One nice thing about football camps, is that its open to the public. Its possible to get a good read on who came in fit & who did not. Specifically, I am wondering about:

Curry - I realize he's not there yet, but I wonder about his athletic fitness (only after I am concerned about his well-being). Has he been working out since he missed those 13 games? Previous to last year, he had been over-weight. I wonder if his own health concerns have kept him off the tread mill or out of the weight room.

Frye - We made a big deal about his weight going up pre-draft. Did it plateau, go up or down?

James - Did he come in fat (I read that on one thread)?

Crawford - Did the kid make any effort to add weight?

Q - He had the back situation. How is he now?

Curry and Frye have both been working out with Tim Grover in Chicago for most of the summer.

Craw doesn't look like he gained weight, but to me that's not a huge problem. It might lead to injury for him to add weight to his natural frame. Rip Hamilton and Reggie Miller are two extremely lithe SGs who were able to have good careers and play solid D. I think Craw can fit into that category eventually.

also, if you watch MSG sportsdesk you can see most of these guys. JJ did not look fat either. I think our boys are in solid shape right now.

Points of interest: Curry and Frye working out with Grover. Another Curry Knick connection...

Also, Curry got in shape last year, and I originally and still do suspect his benign arrythmia was the result of a weight loss product.

yes, I remember thinking at the time he went out in March that the heart thing probably had a lot to do with the 60 or so pounds he dropped in a short period of time.

yeah, I was also wondering about Frye and Curry both working with Grover, though supposedly a lot of NBA dudes do over the summer. Elton Brand, Darius Miles and others supposedly live in his gym over the summer.

From the short interview with Big Game James I watched a couple of days ago, he looked to be in good shape.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

JJ could hit the weight room though.
What happened to Travis Knight? What a waste!

Jerome James always looks sloppy. You can't tell if he is in good shape or not. I mean damn....I know the Jersey is fresh and brand new, right? Geez

Craw doesn't need to add weight as much as he needs to add muscle. He just seems 'soft'

Rip, Miller and others are thin but solid.

Well expect him to be in better shape this year. After only a week with Larry during pre-camp workouts, JJ said that LB helped him get an extra 3 inches on his jumpshot, so he might just stay focused enough not to let his conditioning slip.

And from an article on www.nyknicks.com, I heard that Houston did practice, but it was limited. He did running drills but didn't scrimmage.

That is annoying.....I mean I can do that now with one bum knee!...and I haven't been doing the strength training like I'm supposed to.

I couldn't find the article just now but i read a report from camp where HOuston said the drills he ran were tough ones, lots of quick cuts and hard running. he said he was thrilled that there was no pain at all during them. i know we've heard this before , but stil . . .
