Knicks Press Release - New York Knickerbockers President of Basketball Operations Isiah Thomas announced today that free agent forward Matt Barnes has been signed to a contract. Terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Barnes, 6-7, 225-pounds, averaged 3.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 43 games for Sacramento and Philadelphia last season. The Citrus Heights, CA-native was traded from the Kings to the 76ers on Feb. 23, 2005 as part of a six-player deal. [READ

Barnes played for UCLA....he played a little for Sactown too.....he was playing well there until the Webber trade buried him. Philly never let him play.

I would like to have Matt Barnes stick around. He is a Knick type player. Another high energy player.

15 man roster? He could have a place.

he is just a role player, but a high energy type of guy, kind of reminds me of a raja bell type earlier in his career, maybe a little longer and taller..

Was this just a training camp pickup or will he make the season roster?
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

He can really up the energy in practice. Who knows if he makes the team, but camp just got better.

while we need defense- he is basically similar to ariza.

If Crawford learns to select his shots better, we can have this covered. Hopefully he can learn this from Brown. He does fine till he start chucking from what seems like half court.

Naw. He's thinking of Kevin Martin from Sac. He ripped us to piece when we played Sac last year at MSG.

Is Matt Barnes a really ugly 6'7" light black guy who had like 3 monster dunks and grabbed a million boards and was cutting to the basket? If so, this is who I am thinking about and am happy he's on the team. If I'm thinking of someone else, then

you also may be thinking of maurice evans, was on sac now with detroit, he made us look like fools, a journeyman wing player running circles around our high-priced vets.
