(It really is interesting that so much can still be so up in the air...)
My starting 5:

Marbs
Q
Lee
AD
Curry

I say we get Lee in there at the 3 spot, use his toughness, defense and rebounding.
So what if he can't shoot. He can score in transition and put backs, and he's a good passer. We get enuf shooting out of the back court of Marbs and Q.
Anyway, I prefer Craw coming off the bench. Too erratic for a starter.

Throw AD in there at PF for some more rebounding and D to help cover for Curry's inadequacies.
That will give us a good mixture of D (tho not so much at the guard spots) and O,
and of veterans and youth. Good height at every position.
Rebounding should be good at every spot with the exception of center, and hopefully Curry will make progress in that dept too.

Rose and MoT will never be the future of this team, and they are not taking us anywhere in the present, so let them come off the bench. Rose too short, too limited, and MoT just sux.
Just looking at the team salary structure, it really irks me that those two are on there for the next 2 and 3 years respectively.

Sorry to disagree but I think Lee is getting a little exposed to the quicker players. I rather have Ariza playing the 3. Also Ariza can run a break better. While it looks like like Lee gets alot of rebounds, Ariza rebounding numbers are close. In the old fashion of SF, Ariza is a triple threat. And I can't believe what I saying Ariza has a better jumper than Lee (does Lee have a jumper??). I was already assuming that Ariza was competing with Q for that 3 spot but now that Jamal hasn't shown much of anything.

At some point though I think Frye should be slotted to the 4 spot. They will need his offense I truly believe at many points in the season.

I think Lee might have an even worse shot than Ariza. No way does Lee start. Not yet.

not bad. I like Lee with the 2nd running unit better beause he cant shoot but does great in transition.

I think we go status quo and start
Marbury, Crawford, Q, AD, Curry. Its our best half court team and we need the 2 ball handlers. Then your bench rotation goes something like
Ariza, Nate, Frye, Lee, JJ. Maybe Rose with certain line ups. I'm open to anything that doesnt include Mo and Penny.

Admitted Lee does not have a shot. But he does everything else better. Have you been watching these preseason games? He is much more polished and composed in every aspect of the game. And he is a beast inside, tenacious rebounding, great put backs. Really. Ariza still often looks lost out there, still makes rookie mistakes and bad passes.

I would not use that line-up.
I certainly would use:

James
Frye
Ariza
Richardson
Marbury

Curry and Crawford would have to play a lot of minutes from the bench. I would use Lee or Taylor or Rose depending on the situation.

I would hardly call Lee a "beast." That word is reserved for the elite frontcourt players such as Amare, Barkley, Shaq, Duncan. Everything about Lee screams 2nd unit to me. Hustle, speed, heart, good finisher.
I don't think he's more polished than Ariza either. They're better at different things. We've seen great things from Ariza in a bunch of regular season games that matter. He played good D on Kobe fer cris' sakes. We've seen Lee play well in some summer league games and a few preseason games. Why do you want to throw Ariza onto the second unit already?

Then 2nd unit is James, Lee, Rose, Jamal, Nate

I would roll with:

Steph
Q
Ariza
AD
Curry

That line up will give us a decent bench and rotation. Plus it never hurts to have some quickness along with veteran leadership to start the game off.

Lee, Curry, Frye and JJ all suck on the boards. Not from lack of effort, but the group as a whole has absolutely ZERO technique. None of them box out or know how to put a body on guys. They all rely on height, size or athleticism to board, and at this level good technique is more effective.

I think they will learn. Lee, Frye and Curry certainly seem willing (and do) work hard on the glass, they just dont work well. They mis time their jumps, they dont box out. They watch the ball when they should be watching whos around them on the floor.

This is why you pay a coach $10mm... to teach your young guys this kind of stuff. Malik/AD could also be key in teaching this stuff

What do you mean throw Ariza onto the second unit? When was he ever on the first unit? Till now the running assumption was Q was going to start at the 3. I threw Craw onto the second unit.

I guess I'm clearly in the minority here. But I'm willing to stick by my words, and I'll either be happy to eat crow, or say I told you so, that Lee gets more burn this year than Reezy.

Yes, I have. Lee only looked good against Dallas to be honest. And that was at the 4 not the 3. When he has played the 3 spot he has gotten killed. He was abused last nite. I mean fouling a guy hard doesn't mean you are playing great defense. Ariza gave fits to Kyle Korver when he was in there while Lee Nailon looked like he was trying to make a bid for an all-star game against both Mo and Lee. Remember, Dirk still got his points against Lee. Lee is being really hyped up a bit. Not for nothing Ariza is also a better FT shooter than Lee. Ariza moves better without the ball too.

Davise
Curry

First off I have never seen anyone who puts less effort on defense than Curry; and to top it off he is stupid at life and on the court, he has no anticaption moves very slow when he needs to help. You want finishers in there with Marbury and although Lee is rough around the edges he will rebound nicely against the three spot and we can work the post from 4 positions with that lineup.......

I have a feeling LB is going to give Penny some mintues......

I would like to see Isiah try to make a move at the deadline with any combinations of Crawford, Frye, Ariza, Penny, Mo Taylor to see what we can get in return....Fyre can be good but Zeke really blew it with Granger that is a beast at the small foward position with range that would have opened things up to move Ariza next year for some nice talent and would have given us one of the stronger 1-3 strength rise in the NBA.....

Rotation should be

Marbury 35, Q 30 Crawford 18, Nate 10, Lee 15, Ariza, 15, Frye 15, James 15, Curry 20, Davis 18........there is enough energy height and defense to be strong

I still think Q starts at the 3. But I don't think Lee is ahead of Ariza on the depth charts. When Crawford went down last year, Ariza started a number of games for us. Now, I'm not saying he was ready, but he was baptized by fire anyways. There's a lot to be said for real game experience. He's learned how to play under last minute pressure. Remember when he defended Wade on that last shot last year? That's an experience Lee doesn't have. Remember when he was forced to take the game tying shot but had it blocked? He learned from that to do a pump fake first.

I think you guys are going to be surprised by the Lineup LB puts on the floor for the first couple of months. This is how I see it:

Marbury, Crawford, Nate, Penny
Crawford, Marbury/Penny, Q
Q, Ariza, Penny/Lee
AD, Mo (for offense), Rose, Frye, Lee
Curry, James, Butler

As you can see, there are guys left out and guys who aren't going to get a lot of minutes. But that's the way LB does things and I'm not about to question his MO.

WOW. Lee is a very good rebounder from what I have seen and Frye is not that bad. Watch those 2 more closely.

Ariza has not improved at all from what i have seen still has no jump shot, he does things well like run the floor attack the rim for rebounds but still doesn't know how to attack the rim he is a little awkard

I don't like Lee rebounding technique. If you watch him more carefully he actually battles with his teammates more for rebounds than the opposition. I don't know how many times in both the SL and now preseason, that Lee hasn't try to battle Jackie or Frye for a rebound, only to have the ball go out of bounds. I counted 6 last nite. I only hope it is his high energy that causes it but it is wasted opportunities. Frye has gotten smart when he sees Lee going for a rebound he steps back and tries to box out for him. Lee needs to learn how to do that too.
