Chicago signs Eddy Curry and trades him along with Antonio Davis to New York for Tim Thomas, Michael Sweetney and Jermaine Jackson (sign-and-trade). New York also sent Chicago its 2007 and 2009 second round draft picks, a conditional 2006 first round draft pick and a conditional right to swap 2007 first round draft picks with Chicago.

I like this trade....

That last part with the right to swap picks in 2007. I wonder how much lottery protected that is?

Finally, it's official! I didn't know we gave up 2 second rounders, but that's cool. We got the deal done.

BTW, Welcome to the site, AI!

Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

supposedly they get our pick unless we have a top five record in the NBA (meaning pick 25-30), in that case they hold the right to flip-flop and get our 2007 pick. I don't quite see how that works for the Bulls if we're better than them in 2007, but I doubt highly that we'll have a top five record in the league this year.

what I dont get is I thoght PHO was getting our 06 pick unless it was in the lotto from the Marbury deal?

Thanks. I was hoping that part of the contingency was that the Knicks wouldn't have to surrender the pick if Curry didn't play a pre-determined number of games.

October 4, 2005 – The Chicago Bulls convey to the New York Knicks the contract of Antonio Davis and the signed-and-traded contract of Eddy Curry. In exchange, New York conveys to Chicago the contracts of Tim Thomas and Michael Sweetney, the signed-and-traded contract of Jermaine Jackson, and New York’s regular second round draft choice in 2007 and 2009.

In addition, New York conveys to Chicago, New York’s 2006 regular first round draft choice on condition that the pick does not actually go to Utah (due to not being number 26-30) and also on condition that New York receives San Antonio’s 2006 regular first round selection (due to being number 11-30). If New York’s 2006 first round does go to Utah (due to being number 26-30), and New York does receive San Antonio’s 2006 first round pick (due to being number 11-30), New York conveys to Chicago that San Antonio first round selection.

In addition, New York also conveys to Chicago the right to switch first round draft picks with New York in 2007 provided that New York’s first round selection does not go to Utah (is not number 25-30). Per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. This trade is conditional upon the players passing their physicals.

AD is going nowhere. He is a Knick. just because one chicago writer wants him back doesn't mean he will go back

The Knicks, who traded forwards Tim Thomas and Mike Sweetney to Chicago, also acquired the veteran forward Antonio Davis in the trade. The Bulls want Davis back, and the Knicks are expected to waive Davis to allow him to re-sign with Chicago. However, the teams cannot publicly acknowledge that arrangement because it violates N.B.A. salary-cap rules. Thomas insisted that the Knicks intended to keep Davis.

Under a new N.B.A. rule, Davis would have to wait 30 days before re-signing with the Bulls.

Sorry guys, according to today's (Wed. Oct. 5th) NY Times you are wrong. I wish we would keep him as well, as a useful vet and by having another ending deal.

Why are we expected to waive him then? I just don't undertand why.

waive davis? jesus, this is getting worse by the minute. thomas sweetney a unrestricted 1 a very tumulous secondary 1 and two 2s for a guy no other team wanted and we now have to return a guy that I thought made the dealing workout for the next two years.

From the press conference yesterday:

Q: Talk about your evaluation of Antonio Davis.
Larry Brown: “I coached Antonio in Indiana. He’s a great guy, he can play more than one position and he’s a true professional. We’re hopeful he’ll be a big part of this.”

Hmmm . . . What's Larry hopeful of - that AD will play well or that he'll stay???

Chicago can't take on that much salary.
It has to be a waive and re-sign.
