unless he takes a DNA test--not even the QO.

So Im feeling more and more we could really get Curry--if we could trade for an exemption we could get him for that SA pick

i dont know, was it smart to give andersen eisley and weatherspoon 6+5+5 for 126 mm? How much did we get in return?

if we signed eddie curry to 3 years 15mm with a team option for 3--then we risk 10mm or just about what we are paying shanden andersen

think about it knicks can afford this kind of risk capital

no, it's really dumb, but we are so far over the cap, it's really zero risk to us, curry could die at any moment, but we could win a few more games.

if he knows he can die at any moment, regardless if he plays ball or not, and decides that he rather die while continuing a basketball career than retire, that's up to him.

sign and trade for him or sign him to the minimum and hook him up with serious endorsement deals.

the knicks can afford the risk as the rewards outweigh (no pun intended) the reward

FYI: the QO is already out there. If that wasnt an option for Curry he would be unrestricted right now. UNLESS there is language in the new CBA about this kind of physical. Pax hinted at that but it seems like a stretch

they can pull the QO anytime before he signs. the moment they pull the QO, the Bulls lose any power.

hey, I love the idea of Curry the player. I like Sweetney and would like to hang on to him. I do think we have some responsibility to a players saftey and its NOT just Curry's call. I dont care about the money. I dont want this kid dying on the court

yup, right now, IF the bulls don't pull the offer, it AUTOMATICALLY kicks in on september 30th and he stays a bull for a year and becomes a free agent.

something may go down in an 11th hour type of thing.

best bet...golden states swoops in and trades their $5.2mil trade exemption for a 3-4 year deal for him.

the thing is he can die off the court too. so he is probably thinking - i might as well continue playing ball (and getting a paycheck) because my heart can go out of whack if i'm just watching TV or having $ex at home or anything. people live, and it's sad when people die, but you have to keep on keeping on until you die. To live is to suffer. Especially if you are a knicks fan. To survive, that's to find meaning, then to suffer. Play ball.

man...i would be very upset if we move sweetney for curry. VERY upset.

if we could keep a sweets/frye/james/curry combo for the next 5-6 years, that would be GREAT.

i could also very EASILY see curry call it a day after he gets a guaranteed deal and retires b/c of heart problems.

Totally. If he's not getting insured, which he wont, he needs to have some sort of productivity and games played built into his contract structure.

brief summary of what's being discussed on the bulls board in realgm:

reports out of chicago say that curry is still refusing to take the DNA test and paxson will not sign him to a contract without it. more reports are sufacing that curry WILL NOT play for the bulls, even if the QO kicks in. so he may not play at all next year. paxson sounded frustrated in a radio interview and said it will all play out within the next week as sep. 30th is when the QO kicks in.

man, this sounds CRAZY. looks like a bad ending in chicago.

golden state has a $5.2 mil trade exemption so they may swoop in and take him on a 3 year guaranteed $15-17 mil deal.

doctors have cleared curry to play but he won't take a DNA test. so maybe he took one already and knows chicago won't like the results. paxson offered him an incentive based deal but curry said no to that.

this may actually play out in a court of law as pax may demand a DNA test and curry's camp will fight it.

The following provisions shall govern an agreement (to be set forth in Exhibit 6 to a Uniform Player Contract) establishing that the player must report for and submit to a physical examination to be performed by a physician designated by the Team:

(i) The player must report for such physical examination at the time designated by the Team (which shall be no later than the third business day following the execution of the Contract), and must, upon reporting, supply all information reasonably requested of him, provide complete and truthful answers to all questions posed to him, and submit to all examinations and tests requested of him. The determination of whether the player has passed the physical examination shall be made by the Team in its sole discretion. If the player does not pass the physical examination, the Team shall so notify the player no later than the sixth business day following the execution of the Contract.

(ii) The Team's determination that the player has passed the physical examination by the player shall be a condition precedent to the validity of the Contract. Accordingly, and without limiting the generality of the preceding sentence, until such time as a player has passed the physical examination, the prohibitions set forth in Section 12(b) above shall continue to apply to the Team and player.

(iii) A Required Tender or a Qualifying Offer may contain an Exhibit 6. If a player accepts such a Required Tender or Qualifying Offer but does not pass the required physical examination, the Required Tender or Qualifying Offer shall be deemed to have been withdrawn , which shall have the consequences described in Article X, Section 4 or Article XI, Section 4, as the case may be.

(i) A player who knows he has an injury, illness, or condition that renders, or he knows will likely render, him physically unable to perform the playing services required under a Player Contract may not validly enter into such Contract without prior written disclosure of such injury, illness, or condition to the Team.

a physical examination does NOT include a DNA test. that is a special test. DNA test is not necessarily reasonable since it is NOT the standard of care. EKG and echocardiogram are.

I want Eddy Curry.....but maybe the reason he plays hard one day and sucks the next is because of this heart condition......well obviously it is.

He definately fills a need as far as size and interior scoring. I don't need to see this kid die on the court. I still remember Reggie Lewis fell to the floor with Larry Johnson reaching down towards him not knowing what had happened but his expression said it all.......that was a scary moment.

Lewis was one of my favorite players and I cried like a baby when he died.
Drazen was also one of my favorites too and he died not too far apart from Reggie.

I still get a feeling of sorrow when I see this picture:
