I would pursue Jalen Rose.

Do it! we need a SF in the worst way!

PG-Marbury
SG/SF- Jalen & Q

Jalen can handle the ball at times and Marbury switch to SG.

We would have to add players to match salaries

Why does Toronto want Jerome James? If they didn't go after him in the off-season when the Knicks signed him then they probably dont want him that badly. Even if they did go after int he off-season they didn't go near what Isiah offered him contract-wise so why are they going to take that contract now?

Look,,,,you guys are misjudging James' worth to our squad. I know that he is big and lazy, but keep in mind that big Diesel is in our conference. Yes we paid him a little too much, but how do we know for sure whether or not he is not worthy of the contract? Give the guy until mid-season at least to see he is worthy or not, before calling to have him traded. With the addition of Q, Lee and Frye, I am not willing to trade for Jalen..

Jalen can take houston's spot as shooter. Jalen can shoot. Larry has coached Jalen before (but kept him buried on the bench).

Agreed- While I may not be in love with James, he is a useful tool and has talent and a big body, can play some D and rebound. he also has that unique quality that can't be taught-SIZE and has shown he can on occasion be dominating.

Also Toronto doesn't have much that matches in salary (only Mo Pete and Rose and I, for one wouldn't want either.

Not to hijack the thread but we have Ariza, and we had just traded for Q, why would....I take that back...why SHOULD we have taken another SF when our biggest need was big bodies?

With good reason.

Jalen is the last thing this team needs - a chucker that can't shoot. We have enough offensive firepower, we need to concentrate on defense more.

be careful what you wish for...If we trade James to an Eastern conference team like Toronto, we may endup paying for it at the end of the season. A guy like James, you don't trade him to a team in the same conference, especially if we are going to trade him for a smaller player like Jalen Rose...

I for one liked the James signing, not the contract but I liked the fact that Isiah signed him but if I may ask. What has Jerome James done to warrant the Knicks(not that I think they will even trade him) worrying about trading him to a Eastern Conference team. I like his height and defensive attitude but honestly the guy is a career bench player and still hasnt suited up this preseason yet, why should we worry about trading him?

then the year Bird takes over and gives Jalen PT he shoots 47 % 39% on 3's 83% ft's 5 rebs 4 assts 1 stl and avgs 18. ppg. oh and Indy finally made it to the Finals!

LB missed the boat on Rose. Adding Jalen Rose moves NY up quite a few more notches.
the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Only way I take back Rose is if we're giving up Taylor and James for Rose and a Fut. 1st...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

His FG% since then:

45.7%
45.5%
40.6%
40.2%
45.5%

He's a career 44.5%, which was the league average last year.

by the way, what was our 2 guards shooting % last year or the new guy that just came in? 45% is very good for a 2/3

Briggs is right. Crawford shot an AWFUL 39% last year from the field and that league average of 45% also includes all of the centers and power forwards who get their points on dunk and other close-range shots. I think Rose would be a definate upgrade at the SG position over Crawford becuase I honestly don't think Crawford will EVER learn shot selection. Rose is a chucker and so is Crawford but Rose's chucking comes at a higher percentage then Crawfords does. It's becoming more and more clear to me that Jamal does not fit in with this current roster unless he's a 6th man and only plays when Marbury isn't on the court.

Than if that is the case, trade Crawfford and Rose or Mo T. instead of James for Rose. Why must we give them a big body that can comeback and hunt us for a high price Rose?

"James, heading into his sixth NBA season, admitted he is not where he would like to be at this point..." -- Daily News

Very good. We have a center that admits he's in bad shape entering camp. Very professional. I guess the nice new big contract didn't really motivate him. Unfortunate.
