Good Luck, Charlie, you were a heck of a competitor and you hit some big shots for us and drew many a charging fouls in key spots! If you were only blessed with Fugazy's skills!

I think he'll make a great coach, in the vein of a doc rivers. He was never especially talented, but he worked hard and had a winners mentality.

Uhh excuse me sir....Charlie Ward not especially talented? You must be talking about as an NBA player because this guy was one of the greatest college quaterbacks of alltime. He could throw it, run it and was adept at reading defenses with the best of them. Basketball was a fall back choice for him after being blackballed by the wonderful NFL owners for making the decision to not drop basketball as an option. There's very little doubt in my mind that he wouldn't have gone on to be one of the better quaterbacks in the league barring injuries etc. To think how much Vinny Testaverde has received over the years (do you guys know he holds the record - or very close to it- for most intereceptions in a season). The man is Super talented because very few souls on the planet have the athletic ability to excell in two pro sports.

Cool Good luck Charlie....

Maybe now he can get his body checked out. He used to walk like a cripple!

Charlie did develop a nice tear drop in his last days as a Knick and became deadly from three.

Funny how Marbury used to clown Charlie and Childs but collectively they always did a good job on Marbs......Now Marbs has to prove that he can do what Charlie did as the starter.....Finals Baby!!!

Good Luck Charlie!!!

ward was a gritty player for us, and one heck of a college football player, everyone talks about michael vick, but ward was just as exciting and was more accurate than vick. When I watched he and warrick dunn play for FSU, to me that was one of the best college duos I have seen in years...... Good luck charlie..

Wow how could I forget the whole College Football thing. Charie went un-drafted right?

I remember seeing Charie throwing the pigskin with Oakley. Charlie showed good arm strength. Oh well.....just one more thing to tell his grand kids!!!

Good luck to Charlie. I have always liked him. By far, my most memorable and favorite Charlie moment was when he swatted one of Rik Smits 3 pt shots 5 rows into the seats.

Good point Franco, I think Charlie would make an excellent coach as well, he just was a fundmanetally sound player and always commanded respect from his teammates. Good luck to Charlie, he was always one of my favorite Knicks and he always will be. Sad to see him go.

Wow, time sure flies... It was real while it lasted, Charlie! Good luck coaching!

Wasn't Charlie Ward the oldest Knick draftee still playing, prior to retiring?
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

I's like he retired a Knick because he hardly played when he left NY.

You could be right. I'll leave that for the many stat junkies we have roaming this place

He was a Dolan guy. When he was traded by the Knicks he got a phone call from Dolan. Houston was part of that whole mess and Houston is still Dolan's favorite and couldn't even be ran out of town with an a NBA exception that was put in there just for him. Ward remained a Knick for like 2 seasons after that. Him being traded had nothing to do with his comments.
