24 @ 58.3%... Will this get better as the team gets more comfortable with itself? I hope so.

If they can keep playing solid D, they will be fine. Ugly, but good win that showed us signs of improvement.

You are a joke. What qualifies as grounds for excitement? Would it be exciting to you if all your predictions of doom came true? You represent a vocal minority of pessimistic slugs posing as realists. You are a downer. Nobody likes people like you. What is your purpose for post in this thread? Did you address the topic? Or are you just here to be Captain Killjoy?

That aside, I can't believe the Knicks just bounced back from a 5 game slide by posting back to back wins, on back to back nights, on a trip out west. I especially can't believe that they did it by playing tough defense. I can't believe the transformation some players are going through right before our eyes. I don't expect them to sustain this until they really begin to gel, but this was a nice peek in to the potential of our squad.

PS: Love ya, Knight!!

WHy do you think they refer to Larry Brown as "Secretary of Defense?"
He's one of the best defensive minded coaches of all -time.. The thin is he'll also improve th offensive end as well..

Detriot, Philly were considered top defensive teams under Larry Brown... Won't be surprised if the Knicks fall under that category this season as top 3 in defense..

We knew this was coming eventually under coach Brown..
The Future. GO KNICKS!
it all comes down to defense...
