LB says he wants guys to run, and we should, at certain times and with certain lineups.
However, our 2 best players (Marbury and Curry) are undoubtedly at their best playing in a half-court offense, so we should play to their strengths.

Our Starting lineup Should be:

Steph
Q
Ariza
AD
EC

We would have teams at a major disadvantage if we let the offense revolve around EC and Steph. Dump it down to EC the first few possessions, if they don’t double him, he should be scoring or getting fouled. Eventually they will double him, and he should kick it out to Q (for the jumper), Reezy & Marbs (to slash to the basket), or AD (short jumper/layup).

This will have the other team on the wrong foot from the very beginning. They can’t stop Curry and that creates a host of other defensive problems/offensive possibilities. I would treat Curry like Shaq and have our offense revolve around him, make sure he gets it going early so the other team is reacting and adjusting to us and not vice versa. We should play more or less how Miami Does.

At some point you substitue Frye for AD to spread the defense out even more with Frye in the high post, and maybe switch it up with Q in the low post/baseline opposite Curry.

Also:
With all of the motion/cutting/ball movement in our offense, we need to have those wide bodies JJ & EC setting good NFL-quality picks which alone should create oppurtunities for us offensively.

The Pick and Roll with Steph & EC should work because he is so big and so agile and also has really great hands. It could be a problem though because EC tends to run people over.

I would say we could run and gun with another lineup, or different combination of players, but our main offensive strategy should be half-court, dump it down, move it around, and when all else fails let Steph create.

What kind of lineup/style of play do you guys think we should have?

I agree with your choice
Steph
Q
Ariza
AD eventually Lee
EC
Give us a post game in curry and Q also Q can hit the open jumper and AD brings that oakley type defender at the 4 we need. and Marbury is marbury 20 8
EC
I welcome the knicks youth movment its refreshing to see players without pig cartelege in there knee playing for us.

I would much rather have Frye at PF, BUT, your lineup is also acceptable.

totally agree with you Killa that the offense needs to revolve around Marbury, Curry and Q out on the perimeter but keep in mind that Curry is out of shape, never averaged 30mpg because of foul trouble, poor defender & rebounder. In order for that identity to work Curry has to improve or we're going to have to gut the team. I hope he improves under Larry

It don't matter who they start. They ain't winning more than 38 games anyway.
We will NEVER win with Marbury as our cameo guy.

Personally?

Crawford
Q Rich
Lee
A Davis
Curry
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Marbs, Crawford, Q, Frye, Curry...youth and experience and athleticism and scoring. Defense will come when players don't live up to their end of the bargain...for example:
marbs isn't playing d, Nate comes in.

Crawford not getting back, shift q to the 2, bring in reezy.

Curry not defending, Big Game comes in.

Frye not...nevermind, i'm not worried about frye.

His only issue will be foul trouble, but then we have a plethora of PF's behind him.

no doubt

Q a lot of nights is a bricklayer. hopefully LB can convince him to focus on cutting rebounding and defending and take the occassional 3.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Given that many players will see floortime, I'm not so concerned with who starts.

THis was really more about style of play than starting lineup. I threw in the starting lineup to compliment the style of play I think we should choose.

I'm with Fish. Crawford is going to start only because he is a better ballhandler than Q and Marbury will excel in the role that best suits him at SG. If Larry didn't think Crawford could handle the ball he wouldn't be experimenting with crawford right now. He realizes Crawford is worthless at SG and he also realizing the offense is stagnant with Marbury at PG since Marbury should be working off the ball and doing what he does best which is score. Not worry about making plays

I'm not at all worried about his ball-handling. He's one of the best if not the best dribbler in the league. (I'm assuming that dribbling, receiving passes is what you mean by "handle the ball.") It's his decision-making that is downright scary.

only when his intent is to score himself. Once he starts passing to guys who are better shooters and scorers than he is like marbury, curry, Q, Frye & lee than he won't hurt the team the way he does when he is placed at SG and told to shoot the ball only to hoist an airball

Marbury will be our starting PG, you guys have let these sports writers make you believe otherwise.

i dont listen to sportswriters. I'm just going by what Larry and Isiah say about the PG position being interchangeable and Marbury saying he has no problem playing SG because he knows he'll excel and hopefully being the PG will improve Crawford's shot selection

Yes he will play the 2 at times during the game, but make no mistake he will play the vast majority of his minutes as the PG, and he ought to.

I don't know the more I think about what LArry will do the more I think he will put Marbury in a position where his strength is maximized
