I'm jumping the gun here. But judging from the preseason games, I think this season will be a long challenging one for us fans to watch. I'm fine with that because I'm looking forward to our young kids developing into future studs. BUT... if both NY and Minesota struggles this season and if KG demands to be traded, would you offer this package? NY sends: Marbury, AD, Frye, Lee, Ariza, Nate Min sends: KG, Wally (Trade ID: 2609512) Minny sends a future #1 pick. Our lineup: Marbury Q/Craw Wally/Barnes KG/Butler/Talyor Curry/James/Rose Minny can go with: Marbury/McCants/Jaric/Frye/Kandi with Hudson/Hassell/Skita/Griffin/Lee/Ad coming off the bench. Minny saves a bit less than $40mm. PS: If Minny wants Penny instead of Marbury, why not... Then they save over $90mm.
Yes!
Hell, no!
I'd do this with a minor tweaking

I have to assume that Marbury is somehow not part of your deal, so if you substitute Penny for Marbs, we have a deal wherer we trade all, and i mean ALL our youth for KG and Wally.

I love KG, and I think he's the best Forward outside of Maimi, but I say no deal.

Having KG is one thing, but Frye, Ariza, Nate and Lee will be, as a whole, far more important to this team that KG would be. Besides, now that we have Curry, we need a more defensive-minded PF, say Boozer. Thats not to say KG isnt a great defender, cuz he is. But if KG is doing the scoring, what exactly would Eddy be good for?!? He dont do much else does he?

That's Too much to give up for KG. It would make this team EXTREMELY short-term. Thumbs down on this one.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Any trade involving KG would either involve an equal (like Kobe or T-Mac or someone like that) plus picks...

or complete and utter cap space + youth + picks.

Forget about KG...Mchale would be stupid to trade him at this point.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Two objections.

1) We can't contend now with that trade.
2) We'd be mortgaging the future.

this trade made me think a lot but who would run the point if we get rid of Nate and Steph. Jamal will do it by himself and then we go back and sign Frank Willams and Jamison Brewer. To the thought of them two coming back and no Nate I'd have to give this trade a big HELL NAW!

I feel someone would have to go....one of our young guys would have to go cuz that's all the Knicks have right now but not in the way that this trade is structured.

I think if Minnesota were losing terribly they will trade KG this year. He's 29 right? I think they would take Penny and David Lee or Frye with no problem. Minn gets money and a nice young player.

Showbiz and KG all over again would be nice

You all are nuts.
I'd do that trade in a second. KG + Curry would be the best front line in the NBA.
With Brown reining in Crawford he'd be adequate at PG.
Q at the 2, and we have enough shooting btwn the two of them to allow Ariza to play the three.
Or you put KG at the 3 and have just find somebody to play D and grab rebounds at the PF.
That team goes deep into the playoffs. Championship? Not sure. But top 5 team, yes.
KG is an MVP!!! You tell me you care about three rookies who may or may not be anything in this league when you can get a PLAYER like KG who can do EVERYTHING?
You guys check your sanity at the door when you come here?

all he does is yell and make funny faces after he scores. What has he won to make me believe that we should give up unknown commodoties for a guy who can't get his team to the ship. He's exciting, but that's about it, even Charles Barkley entertained us for a while during his career.

No, Garnett will turn 30 next season. I want to watch a team filled with young players that grow into stars, rather than a rotisserie team.

Excuse me, exactly which young players that we have are destined to be stars? You'll be lucky if any of them ever starts for this team, never mind be an all-star. KG is a top 5 talent in the league.

Are you HI?!
The last 3 years, KG has averaged 23 PPG and 13 RPG had 5.5 APG, and was named to the all defensive team each year. He lead the league in rebounding and double-doubles last year. He was MVP the year before. So either you are hi, or stupid for saying all he does is yell and make funny faces.

He's been an all star 8 times, and will continue to be for at least the next 3-4 years barring injury. He makes us an instant contender, as we would still have Craw, Q, Curry.
Put down the bong, brother.

If you want KG, it'd probably take something more like Marbury and Curry. Maybe we take Olowakandi back in the deal. Do you do it?
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Some of you really need to remove the IV bag full of Kool Aid from your arms.

Most of the players we'd be giving up in that trade aren't even projected as long term NBA starters much less stars. McHale would be the laughingstock of the league and fired immediately if he did that trade. Giving up one of the top 3 players in the entire league for a bunch of unknowns.

If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Marbury + Curry + all the rest also listed above?
Then we're only left with KG and Q as first rate starters (I deem Craw adequate, but don't love him), and not much bargaining power to get a third one. Not so excited about that.

I was actually suggesting just Marbury and Curry. Have to be reasonable here. KG is great, but he is older and Curry is 22. It's a fair deal if Minn is looking to trade KG.

Then no doubt. We'd still have some flexibility to surround KG with some players, probably by trading some of the young 'uns + expiring contract for a third star.

Frye, who plays the same position as KG, who will likely only remain a top talent for probably three more years.
