Remember, he played with Brown his first 4 seasons in the league...I'd like that kind of player as a back up PF (one not afraid to guard shaq)

Care to elaborate? I personally don't think that Isiah is going to waive him. It'd be absolutely pointless to waive a contract running out at the end of the year. I would love to have Davis on the team, I'd even start him at the 4 until Frye is ready to step in and start.

Yeah, Sam Smith said in the Tribune that the deal was he would be back in Chicago by the end of the month.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

Trading him to NY and waiving him so the Bulls can pick him up saves Chicago money.

Waiving him doesn't mean anything. He must go through waivers like any other player. Like the Hawks wavied Doleac for the Knicks. I guess Paxson must be really assuming that no will be willing to take on an expiring contract for about $15 million who can still play solid defense. My thinking is that there is a second trade with Chicago later in the season not next month though.

I think Paxson's assumption is correct.

No one can claim davis off waivers anyway. You need to be able to fit his salary under your cap to do so. If he's waived, he'll clear.

If he see's this team has a potential to win he will stay.

Penny Hardaway (of all people) was saying that the scrimages have been different right from the jump. He's excited.

Hopefully something clicks and clicks early and the Knicks start the season shocking the world!

It would be nice to keep him. He's old, but he's the only of the PF's we have who blocks, rebounds, defends and scores with good size. The others are limited or inexperienced.

It would be as stupid as it gets to waive him, and makes the trade a lot less good by doing so. We actually NEED a player like Antonio Davis right now b/c the defense of our frontcourt is so thin.

KEEPER: Contrary to reports, the Knicks insist that they will keep Davis on the roster. The power forward, who will be 37 when the season starts, played for Brown in Indiana.

The Knicks traded a protected draft pick and two No. 1 picks to Chicago. The Bulls also have the option to switch first-round picks with the Knicks in 2007.

If there had been a handshake deal to release him, off course they would have to deny such rumors.

Of course, a handshake deal can't exactly be enfored...

I think AD is solid

if there was a handshake deal and Isiah doesn't follow through, the Knicks could be blacklisted from trading with other GMs for years to come
David f'n Lee for President!!
maybe davis stays
