Would they do this? Would you?

NY TRADES
  • Stephon Marbury
6-2 PG from Georgia Tech, 21.7 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 8.2 apg in 40.0 minutes

  • Malik Rose
6-7 PF from Drexel, 8.3 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 0.7 apg in 23.6 minutes

TORONTO TRADES
  • Jalen Rose
6-8 SG from Michigan, 18.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 2.6 apg in 33.5 minutes

  • Mike James
6-2 PG from Duquesne, 12.4 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 25.6 minutes

  • Rights to Roko Ukic

  • 2 future 1st round picks

20yrs old 6-5 PG Roko Leni-Ukic signed a four-year deal with a Spanish Club this yr. http://nbadraft.net/profiles/roko-leniukic.asp

Line up
Crawford/Nate
Q-Rich/Mike James
Rose/Ariza/Barnes
Frye/AD/Lee
Curry/Taylor

Inactive
Penny
Butler
JJ
(rights to ukic)

This will save us $56mm over the next 4yrs. In 07/08 season, payroll will be down to $35mm with Curry, Crawford, Q-Rich, JJ, Frye, Nate, Lee still signed (hopefully Ariza too). And that's when LeBron/Josh Howard/Wade/Bosh/TJ Ford/Sweetney/Darko will be FA(restricted). Unrestricted FAs include Peja/Desmond Mason/Lampe/Magloire/Posey.

could this be possible?
Crawford/Nate
LeBron/(Ariza?)
Peja/Q-Rich
Frye/Lee
Curry/JJ

So you prefer Marbury over us having $20mm+ in cap space that we could use to sign a superstar or stars who can play under Brown's system.

Interesting.

Cap space? You don't get cap space if you go from a $1 trillion over the cap to $20 mil less than $1 trillion over the cap (which is basically what trading Marbury would do)

the only way this could work in ny is if steph plays the SG. we saw more of that last night. let's see that role expand and then re-evaluate 20 games down the road.

If Marbury can consistently play the SG position like he did today, great. But we need a PG who can make plays and defend.

Exactly; if we move Marbury to SG, we need to go out and get a competent PG. If we keep Marbury at PG, we need to go out and get an SG who can shoot dependably. We're very weak at whatever backcourt position Marbury doesn't play.

Stephon's a keeper.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

DONE!! Give it time people. I am not saying 'Stephon has to stay' but lets not trade him 4 games into the season. 20 or 30 games from now, if we still suck and Steph is not great, lets talk.

Cool, I'll say it then. Stephon has to stay. He's the best player on this team. He played his azz off last night, and will continue to improve.

How many boards did Stephon get last night? How many turnovers did he committ?
The efforts from him and the rest of the team will soon pay off in W's.

At this point, since we gave up our #1 pick for 06 or 07, its useless to trade marbs right now- all we're doing is giving the bulls a potential #1 overall pick. Best wait till the Bulls use up our pick before blowing the team up. If, however someone will take marbs + jj, i say sign on the dotted line

Marbury isn't going anywhere. He is a better player than any we could hope to acquire at this point. Anyone better is untouchable. I agree he plays at the 2 and we pick up a competent PG and we are rolling. Coming out last night we were flowing with him playing at the 2, then the 3rd quarter comes along and he is back at point and we lose our lead. That seems to be pretty definitive. Our team has the talent, LB just needs to utilize it. Calling for trades at this point is like blowing up the team last year when we started to roll. What we need is chemistry, and that only comes with time. I see good things buried under some hard to watch things. Keep hope Alive, bench Rose and Penny, and bring in the Butler.
Love this game...

let's find a PG from Free agency.

Hoopshype free agents
1. Vonteego Cummings- (29 yrs old) - tireless defender
2. Lionel Chalmers (25 yrs old)- quick, good 3 pt shooter
3. Tito Maddox (24 yrs old)- creative PG. Tough defender

I'm pretty confident that Crawford will become very solid at the point. He's been showing progress.

the picks from toronto may make the trade something to look at. Jalen rose can score and he is fearless down the stretch, something we don't have right now... Rose is a go to guy late, has ice water in his body.... Getting rid of malik rose is a plus...
Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF
